read'n'yell
It's interesting to see the difference 20 years can make to a game. Â They used to have the same level of ball skill and ability to pass but the fitness side is completely different. Now players are darting all over the pitch, running non-stop and closing down the opponent. Whereas in the highlights there is clearly a more conservative approach to running and players are organised, not stepping out of position, saving energy. Â If they were to play each other, I have no doubt the current team would win. Purely down to fitness and I think modern footballers really don't get enough credit for this. A lot of people use the gym and keep fit but often have breaks, these guys have to do it all year, every year.
jagfox
I loved Farningham's headed winner in the St Johnstone game. Remember in interview after game Lambie was getting asked if he was disappointed that only 5,500 turned up. Changed days indeed.
Bryza
Was the Partick Th 1 v 1 Falkirk (20.4.1991) game a Scottish Cup game that went to a replay where Law got sent off up at Brockville?

peagreenboy
Would this old vs. current team be playing on modern day pitches, or the potato fields of then? And what about refereeing style? Players are protected a lot more now. These things must be taken into consideration!
