Graemei
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good watering hole near new Douglas park? Haven't been for a pre-match pint in Hamilton before the game before and looking for somewhere where I might bump into a few fellow Jags fans? Cheers in advance. Pie Of The Month
The Vaults across from the train station is always fairly busy with Jags fans and is alright. There's also the Tap Room across from it but they don't allow away fans colours going by the sign on the door last time I walked past. Other than that there's not much choice unless willing to walk a bit.
Graemei
Ah cool, read the Vaults was popular with Accies fans, but will maybe go with that. On the basis of no away fans at Tap I think i'll likely give that miss... Bit unfriendly.
lady-isobel-barnett
Vaults is fine but can be a bit slow getting served.
hamiltonjag
Arrive a wee bit earlier. Stay on the train to Hamilton Central. Walk up the stairs on to Quarry St. Go to my local "The Quarry". Train back to Hamilton West is usually free due to it only being 2 minutes away
Charlie Endell
The Silver Tassie (Almada Street) used to be a dive, but is now quite passable. It should be quieter than the Vaults.
kennymac29
As said the old tassie, now bar west or the bay horse are the decent ones close to the ground. Ml3 is nicer but about ten mins walk. Stay out the vaults, shithole and full of the young accies crowd.

Werent allowing thistle fans in the vaults today ******* joke total tosser of a doorman must be a rich owner if he can turn away a chance to up his takings. Pie Of The Month
I was in the Vaults. Never realised until later they weren't allowing away fans in. Apparently they'd been told not to after Falkirk caused bother not long ago. Strange that we got in considering we had Thistle scarves on. kennymac29
Probably just saw the red and let you'd in. I noticed when I walked past they had bouncers on, lot of pre match trouble in the last couple of games hence the over the top security. U didn't miss much as its a crap pub anyway. Its actually a decent pub with good prices. Always had good banter with Accies fans. i guess I don't set my standards too high on an away day. Always had good banter with Accies fans. i guess I don't set my standards too high on an away day. It's no bad... Despite living in Hamilton and dropping in for a pint or two after work every now and then it's torture to get in on thistle/airdrie/Motherwell days... They employ bouncers which they don't usually have who have no knowledge of the place. I got knocked back, stone cold, last season cause I never had accies colours on despite the fact I was meeting 6 accies mates inside and I showed my license which had my Hamilton address on (31 with grey hair so no age issue) I had no thistle colours on... Strange place on match days... For future reference I'd recommend the tap room if not in full head to toe colours (they just ask you to take off scarf otherwise) or bar west both just 2 mins walk from ground (across peacock cross feom each other) and never any bother in either Edited March 16, 2013 by flynnthistle

I bet you left with plenty of change for the game with the random prices. Anyway no trouble that I saw walking home for a change.
lady-isobel-barnett
Was surprised to get knocked back at the Vaults but a lot of their custom isn't NDP related. So if there's been recent trouble re an Accies game, even if minimal, I can sort of sympathise. Anyway it's a commercial judgement and the other pub round the corner was fine. My mate is an Accies fan and was knocked back at the Vaults when told it was for home fans only. That did seem a bit silly. Accies and jags fans all mixing with good banter. Nice place with a good atmosphere, all female barstaff as well which has absolutely nothing to do with anything of course

Vaults looked unwelcoming so thought might as well try the Tap Room for grub and a few beers, decent atmosphere and banter with both fans slagging off the h*ns performance on the telly.
