whatever happened to le rebelle de jukebox, posted he hasn't on this thread since his infamous ubforty shame, the burden must be weighing him down

was going to stick the excellent fire and ice by pat benatar on next but then remembered another track with fire in it ..... upon searching for a video of it, i came across amongst others the following two versions ..... one a home made video made in the bands art style for their student portfolio, and the other a live performance ..... the narrated parable is by dennis hopper (rip). kick back, turn it up and enjoy.

bringing it back to good old glasgow town, it's time for a protest song, by one of the masters.

in fact make that two masters of protest and social conscience and lyrical genius, with the original version and then a cover version by that good old barking boy (as in barking essex, not barking mad).

the original is from the a different kind of love song album (released 1983) and the cover version can be found on the reaching to the converted album (a mix of b sides and rarities) released in 1999 ..... although the video chosen here is actually a live version to mix it up a bit more.

think again ..... dick gaughan

Ok from you tube you copy from the address bar. Then you use the wee chain thingy and click on it and under the thingy that says URL you paste the thing you've copied. However do not post at that point. Remove from the address in the URL bit everything before the www, bit. That's how I do it. Mind you I can't embed a song on the Tartan Army Message Board though!

rewinding a further ten years from that rubinoos track, you could have chosen the original version of it by tommy james and the shondells ..... or you could have tried to be hip and go with better known covers of it (tiffany, girls aloud, killers, snuff, to name a few) but glad you didn't. the original was the best imo. though weezer did the best cover version of it. again imo.

back to 1965 we go now ..... and a track written and recorded by a band that is still going ..... although it never properly appeared on record until 1975 when it was released on the album metamorphosis, which was the third compilation album of out takes, alternate versions and unreleased tracks between 1964 and 1970, under a dodgy deal of usurping decca by the bands former manager.

the song was released in 1965 though ..... it appeared as a b side to someday (although the "we're" was dropped from the song title ..... so, included it as a bonus (?) ..... apologies to anyone offended by the appearance of this scouser on the thread haha !!
