  1. I want summer football as well but that doesnt work above. Whats happens when you get promoted/relegated? As for Friday night football - i certainly wouldnt vote for it. Crowds would be tiny in my opinion
  2. Just read the JT's response to David Beattie - That is feking embarrassing. I recently rejoined the JT after the departure of Cowan & Hughes as I thought they were making great strides but that response disgusts me & is quite frankly amateurish. David Beattie was spot-on with what he said. Disarray is an understatement.
  3. Im surprised with the line-up...didnt expect to start with 2 up front. I actually think he may go 5-4-1 with flannigan & buchanan on the right & left hand side.
  4. Agree - Any points deduction this season will be worthless because of league reconstruction which seems inevitable now. As a result there will be no relegation from Div 1 this season as it would only leave 8 teams in the league. 3 divisions for next season instead of 4...Therefore it should be suspended to next season...IMO!
  5. If there is league reconstruction then they wont get relegated anyway (Nor will we for that matter!)
  6. I guess they have till Xmas to get as many points on the board as possible. If they can keep the starting 11 fit and suspension free then its still a decent side: Douglas Irvine, McKeown, Weston, Lockwood Riley, Adams, O'Donnell, Harkins Higgins, Griffiths I went through a redundancy situation earlier in the year and its not a nice feeling so for those who have lost their jobs i feel sorry for them. It can feel like a helpless situation. Having said that I have no sympathy for Dundee FC. They cheated...its as simple as that. They bought players they couldnt afford. If we (or Morton, Cowdenbeath or Stirling) get relegated because of that then its totally ridiculous and wholly unfair. We could all stay in this divison if we overspend. I struggle to feel sorry for the fans...they certainly didnt seem to have a problem with their team overspending and living outwith their means. Am I not right in saying Dees4Life own a 26% shareholding in their club. They should have been proactive in preventing this happening a second time. I hope they get a harsh penalty. In an ideal world they should be relegated to the 3rd division but i dont see that happening mid-season.
  7. And given them new contracts when most people on here could tell you they were rotten. Kinniburgh being the prime example...he is absolutely shyte. We could go and ask one one of the boys from the Boys Brigade to come in and do a better job, On the bright side how funny was Paddy Boyle's attempted cross when it hit his standing foot. That was the highlight of the day for me...
  8. God, that teams makes me cringe even more than todays line-up. For me, McCall has lost the dressing room. I have been a supported of him till recently however its time to go
  9. Yes and No...he chose to re-sign Kinniburgh, Sid, Maxi, Hinchy etc... That was his decision, not the boards. He also chose to give extended contracts to Doolan, Erskine, 2 yr deal for Boyle, 2 yr contract for Grehan. Admittedly Doolan and Boyle have started the season well but i dont think it will last. Ive been a supporter of McCall but yesterday changed my opinion. McCall out...Jackie Mac to take over.
  10. I was out on Saturday night and was speaking to a QoTS player and he told me his version of events ref: Dundee trying to get McCall. To put it mildly he was desperate for the job. He even phoned Chisholm to ask him to go as his no.2. McCall had basically got the job & all that needed finalising was compensation to us. When we started to ar$ey about it they went and got Chisholm himself. Also was interesting to hear his comments on Cowdenbeath. Apparently Brannigan was absolutely furious they could only win 3-1 at Central Park and accused the players of being complacent etc etc. Dont know what that tells us but it just seems to me that McCalls heart isnt quite in it as much anymore. Sort of what Steve Coppell said at Bristol City when he quit a few weeks aho. Im chucking it because Im just not in love with it anymore...That sort of feels how McCall feels about Thistle these days. For the record I want McCall to succeed, Ive not really wanted him out...however the last time i felt as bad as Saturdays result was when we lost 4-0 at home to Clyde. 2 weeks later the Bunnet was gone. I think McCall has steadied the sinking ship...we now need someone in who can take it forward. It can be done on a limited budget.
  11. horrific score. not mccalls fault that hes got no money to spend but very strange team selection today. interested to hear why Robbo was dropped and why Sid played in midfield
  12. Thought about him...I was under the impression he wouldnt drop from SPL standard. He'd certainly get a lot more money than at Killie
  13. I would say its a case of when, not if he gets sacked. Losing twice to lower league opposition and their early league form has been suspect. I doubt they will wait long before making changes so they dont find themselves too far behind in the title race. Candidates when he does go: McCall - alledgedly first choice last time but Chis was the cheaper option McPherson - cheap, won the league before Derek Adams - stock rose considerably last season John McGlynn - great start to this season and good cup run last year Billy Dodds - assistant promoted to manager
  14. I think 3-5-2 for this team is the only logical solution, McNamara as sweeper with a midfield 3 of Cairney, Flannigan and Rowson. A lot of energy in midfield and a decent passer/retainer of the ball in Flannigan on yesterdays showing. I actually thought Flannigan had a good game yesterday; keeping the ball moving and holding on to it when necessary after we went down to 10 men. Paton could do a job as a wing back - probably not ideal but he's ok for that position as he does have a good engine and hes crossing recently is better than the tail end of last season. Boyles had an ok start to the season so hopefully hes had a bit of confidence from that and keeps progressing, Having said all that...if Kinniburgh continues to feature in our team then we WILL concede goals. he is dangerous
  15. Cant believe the criticism. I think hes an very gifted player and absolute professional. Delighted he's still part of the team and i think he'll contribute again this season.
  16. Sorry but a lot of the criticism is totally OTT - its effectively a final pre-season game. The game wasnt great but at no stage did we look in any danger of losing the game. I have been a big critic of Boyle and Paton but I thought they both had decent games yesterday and Rowson for me was man of the match. Other than that the players were competent without showing much in the way of brilliance.
  17. Im sorry but i cant understand why people automatically assume we cant compete with Ayr Utd (etc) just because we dont sign a player mccall likes. each manager is given a budget...mccall chooses to spent it how he wishes. mccall has clearly decided flannigan is a better option than mclaughlin because i cant imagine their wage demands are vastly different thats hes gone for the cheap option. Brian Reid has clearly decided that he wants to spend his money on scott mclaughlin & not AN Other. Does that mean he cant compete with Elgin for wages...no...it just means he has chosen to spend his budget differently, For the record I'd mcuh rather have flannigan than mclaughlin on the basis hes played at a higher level and is still young enough to improve, develop and possibly get us a transfer fee. i doubt mclaughlin would have done that Incidentally were mckeown and mclaughlin not midfield partners together at airdrie and now at ayr utd...thats not a bad pairing for the second division.
  18. I dont often post often on here ref: the club/BOD but as a CF member I think its a farce that every single month theres seems to be a problem. Is it a surprise to someone that it happens once a month, every month...like clockwork?! If I paid my membership 3 days late every month then Im sure i'd hear about it, I just cant understand why its so hard to make a draw?!?! Can someone explain to me the complexities? Honestly...is it just me?
  19. My brother was at school with Ian and Ive met him at birthdays etc...very humble and i think he was depserate to get out of killie...he felt(and I agree) that they are a sinking ship. definitely got talent but he's same sort of size as Cairney so could possibly be a bit lightweight but certainly a step forward from Scott McLaughlin in my opinion. Would also give us better balance as i think he prefers to play right mid opposed to the centre but i could be mistaken.
  20. I didnt even think he was that good at the start of the season, Glad to see him go...a few others to follow hopefully
  21. Todays ET says its between us, Lincoln & a League 1 team for Scott McLaughlin We are his favoured destination apparently with a deal hoped to be comoleted within the week
