    Ptfc Rip?

You're not alone. The more I read of this kind of thing, to go with the latest Jags Trust comings and goings, it all get far too complicated, and seemingly down to personalities. I assume I'm not the only one who starts turning off mentally. It's certainly not apathy, a lot more like despair, with a degree of resignation, and....whatever. Que sera sera. I really don't know what or who to believe these days. It's getting to be like left wing politics, or Monty Python and the Judean People's Front. Maybe I was better in blissful ignorance before, maybe forums like this help, maybe they don't, but it's not surprising to me that many former regulars and occasionals are slowly drifting away. Hey! Can't we all just get along? It appears not. I gave up on that long ago. At least I have Hampden from the bottom of a Byres Road pint to sustain me tomorrow.
  2. I understand what you mean. Though I still care I'm feeling a bit lost in all this keech. I used to enjoy going to the Shad on a Saturday, sometimes a Tuesday. Then the shed was taken away. I then liked the main stand, but I can't go there any more either. Things are slowly fizzling out. One day the view across the back of the goal from the Jackie Husband will be blocked off. Maybe we will move one day. I'm not done yet but all these things, including Propco, chip away at it all.
  3. Who wants to work or be around such an a***hole? He was never consistent anyway, but you'd need to be pretty special on the field to balance out the rest. Sadly, he can probably expect a bad end, and I assume his football career might be near it's end.
  4. That always brings out the morons, who will be wailing away. I'm surprised they are able to use a phone. Murdo McLeod said that both of them would go through, but wait till this time next year and it will be the same again. They will never learn.
  5. Excuse me for being a stuck record but if Jackie Campbell doesn't get in then I'm going to start getting a bit p*ssed off, and I won't take the Hall Of Fame seriously until he is. There. Rant over again, for now. I've said my piece!
  6. Agreed. Jings. I hope he's not reading this. I'd be wondering what kind of over reacting, over analysing nuts some of us are, though most here don't mind it either. I sometimes listen to Radio Clyde Superscoreboard for a few minutes to laugh at the moronic Old Firm fans who call in, but sometimes I don't feel so superior.
  7. The Johnny Flood experience. Great player, but a really sad end to his Jags career. Eddie Prudham. 4 appearances and 5 goals was it? Something like that anyway. Never heard of again. Isaac English gave me some happy memories, including the last Jags goal in front of the Shed, and a personal fave, a winner at Dens, when I was living there! Work on Monday was fun. John Buckley did the same for me at Firhill once, a free kick for 1-0 against Dundee midweek, and also helped rip Raith apart 5-1 at Starks Park. Did he not pass away or something? Declan Roche! Remember his midweek cup televised strike at Brockville? Happy days.
  8. On Stamford Bridge wages he can afford it. They were not looking for much in these terms though it's a lot over there. Same thing happened to Yobo not so long ago, therefore...
  9. I know the country well and was fearful for his chances. Life can be cheap there, so that was good news. I assume that a lot of dodgy dealing was involved.
  10. I saw him a few weeks back (our kids do midweeks sports at the same venue) and we had a few words. He said "I'll be back" but I didn't ask for an explanation. He lives locally, so why not? I thought he did a decent job in difficult times, for what it's worth. I also think it was time to go when he did. Would I welcome him back one day? No comment as no opinion just now. It depends on too much but never say never.
  11. Speaking for me, I can't stomach traditional pies, never could, but love the likes of chicken balti pies to go with my bovril or tea. Tasty food at the fitba? Imagine. I hope the variety continues, or at least there are one or two alternatives to the traditional.
  12. That sounds familiar though my memories are very hazy. I remember running down to the newsagent (Dumbarton Road near Whiteinch) to get the paper and digesting the contents as I strolled back home. probably in danger of being run over as I crossed streets with less then half a mind on the traffic. The match reports were often clearly chopped off as they must have (at least sometimes) had to call the reports in before the games were finished, in order to meet the deadlines. All I was really interested in were the scores so I didn't mind much. Some of the pictures / posters ended up on my bedroom wall but I got more wallpaper from the Jags programmes. Aah, happy days eh?
  13. I get that. If I won, say, 10 mill I'd keep quiet (unlike the Largs couple) then (I like to think) give a sizeable wad to the club, maybe wipe out the o/d, but no publicity. That's only going to lead to other supporters shouting at you to give more and more until I'm signing on again. Investing in a football club is throwing money down a dark hole, never to be seen again. Wiping out the o/d would buy some influence though, so I'd do my best to get rid of Propco. Dream on....
  14. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14513281.stm Harkins in this report, No 2, and booked. A separate report mentioned Garry but I forget where. Doesn't matter of course but goes to show the level of care taken by the beeb these days, who can't ever be ersed reading out the scores on tv.
  15. I was checking match details on my blackberry on the way into town on Saturday (drowning sorrows and all that) and was horrified to see, in the Dundee v Ayr match stats, a yellow card for Garry Harkins of Dundee. wtf? Surely not? I wondered if they had swung a loan deal? Different spelling I know, extra r, but I don't trust the bbc to get these details correct I can't find out anything about this doppelganger, but the Metro said that Gary Harkins was in the Killie line-up yesterday. Garry was number 2 (no jokes pls) for Dundee. Can anybody shed some light? Nothing would surprise me with Dundee, but it is a helluva coincidence, even if it's only in name. Nothing to do with the Jags, but that's no bad thing just now. We'll be alright.....I think...
  16. If we got one we'd probably miss it, the way things are just now. But lets be positive. If we score one then confidence will start to flow and.....of course that will happen. I believe that, honest. Fact is I kinda do. We've scored against thes teams before and I don't think we're any worse than we were before. I think...
  17. I don't like losing any game but this tournament is worthless. That apart, another loss with no goals scored. We could get away with losing a goal per game but if we can't score then it's obviously a big problem.
  18. It was my daughter's 10th today so I wasn't there, and it's taken me this long to summon up the will to read the match report and the reactions. I was sick enough to hear the score, but then to hear it was so late on, then a Dundee fan txt Jim Traynor to admit it was a dive.....grrrrrrr.... I disliked Dundee anyway but......this is always my least favourite game, ugly sisters or Hearts aside. I'm going to pretend it didn't happen because I wasn't there. I must ask though, when they scored, did some of their "fans" come on to the pitch? They always used to, and it REALLY winds me up, and makes me hate them even more.
  19. That's a good shout actually, but I've voted already. Paton (home) cos he could be a big pleyer this season and we need to get more home sponsorships ticked off. Also, Archie (away) because he's the modern Jags icon. I nearly voted for J Campbell, just because that name is still magic to me.
  20. Couldn't agree more. As for Vlad, he gets away with it cos he has Hearts by the balls financially, but also because his "sfa mafia" rantings are lapped up and accepted by many in the Hearts support who believe that everybody in the sfa and the weegie West coast conspire against them. A bit like Celtic really, only with them it's an anti-Irish perceived bias. It will never change, but they're only holding themselves back. I dislike Hearts almost as much as the ugly sisters, but feel some pity too. Too much inbreeding perhaps. Bless.
  21. Spot on. The example that always makes me laugh, and correct me if I don't get the detail quite right, is when Dundee United signed the wrong player, an Argentinian was it? Was he even a footballer at all? Hadn't they seen him on video or something, then got his cousin? This guy might be good but let's not be like the old firm and abuse any home grown players who are less than fantastic and assume that because other players are from abroad that they must be good. Look what they did to Charlie Adam. Who's sorry now? haw haw.
  22. I was in the Horseshoe last night and thought I'd watch it. I watched about 30 seconds, saw a totally empty stand behind the goal, and turned away. I didn't even see the penalty being gven tho I saw Gallacher save out the corner of my eye. One for supporters only. Who would want to watch that? I think we might need to go down further before we can go up as the way it is just now our game is fecked, totally. Without a crowd we might as well watch a park kickabout, or the Premiership. I'm bored with that too though. Perhaps in Tennants after Firhill over a couple of beers, otherwise MOTD highlights is more like my taste now. Not good at al really. Overexposure.
  23. Ah tootsy bumbaroney....ah tootsy buhm buhm...... In case you're unaware you can see old episodes of Charles Endell Esquire online now, including this one, which many of you might want to watch. On you go, if you make it through the opening titles you may be rewarded with a wee Jags related surprise. Some other episodes feature old Maryhill landscapes, much different to todays. Urban wasteland or whit? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOxH5Q2Mtg0&list=SL
  24. That's what I love, different tastes and opinions. For me the pink camouflage was a horror, maybe, probably the worst kit we've ever had, though I thought the pink hoops were kinda cool, though I didn't buy it. The pink camo was like an 80s throwback, the decade that taste forgot, not least in fitba kits. Anyway, opinions are like... I'm not sure about the new kit yet. Don't mind it so far, but to be honest I hope we revert back to hoops or something else next season, and I suspect we will.
