  1. If union membership is so wonderful then why isn't everyone a member? Maybe partly because of the attitude shown in your post e.g. Anyone who doesn't agree with union policy is either a freeloader or a scab ( or maybe both). If the majority of the workforce in the UK aren't in a union does that mean that either the Union isn't getting their message across or that their message just isn't relevent any more. Very easy to sit with people who agree with your point of view(thats why forums are so popular). Far more difficult to try and explain that point of view to others who might disagree with you. Far easier to call them scabs and freeloaders and avoid any real discussion. Hate to tell you this as i'm sure as a union rep you will already know, verbal abuse i.e. calling a colleague a scab is treated the same under law as physical abuse and is regarded in any workplace as bullying ( incase you try to say that this would never happen just read a copy of an email sent from Jon Rogers, branch secretary Unison, South Lambeth). Of course its far easier to have a go at Clarkson for his jokes. As a union rep would you represent a member of your union who chose to broke last weeks strike as vigourously as you would someone who did strike?
  2. You will learn that if you don't agree with certain groups on here that you will be subject to abuse. Thats why a lot of Jags fans dont bother posting or even looking on here now.
  3. Why not organise a work to rule instead of striking? That way both union and non union members can take part, nobody loses their days wage and IMVHO it would have a far greater effect than striking. Of course the only downside would be that the unions wouldn't have been able to have their political strike and the chance to bully and abuse their colleagues.
  4. Written in the early 1900's. Pity the thinking of the unions is still stuck there. But what do you expect from bullies?
  5. Because only Unions can win these things for you. These things cant be gained by being good at your job, being successful and actually making a difference to others? What happens in companies where there are no unions? No wage rises, unsafe working environments? Also looks like those secured and agreed pension deals that the unions won are not worth the paper they are written on. Noticed you ignored the last question from my last post. IMVHO unions and their continual lack of compromise have hurt more workers (and the general public) over recent years than they have helped. When was the last time strikers actually won something from a strike? As for this strike even after the proposed changes the public sector workers will still have higher wages than the private sector for comparible jobs, better terms and conditions and a greater pension than the private sector. Stop listening to 'Gold plated pensions' and 'work longer, pay more, get less' and start dealing with facts. Both sides are as bad as each other over this.
  6. Why don't we go and find all these 'scabs' and put bricks through their windows or threaten their families like the good old days? How dare they not share the same opinion as the unions and those on strike? How dare they put their own families before the cause? Love the way that some people are of the opinion that only the strikers point of view is important. It's like being in an episode of Life on Mars. Remind me again how well the miners did out of their strike?
  7. Sad, quite sad. I see the union leaders didn't strike today, they still got paid. Still as long as they have enough brainwashed zombies out there to fight their battles for them.
  8. So even if you strongly disagreed with the strike and it had nothing to do with you or the business sector that you were employed in, you would put your own employment at risk by refusing to cross a picket line. Seems perfectly logical to me.
  9. You are of course suggesting that all of those SNP MSP's are members of a union which is striking today. Or are you suggesting that people with no legal right to strike should just take the day off rather than do the job that they are paid for?
  10. Who the hell decided which players to include? Totally pointless poll
  11. Go and watch Highland League instead. Cheaper, friendlier and more fun. Plenty of teams in the area to watch.
  12. That was meant to be sarcasm. Maybe I should have used a smiley.
  13. Probably the most honest post i've read on this thread. Forget all the financial arguments, etc. If you feel Scottish then you must want independence. I assume that everybody voting for independence on the argument that we can survive on our own two feet and don't need England/ the union/ westminster will also agree with not joining the euro and basically being run from Brussels instead. The main thing that puts me off independence is that it wouldn't be independence. It would just be changing masters. Look at Ireland, Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal. All of these independent countries are having to implement financial cuts on orders/directions from Brussels. Maybe independence and joining the Euro would have worked at the start (Ireland certainly benefitted) but I honestly don't see the benefits in joining now. When we go for independence we should go from a position of strength. To join something that looks as if it could collapse any day would not be good for Scotland.
  14. Any team that can show some consistancy and get a run of wins can pull away from the rest. Why not us?
  15. Why would you include people getting in for free in the break even figure?
  16. Are we going to be anywhere near the break even figure of 2500 per game? Remember that under 16's have to be taken off the attendance figures.
  17. Just goes to show that season ticket holders really are the best fans.
  18. Love the way some people on here love to argue the finer points of law when the closest they ever get to the law is watching repeats of Ironside on BBC. And as for those who start talking about freedom of speech and human rights. How come its only YOUR freedom of speech or YOUR human rights that are important? If it's true freedom of speech that you want then there can be no complaints about any songs that any team sing including the old firm.
  19. That any political topic on this fourm will result in the same sad losers trotting out the same argument over and over and over again until the rest of us don't care and just wish that they would piss off and go back to their obvious days jobs of saving the world (or being a student/ union rep) The fact that you have to spend days repeating the same point on a football forum rather than actually being in a position where your views are listened to or acted upon in the real world should tell you just how much you actually understand what you are talking about. Quoting Marx or similar does not make you sound smart, neither does throwing in Latin phrases. Just makes you sound like a twat.
  20. Don't believe everything you read. Another nonsense story. Sinclair might have potential but no where near championship standards
  21. Make its mind up what exactly it wants to be. Does it want to be the voice of the fans, puting forward the fans point of view to the BOD or does it want to be more involved in the community/ fundraising aspects of the club? Either way the most important thing to get right is communication.
  22. I saw someone with a hot dog before the game yesterday. I assume they didn't bring it in with them so they must still be selling them at Firhill.
  23. I remember hearing a stat just before the berwick game as well
  24. And what would your reaction be if it was the English Universities that allowed every one in the EU to study in England for free except the Scots? That is exactly what is happening here in reverse.
