  1. A few years ago I would have said no way to fake pitches. I'm very much a traditionalist when it comes to football. However, given the current state of Firhill and having sampled the new 4G surface recently I would now be in favour of an artificial surface. Pretty well summed up HJ in any case. We've just lost far too many games to the weather this season.
  2. I absolutely admire FT, and yourself Tom. But how long can guys like you two keep on grafting for the club when the place is in such a mess? I was there through Save The Jags, I was there through the successive management teams of Collins, D&G and Campbell. However, there's something different about what's going on just now. Results on the park are not THAT bad. The team have done pretty well considering the circumstances and look certain to survive. But still, the place is worse than I ever remember it on match days. I think the game as we know it in this country is dying. I think that about 10-15 clubs will cease to exist within the next 5-10 years and I really do think we will be one of them if we don't do something drastic NOW. Getting Tom Hughes to give back his shares would be a start.
  3. FT I have a season ticket and I don't think I'll be back this season. The club is absolutely rotten to the core. It's a miserable place to watch football and it gets worse every time I go there. Saturday was quite simply an abysmal experience.
  4. I fully accept that at the moment we rely completely on the warriors income. However, WHY is this? Why are other clubs surviving without renting their grounds to rugby teams? I would argue that the reason we rely on the warriors income so solely down to the financial mismanagement of the club over the past 10 years. I would argue that the football has suffered because of the rugby.
  5. Discuss... Saturday for me was the worst I've ever seen it, probably because there was a rugby match the night before. The worst I had seen it before saturday was the 1st leg playoff defeat to Peterhead in May 2006. But Saturday, for me, was much worse.
  6. The star used to allow kids in but the polis clamped down on that a couple of years back. Don't really know where the law stands on this but some pubs appear to be able to allow kids and some don't.
  7. We should just play them once in a 9 pointer.
  8. Looks like a great performance. It's no wonder that fans are refusing to travel with all of the late call offs we've had this season. We've learned the hard way that 9am, 11am and even mid day pitch inspections mean **** all and the game can still get binned after 2pm. It was certainly a factor for me. But anyway, fair doos to the fans that did go and again what a performance, Paddy Boyle winning the ball and then going on to finish for the 2nd goal, absolutely superb. I'm happy to say I've been proved wrong on this lad. Last season he just looked completely out of his depth but he is a man reborn this season.
  9. Add in the fact that he is a first class prick. A couple of years ago I witnessed this guy shouting at a 10 year old boy to get out of the pub while watching a Scotland game. Happy to report that it was Currie who was told to leave, not the kid! Glad he's not a jags fan
  10. The one thing that would worry me is the mixture of men and women in games. Now I may be branded as sexist here but I can assure you that is not my intention. We all know that some people are quite competitive, myself included. Now if I'm going in for a 50/50 challenge and i'm up against a woman, I would be worried about hurting her. Now, I could pull out the challenge, and the other team goes up the park and scores, or I could commit to the challenge and seriously injure the woman. Now what does that make me look like? I think a better idea would be to have maybe one woman's game (or more if there is enough interest) and the rest all male. Surely others on here have the same concerns?
  11. I'll tell you what got me excited the other day. A guy walking down St Georges Road with the legendary GREY BASEBALL JACKET. Superb!
  12. Thanks Lads. Having heard so many of Alan's stories over the last few years I thought it was essential that someone got his memories down on tape. I can honestly say that one of the main reasons I still go to Firhill (there are not many) is so I can get a chat with Alan in the Star afterwards. There have been times when I've been ready to chuck Thistle all together but every time Alan has persuaded me otherwise. I think guys like Alan who have served the club so loyally over the years should be recognised formally by the club in some way. This guy has only missed 5 home games since 1960. He was a former bus convener and still travels to just about every game wherever it is. I would think that there is at least 4 or 5 other guys who have been following Thistle as long as Alan. What a great occasion it would be if we could get them all together for an evening to share their memories. A SUPPORTERS HALL OF FAME. Could be an excellent fundraiser.
  13. :thumbsup2: :thumbsup2: Always great to hear memories of that day
  14. Out of interest Spanish Jag where have you got all your footage from? Some real crackers in there, even the ones not involving Thistle. Many thanks for the taking the time and effort to upload it all
  15. Would appreciate if you could sort it out between you, can't really believe it's gone on this long. Alan himself has been asking about it as his grand kids in Canada are wanting to hear it.
  16. I handed over the Alan Dickson interview to Craig in August, as I was led to believe that he was involved in the jagscast. When you guys didn't receive it you could have let me know!
  17. All that stuff about "We never thought for a minute we could win" I think is a lot of shite. On the 1971 DVD all those interviewed said they believed they could win. You don't win a football match without belief and those players DID have that, despite what John Hansen says.
  18. Ended up at the Pollok game yesterday. Not a classic, they went down 2-1 to Cumnock. However, a great experience as usual. Took a few cans in with us. Didn't see anyone else drinking to be fair but there were no problems. Had a few in the social club afterwards as well.
  19. It really is a tremendous ground. I've seen some terrific games there. Last time I was there for the game against Largs Thistle the Largs assistant manager was ordered away from the dugout. 5 minutues later he was standing behind us in the shed! Only at the Juniors!
  20. He definitely DID NOT vote for Jim, that's for sure. He either obstained or voted against Jim.
  21. Yip. My folks live down there and I've seen the jags first team training there on many occasions.
  22. These videos are absolutely tremendous. As marketing tools they are about as effective as they come. We are looking to get fans back through the door again, memories like this are exactly the kind of thing that could make that happen, simply because of the emotions they stir up - PASSION & PRIDE. It is these two emotions which could bring lapsed fans back through the gates again, god knows there is enough of them out there. It just beggars belief that the shareholders can not see the bigger picture when it comes to Jim Alexander and the marketing guys. Yet more proof that people like Tom Hughes and Eddie Prentice are continually putting petty personal grievances over what is best for Partick Thistle. This could be the death of the club. It is my opinion that we as supporters must now take action and let everyone know that Hughes is still running the club. Real resistance is needed here.
