  1. I'm a Dolphin's fan and I'm interested to see how Brady does against us this season. Don't have the money but have mixed feelings about Wembley. If Thistle played a game in Florida just for the sake of it I'd be raging about it, whilst I slate celtic for going to USA for silly games which surely must tire them out. I do get however, that NFL players are always flying around the place for games. Watched the Falcons documentary, thought it was ace!
  2. I don't know much about Propco, so no. My lack of knowledge on this subject is why I started the post. I don't remember the outrage when we sold a bit of the north end to build the NS, so what's the difference with the the MS or the Bing? Saving up to build a new stand is good in theory but how long would that take, and how much would we lose during that time in additional repairs/stewarding silly away fans/fans not going because of the stand?
  3. Top 6 is a possibility if we get off to a flyer, but I'd be happy with 7th or 8th with a better home record and maybe an extra 12-15 points. Trying to establish ourselves as a Premier League team would be helped by one good cup run
  4. Perhaps not, but I've not seen much of Gabby. I'm near the corner flag at the city end and there always seems to be loads of space for the opposition left mid. The problem also seems to be similar whether its SOD or McMillan, so I'm not sure if its a coaching issue. McMillan seems to be that wee bit short of pace, usually after going forward, and SOD seems to have lost confidence prior to his injury. I take your point on the age though. Think another coach is desperately needed for the defence though.
  5. Thought I'd start a new topic to avoid diverting from the board's PR disaster and general poor treatment of the fans. What's the actual status of the Main Stand? Do we own it? Would it not be cheaper to launch a fundraising drive to flatten/rebuild than constantly tinkering around with it. I remember there were plans to rebuild it with very few seats, has that been shelved? It would be great to rebuild it from scratch, with corporate boxes, decent Police Control Room, a restaurant, and maybe one sink. I know this dream is very optimistic (particularly the sink) but could we not approach the Council or Glasgow Uni to see if we could do something with the land there. Perhaps the Council's attitude has changed, their recent record of assisting Glaswegian Premiership teams is impressive. I was at Leyton Orient's ground last year, and its like a big Love Street, but with 4 sets of flats filling in the corners. I understand the Council required at least one of the blocks to be for social housing. Think it's worth the club contacting the Council, GHA or the Uni and putting out feelers.
  6. Taking aside the success of avoiding relegation I would rebuild the defence. We cannot cope with set pieces, our full backs cannot defend at all, and with rebuilding the defence if suggest Archie gets a defensive coach, ironic as it may seem. I'd keep Conrad, Gabby and Muirhead on account of age and potential, but let SOD, McMillan and Mair go. I like them all and they do try but Mair has been caught out too many times at crosses for my liking, McMillan and SOD always get sucked into the centre of defence, and failing to hold a lead this season has possibly cost us about £500k. I know I sound a bit like Buzz Killington, I'm very happy we avoided relegation and over the course we've earned it, but how many goals have we actually conceded that have been due to skill on our opponents end? I'd suggest about 90% of our goals have come from failure to deal with a set piece, and from today's game I'd suggest Archie needs someone to specifically coach the defence.
  7. I'm no expert but the reason for the Celtic move was due to wooden parts of the stand/fire risk etc. From memory there were flares and smoke bombs let off by Hearts and Motherwell also. I'd guess it's a backside covering exercise by the board in case any fan lets of a flare. I'd imagine the North Stand would be easier to steward/police as well, so perhaps that's their thinking. As far as I'm concerned, you either get granted a safety certificate or you don't. If the Main Stand has one then put the away fans in there and just make sure it's properly stewarded. I'm in the JHS and think the atmosphere created in the old Viagra Stand is tremendous, the board can't just decide to chuck our fans out with some vague/exaggerated/fictitious reason .
  8. Think this is the start of a move to a London NFL team? https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/AmericanFootball_UKParliamentSurvey
  9. I'll obviously still be attending whatever league we're in, but it could spell the end of full time football. A play off place would be no guarantee next year for whoever gets relegated, but Hearts, Rangers 2.0, Falkirk and Dundee will be in stronger positions in terms of financing. Should we survive this year we could aspire to establish ourselves in the top flight and perhaps make inroads towards Europe, or a cup run. With the way Scottish football is right now, it's probably the worst year for us to get relegated.
  10. We're not 8th in the league so it doesn't really matter
  11. Not sure how many are out of contract if I'm honest but I'm sure a few of our better players would be away. Re: my comparisons to other posters, I'm sure I'll cope.
  12. Problem is, we have signed good players, and retaining Archie will probably see us relegated, with the loss of our better players, leaving us facing Hearts, Falkirk, Rangers 2.0, with an inexperienced and poor team
  13. Major problem is, should we get relegated, half of our team will disappear, leaving us to compete with A strong Hearts and Rangers 2.0 (now with £1 Trillion war chest), add that to Falkirk and Dundee etc, we could easily drop another division, I'm genuinely wondering if we will win at all at Firhill this season
  14. Also, McMillan has been an absolute disaster at right back, how he gets a start is beyond me. Always out of position.
  15. Thought ATS ran into the guy and surprised we got it. The problem is the management. We have a decent squad who are constantly being tinkered about with, And and subject to unnecessary substitutions. We failed to sign an experienced central defender in August, instead signing a young, inexperienced Mexican with absolutely no knowledge of the Scottish game, and our marquee signing in January throws our best player on the bench to perform Bairds former role. I'm very much a half full man but we appear to be naively charging towards the play offs and Archie's sighs and hard luck yarns are becoming tiresome. Don't know if sacking him would be any good but if we're all repeating ourselves come March then it may have to be done. I also feel David Cameron should shoulder the blame, as it appears fashionable to hold him responsible for most things that are rubbish these days.
  16. Good luck Seahawks, usually I'd be supporting the AFC sides, but I like the attitude of the the Hawks and the fans (although #25 is a bit of a prat) Just got Madden 13 on 360, a wee while before I get the One. Any tactical tips for the players career mode? Decided to go with Ryan Tannahill. Unfortunately the Dolphins are terrible!
  17. Just in, looking forward to my dinner, think I'll have to eat my own words, YUM!
  18. And I don't like the look of Gary Fraser either. Regardless, hopefully January's signings will make up for some of Archie's earlier errors.
  19. Although I'm an optimist at heart, I questioned Archibald's signings at the start of the season. Baird was given few chances, Gabriel is all over the place, and Mudenki and Kerr done an excellent job testing the new dug out seats, but little else. The new signings look promising but I would have preferred another couple of defenders. If we keep ATS then I'll be over the moon, as I was expecting to lose him.
  20. I think they both have more grit than Craigen (not to make him a scapegoat, but he needs to be benched) and both hold the ball well. The issue yesterday was Taylor getting into good positions with little support. Perhaps Taylor (bit stronger) just behind Dools would be an good option.
  21. Brilliant!!!! Great signing, can't wait for tomorrow!
  22. Quite possibly, when I started watching in 92/93, the only QB I remember that ran forward was Randall Cunningham of the Eagles. From watching clips recently it appears a lot more of them are doing it. Got myself a Tivo box this week, means I can tape Channel 4 tonight and the Superbowl, pretty chuffed! Bad luck with the semis Blackpool, at least your team made it that far. Watched the last regular season clips of the Jets Dolphins game, defended like Thistle!!!
