Tranche 2 & the Preservation of Power

Hello, Anyone in here? It's been silent for the last 24 hours.. Which is most unusual................ -

Apologies for the selective quotation - this is most likely the crux of it. -
I will agree up to a point. As an old git, I'm a traditionalist. When it becomes that almost every announcement is sponsored by X Y or Z then it is intrusive to the match day experience. Others may have a different view, which is fair enough.
-
Thanks for responding Michael M. Your point is fair and worthy of mature debate. Personally, I'd rather we didn't go down the route of cringey American style sponsorship. We are better than that in my opinion. We play our games in Glasgow G20 not bloody Manhattan. I have no idea what the financial benefit to the club is from these so-called 'sponsorships'. To the best of my knowledge it has not been made public. If you are at liberty to do so, then please let us know, it would at least give us plebs a context as to why it happens. I guess I just don't want Thistle to become an object for 'monetisation' by brands that have bugger all to do with the club. There's more I could say, but I will leave it at that for tonight. Cracking result today, well done to the players and the management team.

Fantastic result. Honestly thought neither team deserved to lose. No idea why it was deemed to be a penalty especially as nobody was claiming for anything. Fitzy and Logan must have played a dozen balls across the face of goal without any of them falling to a Jagsman. My only gripe after a brilliant result are the cringey and frankly embarsssing sponsors references. McTear the auctionee for substitutionsr. The one after the goal which probably puts the team off scoring. The worst of the lot - which takes some doing given the above - is the Man of the Match, sponsored by Pasitti (sic) Jones. Pathetic stuff Thistle. If you have to have a sponsor then at least learn to pronounce their name correctly.

It's you're in all three cases. That stuff is Joe Normal to anyone who ever paid attention in class JJ. -

Spending less time looking at numbers - where your analysis is dodgy at best - and devoting time to achieving basic standards of English language construction might be a more constructive use of your time JJ.................. -
Strange game. We could/should have been out of sight by half time if we had been in any way clinical, and yet they could have been level with probably the best chance of the half. They dominated the second half, probably could/should have won it, and yet we had three good openings that we failed to convert through poor decision making. Draw was probably fair overall. Both goals were absolute peaches. Thought we looked much more like ourselves today. Brighter, more creative and haven't seen Banzo play that well in a long while. Ashcroft is a defensive rock. Now if we can just rediscover our ruthlessness in the penalty box.....................

Thanks for another of your irrelevant interventions JJ. Is your brother Ian McCall?

Not quite Maryhill, but Keith Moon in Auchinleck has to be a contender. https://www.cumnockchronicle.com/news/15001801.authors-book-recalls-the-whos-performance-in-auchinleck-in-april-1969/

Thanks for this LIB. Hadn't realised that a gem of a drummer like Steve Gadd was playing such a humble venue as he is next Saturday. Sadly I'll be in Warsaw for something considerably less interesting.
-
Think you may be confusing the drummer (Pierre van der Linden) with Thijs van Leer, the keyboard, flautist and yodellist. The latter does the vocals. Pierre van der Linden was absolutely something else tonight. His dexterity at 76 (3 drum solos) is exceptional.

Just back from Focus at Oran Mor, which was a great night out. Never seen a left handed six stringed bass before for sure!! Sylvia was played with a disguised funky intro, and the performance was gorgeous. it got me thinking, was there a particular moment when Sylvia was adopted as a Jags Saturday Special?

Exactly this. Many folks do not appreciate that when Aiden draws defenders towards him, he is creating the avenues of space that Harry has been exploiting so well so far this season. -

You ain't half bitter after a welcome Jags win. Are you Ian McCall? -
The Scottish Cup game will be the 12th meeting since 1/1/2023. The attendance yesterday - a reasonably sunny day - was less that 2800. Which is disappointing for a Glasgow derby. There's a reason for that.

Enjoy your night in Spain javeajag and don't get too stressed about the Jags.. The league is a marathon. 5th in October isn't worth worrying about. It's the position in April/May that counts. Results like today's - irrespective of the flaws in performance - will be significant in achieving that target.
-
All true. However the context is also that we won the game. So the objective of playing the game has been achieved. No ifs and no buts about that. Result over performance every time. The manager and the players can dissect the performance on Tuesday morning, as is their job to do so. The rest of us can enjoy our Saturday night knowing that we have another three points on the board. Well, most of the rest of us can...................

Jeezuz wept JJ. Please give it a rest. Every week you come up with the same circular rhetoric. Constantly repeating the same stuff on numerous threads that is patiently rebutted by fellow posters with the appropriate inside knowledge has stopped being tedious and has become downright annoying. At the risk of once again appearing harsh, please take time off from constantly posting your conspiracy theories on multiple threads, and instead invest some time in studying basic grammar. Once you've mastered that, then maybe consider a debating skills course. Both would go some way to making your contributions more palatable. -

You could have MBappe, Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezmann playing for Thistle yesterday and the outcome would not have been any different. Graham, Ablade and Fitzpatrick fed on scraps yesterday, and we were fortunate that Aidan thankfully turned one of those scraps into the winning goal, along with a large slice of Mehmet being caught unawares by his shot. We've been far more solid defensively lately, but the most effective blend in midfield has yet to be identified which is likely the root of us going long ball so much more often this season so far. Probably Daniel Mackay getting crocked has been a major spanner in the works in that regard, but that doesn't excuse a clear lack of fluency from the other midfield combinations available.
