Both Docherty and Lyons don't need to follow their pre-contracts. Most, if not all players will have a relegation clause that will allow them to leave. How many will take this option is really hard to guess but I would think many will. If we go to league one then I would expect another huge turn over of players.

The reason for the team would have probobly been McCall does not want to risk injury going into such a vital stage of the season.

We failed to get Mansell out on loan and move Austin on. That would have gave us the option of bringing in another striker and wide player. It was always going to be difficult to get all the players that needed to move on out though.

Where and when does the final take place?

Looks like the Mansell deal to Raith has fallen through as they are looking to sign Steven MacLean on loan now. Looks like we need to get some current players off the wage bill before any more new faces in. Taking a risk going with 3 centre backs and a right-sided midfielder would be good.

I take some players have opted to stay put rather take the pay off.

Yes I agree but as said below not sure we will turnover that amount of players plus we will mosty be offering loans and short-term deals and that will limit our options. Not sure if Jones is 100% safe either to be honest.

How the new partnerships of the centre-backs and forwards do is going to be key. Ayr are bang in form and this should prove to be a entertaining match. I would be surprised if McCall stuck with 3 at the back. Letting Forrest be isolated with O’Connor might not be the best thing to allow.

Think we still have Harkins , Mansell, Austin and Robsen that will probably leave in this window. This would leave 17 in the squad so plenty of potencial deals still to be done. So they could be as many as five still to come in. Deals might not be able to be done with all of the 4 above but I think McCall will want them gone. One of two players that can play multile postions would be good. That was the thinking behind going for Gary Miller who has been playing a holding role on midfiled for Falkirk. As we know he can play right-back and centre-back. Huge changes in this window and looks like there will be very few 'caldwell' players left after January.

Think we have more business to do. There is a few players currently in our squad that we will try to move on - not just Harkins and Mansell.
