  1. No-one has any right to worry unless we fail to beat Airdrie. In fairness, yesterday we had a good goal chalked off and another cleared off the line. We should still have done better in the first half, but there's little to worry about yet. As Jagfox said, Morton are a good side who will be thereabouts in May/
  2. I think we miss O'Donnell at right back more than any other player because there's no logical replacement. Muirhead does a decent job, but he's too defensive for the role, and his efforts are better spent alongside Archie/Balatoni in the centre. I think Muirhead does drag Erskine back slightly to compensate, but there's not too much in it. Erskine still looked like a threat until he was taken off. SoJ was excellent yesterday but went off in the second half. He was unlucky not to have a couple of goals by then, and as frustrating as his moment of selfishness was (where he fired over instead of teeing up Erskine for a tap in), it's the sign of a good striker. I hope we keep him.
  3. We were robbed, and would probably (but not certainly) have hung on with 11 men, but we shouldn't have given Morton a chance to get back into the game and were wasteful.
  4. I imagine Jackie still has some say (if only in the form of shouting to get someone off), but otherwise it's Donnelly's show I suspect.
  5. What if Fox gets injured again? No-one ever thinks it'll happen until it does, and you need to be prepared. He's not a patch on Fox, but he's a good back-up who probably doesn't cost us very much.
  6. I'd say it's harsh to blame Smith for that. On a day when the whole team (except Archie) wasn't at the races he was no worse than anyone else, and he's had some good displays this season. I say keep him as back-up until May, as hopefully Scully/Wightman will have improved by then.
  7. It's weird, because he is a much better player than Craig, yet you can't argue with Craig's scoring form. Still, Craig was isolated in the second half today in a way which Doolan probably wouldn't be.
  8. We should have been out of sight by half time, and we showed a worrying collapse in the second half which culminated in Morton winning when they should have been buried. Archie was excellent all game, Smith was suspect, everyone else was mediocre. The referee was appalling, I wouldn't like to wish him on a Sunday league. They ask for respect, but performances like that give referees a bad name. Inconsistent, far too keen to put his hand in his pocket, and didn't seem to have a grip on an important match. It seemed every 50/50 decision went Morton's way (including the disallowed goal early on) and Forbes should never have been sent off. His first booking wasn't a free kick let along a booking.
  9. This one will attract a good number of lapsed Morton fans as well due to its importance and locality, though. 2000 is optimistic, but I can see them bringing 1500 through, and we'll do well to be prepared just in case.
  10. Considering it's the weekend before Christmas and pouring with rain everywhere, those are respectable numbers.
  11. I would have thought Dumbarton would have split it 50/50, but whatever. When you think about it though, I don't think there will be a mad rush this time around. Our travelling support has been around the 900 mark for local-ish games (I know we took 1400 to Hamilton, but that was a Friday night), so while some folk will be disappointed, it probably won't be the huge number we're talking about. May in another matter, though.
  12. Both the editing and the camera work are much improved over previous matches this season (I like to think my re-edit of the Livi highlights inspired that, but I know that's not true). I'd stick to the one font though, and I wouldn't replay sound over the replays. Craig's play for the first goal was superb, given he was fouled twice. A perfect pass to Bannigan and a good finish where the keeper won't reach it. Lawless' was well struck but deflected (those things happen both ways), and Craig's winner was fantastic opportunism. We were lucky to win that one, but a thrilling match.
  13. I don't think Dumbarton would turn down the opportunity to get a crowd of 3000-4000 (which, if the title is decided on the last day, is quite likely), so I expect they'll either put up a temp stand or play the game elsewhere. I doubt there's anything stopping them from playing at Cappielow, for example, as Morton are away on the last day.
  14. I could have sworn the away section was smaller yesterday. Looking at the pictures I took of both yesterday and the Dunfermline cup game it seems like I was right, with the Raith fans having a whole section of seats less. I fully expect it to be bigger for the Morton game though. I wonder how many Morton will bring. Their home attendances have been pretty variable this season, with over 3500 when we went there yet only 1300 yesterday. I know we took a fair number with us, but that's still a big difference. Considering this is a bigger game than the one at Cappielow, and that it's on Boxing day, I would expect at least 1000, probably quite a bit more.
  15. Well, there was a massive piss-up at the union which will have floored a few people, so parties and shopping are the most likely reasons. Also, if money is tight around this time of year, any rational person would choose the Morton match over this one.
  16. As I've said elsewhere, losing Doolan would be better than losing Erskine because Craig and McGuigan are able to step in. A front three of Lawless, Craig and McGuigan could be very spicy though.
  17. As long as you score more goals than you concede it doesn't really matter. Still, I think we're really solid with Balatoni and Muirhead at the back. We have conceded few goals with that combination this season, though I reckon this will be Archie's last season (at least at this level), and we would need to find a replacement for him in case of injury and suspension.
  18. I was surprised when he replaced Erskine because it didn't seem like a like-for-like replacement, but the big guy was really good today and really proved why Jackie rates him. Might be worth a start against Ardrie in a couple of weeks where he could wreak havoc with their defence.
  19. Would agree with pretty much everything there, but I think Balatoni deserves a mention. He was excellent again today and got us out of a few tight spots.
  20. Summer football. Pretty much every other country with a miserable winter plays in the summer, yet we don't for whatever reason.
  21. Considering that it was a freezing night in the north east, that's pretty good.
  22. The miss, Jesus' goal and Dargo's reaction get better every time you see them. Top quality highlights from LiviTV again, the envy of the rest of the division.
  23. I would be surprised if it's just Hibs, as any English club poking around up here will surely have seen him. I think we have to accept that we'll lose Erskine (and probably Doolan) at some point. Even in the SPL we wouldn't be able to compete with the likes of Hibs for wages, so we have to enjoy our good players while it lasts. Still, I hope he sticks around for the rest of the season at least. He is one of our standout players this season and I think we would miss him more than Welsh and Paton.
  24. The meltdown on P&B over this has been epic. I hope we're above it, but I know we're not.
