  1. Some of you guys are very knowledable on European football. I suppose I could check this out myself. Is this apparently crazy looking set up, or similar, of 16 – 10 – 18, used anywhere else. Or is it just another ill thought out SFA proposal.
  2. You’re absolutely right, garbage is what the food at Firhill is. Just seeing someone stuff their gob with the greasy shite gies me the boke. Wish they’d create a pie eating section just like the singers.
  3. Jimmy Sevile was a great wonderful guy (personally not me), until some known facts were revealed. And now for me Owen is …
  4. You are perfectly correct, my apologies. It's just that I think we have a huge problem and not much is being done about it..
  5. I must admire the eternal optimism of some of you guys. The Fletchers now available for selection will give the team a boost. We may even beat Wales on the strength of it but the bigger picture still exists. Scotland will never compete with the big boys again unless the health and fitness of the nation is addressed. Generally I am not one of life’s pessimists, after all I go to Firhill, but perhaps because the years are running out for me ever seeing a decent Scotland team again, I think the reality is until the government, sports bodies and above all the schools are supported to take the long term view and focus on the fitness of our children we will never be any better than below mediocre at sport. Also as long as parents continue to feed our kids crap food (like Firhill pies) Scottish football will continue to decline. Just as a matter of interest. I take my grandsons to various five-a-side pitches, no one seems to bother if you have a kick about on any of the pitches not in use. The boys love it they say they can practice their skills and I get some exercise too. Their dad, and I don’t care if he reads this, thinks encouraging his kids to be sporty is letting them watch football on Sky Sports. He once took them to the wrestling which is nothing short of a pantomime. It would suit him better, and his kids, if he took them out in the fresh air at the weekend. He says after a stressful week at work he needs to wind down and relax. The point am making saying all of this is I suspect he’s quite typical of lots of dads.
  6. Yes really enjoyed the coverage, except for the camera positions. Not of the actual game but of Firhill itself. I had a text message from friends in England asking about the empty stand and waste ground. It was not the impression they had of Firhill Stadium. I now sort of regret telling them to tune into BBC Alba.
  7. I came to the conclusion some time ago that Team Scotland would not be going anywhere anytime soon. You can point the finger at the manager for some aspects of the game. You can blame the players, but as far as I can see they try their best. They are just not good enough. Scotland is an unhealthy nation that does not value health and fitness. And for as long as the government, the ruling sporting bodies and our primary schools don’t get the finger out and take health and fitness seriously and invest money to provide decent all weather sporting facilities and improve the eating habits of our young people we will continue to be a second rate sporting country. As it happens I think the whole of the UK suffers from a similar malaise. Just take a look at the current hot topic about the pies at Firhill. Okay you might say what the hell is that got to do with Scotland and sport but it is indicative of our attitude to healthy eating. Some may say, but Scotland has just produced Andy Murray. Well not quite. Andy had to leave Scotland at an early age for Spain to develop his tennis skills. I don’t like being such a cynic but even if there was a ground shift in attitudes today it would take a decade to produce results. What can be done to demand that changes must be made?
  8. Hopefully it was just a few ignorant bampots senselessly mouthing off last night. I for one would try and make sure Erskine understands we appreciate his efforts.
  9. I was thinking with recent fan power resulting in the new Rangers being consigned to division 3 the club had reckoned on a bigger turnout of fans today to show support for their club. Lance has explained differently. It remains to be seen if fans will turn out in increased numbers on 11th, not just at Firhill, and if they don't Scottish football is indeed in for straiten times. Those of us at Firhill today can see some promising things with this team. Well done Thistle.
  10. Could have played like Barca, that right? Well who cares who voted yes who cares who voted no, who put their foot in who put their foot out. I for one’ll be at Firhill on 11th August.
  11. I suspect that club chairmen, including ours, reading fans forums will detect an air of inevitability that we now expect Servco will start life in division 1 or its equivalent. This actually almost makes the decision easier for them. Perhaps in the remaining days before the vote we should all reiterate in the strongest terms that our threats are no false utterings and those of us who have said they will turn their back on PTFC will indeed do just that if the vote does not support the majority of the fans wishes.
  12. So the sorry mess stumbles on. Now for the SFA proposals to deal with the rejected bad smell from the SPL. I am confident that if the new league structure put forward by the SFA, for consideration by the SFL clubs, will be rejected if the new structure places the Newco in the higher of the new divisions. Then I am sure, just to comply with procedure, applications will be invited for entry to the vacant position in the lower division. Or is it possible that the Newco will simply decide to apply to the SFA for entry to division three. Apparently that is what many Rangers’ fans would prefer. And there would be no requirement for league reconstruction. Or is that too straight forward.
  13. I find all this public show of mourning a wee bit tedious. Every other day some disaster or other is merited a public airing. Somehow it all seems a bit contrived. My parents and dear sister died a number of years ago and sometimes, not every anniversary, I take a wander up to the crematorium and spend a few minutes in silent reflection. Wouldn’t it be better if we allowed tragic events slip from national focus and for individuals to observe whatever tributes they think appropriate. But I suspect personal silent reflection does not suit some agendas.
  14. This issue has just hit the airwaves radio Scotland’s Off The Ball has made it thier headline item.
  15. I refill my own ink cartridges. It can be a bit messy at first but you soon get the knack. The printer software throws up some minor technical difficulties because you’ve refilled a cartridge. But they are easily(ish) resolved, well at least they are with Cannon printers, with lots of helpful info on the web. I posted on this forum about a year ago seeking some printer advice but got no response. Though I did manage to fix the problem. I have a Cannon printer from the Pixma range which has individual cartridges for each colour and have successfully refilled them 4 or 5 times at very little cost.
  16. A number of seasons ago I turned up at Inverness for a Tuesday night game only to find out the game had been switched to Wednesday night. I suppose that makes me a right numpty. Are there any other fans who should done some research.
  17. Why don't you try google map and if you can print it you'll have it with you every step of the way.
  18. Thanks for that Fawlty Towers. Will do
  19. I suppose if we had beat Hamilton last night it would be some sort of consolation that the forum would be discussing a win. As it happens at this time on a Saturday afternoon it is a totally miserable day. No Firhill and no nearby away game to go to. Any of you Jags fans who are in favour of Friday night football got any suggestions for this afternoon. Totally pissed-off.
  20. When I heard of Gary Speed’s tragic death and all the glowing tributes that followed about how such a wonderful person he was (no cynicism intended) I realised, apart from him being a successful footballer and was making his way as a manager, I was not aware of all the other aspects of his character that made him such an outstanding national football personality. I’ll hazard a guess that I was not the only one, and even go so far as to say the majority at Firhill on Saturday were also not aware of Gary Speed’s high standing in the football world until all the publicity surrounding his untimely death. So it was with some incredulity, and I have to admit with no genuine feelings of sadness I stood for the minute’s silence at Firhill on Saturday. Though I did wonder why the man would subject his wife and family to such a horrendous way to end his life. God only knows how Mrs Speed will cope with the memory of finding her husband hanged in the garage and the ordeal of an inquiry that will follow.
  21. Has anyone heard what the club or even the SFL think of the Friday night football experiment? I’d have thought some conclusion would have been reached by now. Or perhaps they'll just announce another Friday night game and we will assume, that’s it, it was a success.
  22. Sitting here thinking if today’s game was played last night, which I wouldn’t have gone to, I’d be totally pissed off, as would my grandson. A bad bad move. I hope the Friday night experiment with the Morton game totally flops.
  23. I don’t get it when some say, well if it’s just for one game that’s okay. It’s an experiment. If they get decent numbers for one game, that’s it you’ll get more Friday night games. You are either for it or against it. If you say give it a try for one game you could end up with a lot more. Me. no no no.
  24. While we are all gleeful that our league champions and runners- up are dumped out of Europe, yet again, it’s a terrible indictment on the whole of Scottish football. What’s to be done about it? Nothing I suspect. And the fatal downward spiral will continue.
  25. Oh well I suppose that’ll be an apology to the poor hapless steward then.
