  1. I have 3 x tickets for tomorrow up for grabs. I got them for my kids but my missus has just informed me that they're going to a birthday party. The tickets don't say "kids" tickets, but they are "concession" tickets. I paid £12 for one of them (under 16 price) and £5 each for the other 2 (under 13 price). I called the club and they said that they record what they sold them for and report that to Hearts, but it doesn't say on the ticket what type of concession they are. Happy to accept the value I paid for them. Let me know if anyone is interested?
  2. I have three kids tickets up for grabs as I got them for my son and his mates, but they are going to a birthday party which my wife forgot to tell me about. Not sure if they're any use to anyone? The don't say "kids" tickets on them, but they are concession tickets.
  3. The first two corners were good and Barton did very well to get to the one we scored. But, the rest were gash and I'd also like to see a change in the taker of set-pieces. Welsh's free kick was just embarrassing.
  4. The defence looked pretty comfortable in the first half outside of Aberdeen's goal. But, we looked much more open in the 2nd half when Barton moved to midfield and Aberdeen looked much more threatening because of that. I thought they pressed us very high up the pitch which resulted in us punting high balls to Azeez, but he lost so many headers tonight and the ball just wasn't sticking for him. As good as Dools is on the ball, he has a very frustrating habit of running to close someone down then slowing up when he gets near them - the end result is that he's wasted energy and not applied real pressure. He really needs to improve his game to understand when to close someone down aggressively. In the midfield, Welsh and Abs did alright, closed down well as did Edwards, but he doesn't jump to challenge for headers and his final ball can let him down, but didn't do too badly. 4-2-3-1 formation worked well against our 3-5-2 formation. Moving Barton forward was a risk that didn't work out - but their goal was really well taken by Stockley.
  5. What a finish to the game that was. Great celebration at the end. Was hysterical when the two Jags fans were celebrating with the players, one of the stewards tried to grab one, he dipped his shoulder and went the other way and the steward went on her ass ... Thought the first half was very even. We scored a little against the run of play and then lost a goal to a really good sucker punch from St Johnstone. Easton and Swanson gave us a lot of problems down their left in the first half. But, we nullified their threat in the second half and were the better team. We deserved the win. The defence all played well, although Devine needs to watch his hands on the opposing players all the time. Barton and Lindsay in particular passed well out of defence and they all defended well. Booth was solid without offering much going forward, Elliott weathered the first half pressure from Easton and Swanson well and had some good surging runs in the second half. Welsh played really well, as did Osman, closing down, linking play. Edwards also had a good game, although started to fade a bit in 2nd half then came back into it. Dools took his chance well and ran his socks off, Aziz ran his heart out too and was really causing them problems late in the game. Erskine did really well when he came on and Amoo set up the goal with some really tenacious play in the box. Going to beat his man, checking back when there was no way through, then going again and getting the killer pass across the 6 yard box for Osman to rifle into the roof of the net. St Johnstone are no mugs. Their goal came from a really good move. That was an excellent result today!!
  6. Thought we were pretty poor in the first half, without looking under any real threat, as we kept punting high balls. ICT closed us down well and our midfield was struggling to get any foothold in the game. That said, there were a couple of moments when our forward line linked well, particularly Dools and Erskine, then Erskine's brilliantly taken goal opened up the match. When the game opened up we started to find space for the midfield to receive the ball and play. Lawless, Osman and Welsh all came into the game and we looked threatening when we had the ball. What was most pleasing is that ICT are no mugs. They've had a steady team for a while and have more than held their own in the spl. So, it was great to see us get through a wobbly first half, score from a bit of brilliance and then outplay them in the second half. We look stronger and smarter than I think I've ever seen a Thistle team in my time.
  7. Just in from Kirkcaldy. Hard to give anyone pass marks after that except the trialist goalie who had 4 or 5 good saves, wee Penrice who showed some nice touches and Osman who tried hard in the first half. Apart from about 10 minutes in the first half where we held the ball but didn't really threaten, it was pretty much a midfield stramash with Raith looking the most likely. I thought Raith should have had two penalties in the first half with late, last-ditch tackles twice resulting in no ball contact and a Raith striker hitting the floor... Dools, Lawless and Erskine didn't click and the ball just didn't stick for them - particularly Erskine who gave the ball away a lot and about 3 times he passed towards his own goal and straight to a Rovers player, resulting with either a save from our goalie or a corner to Raith. We would have been punished against better opposition. Pogba, Azeez and McDaid didn't really make an impact when they came on. Osman was our best player in the first half. Welsh didn't do anything of note. The defence looked pretty shaky throughout and were pulled all over the place by Raith's attack. Our number 6 did shout a lot and try to get our defence moving up the field. Syme was OK but twice on his side they got shots on goal from a throw in (he should have learned from the first one). Devine seemed OK but nothing of note really. Raith looked quicker, sharper, more threatening.... Typical pre-season Thistle really!
  8. Put himself about well, although was lucky he never caught anybody with a mad lunge on half way line after he'd lost the ball. In general played OK and battled well.
  9. £2 a point from me. Great idea, thanks for your efforts in putting this together :-)
  10. Sad news indeed. A great servant to Partick Thistle, Scottish football and a very nice man too. Condolences to family and friends. RIP, Brown.
  11. Not sure how exactly how much the pitch played a part today (in terms of giving Hamilton an advantage), but particularly in the first half it seemed that we struggled with it. It looked like a lot of our players had trouble keeping their feet and judging the (fast) run of the ball. I don't think the rain just before and at the start helped. It seemed a bit better in the second half maybe because the pitch had dried out. That said, Hamilton were the better team before Frans was sent off. We couldn't handle their pace or passing and I though Crawford controlled the first half for them. They passed quicker, were quicker in the tackle, closed us down quickly and we just couldn't seem to keep the ball to build anything. Cerny, Hendry and Lyndsay were good. I also though Booth and Miller had reasonable games. Abdul came into a half-decent game (after struggling to get out of Crawford's pocket in the first half), Bannigan looked wasted on the left from a creative perspective, but put in a few good tackles, Welsh worked hard but struggled and also had a few wayward passes. Amoo was pretty anonymous, Stevenson didn't get long on the pitch but also was a bit wayward when on, Dools ran his socks off, but was on his own. I thought McDaid and Wilson did OK when they came on, but we were just holding on. It's too early to tell how we'll do, but we definitely need to learn a lesson today - move the ball quicker, create options for the man on the ball and close the opposition down quicker. The one thing that struck me about the change from last year is our lack of width provided by our full-backs. Hamilton had that and we didn't, we looked way too narrow.
  12. Boycotts and emails to sponsors is not a positive approach and will only damage the club you love. Someone needs to step up and represent the fans here before things get more ugly. Out of all the various organisations associated (Jags Trust, One Thistle, Supporters Clubs) , is there nobody that can do that in a positive way?
  13. Thought that it looked a foul at the time and, watching the replay, think it still looks a foul on Conrad for their goal. That said, the equaliser had been coming... There were a couple of moments near the end where Higgy was busy complaining about decisions - had his back to the play, not marking or tracking back. Disappointing to see when all we needed to do was see out the game. Not saying he was directly at fault for the goal, but he should have kept his focus.
  14. That was utter baws. Bullied and bossed by the worse team in the league. Need to rediscover some testicles before it's too late!
  15. Just watched the Alba showing of the game (couldn't make it today and didn't know the score). Thought that we closed them down well enough early in the game and looked good going forward. Also first 10 mins of second half we did the same. However, we have a few big problems that we need to fix. (1) Central defence. In my opinion, we don't have a single SPFL quality central defender. That's not to say that any of our current players don't have potential, but they're getting shown up by anyone with a bit of quality. (2) Set pieces, I can't remember the last time that we threatened goal from a set piece. (3) Players that flatter to deceive in the SPFL - Higgenbotham, Forbes, Aaron Taylor Sinclair - how many chances do these guys actually create?! Lawless, Craigan, Bannagan and S'OD were alright today. Doolan had a rare poor game, didn't look likely to get on the end of anything. Baird looks hopeless, think his confidence must have gone completely by now. Shame we took off Elliot for Forbes. I did have a horrible feeling at that point that we'd be on the wrong end of a hammering. Forbes never wins the ball and is slow. Great feet, but too slow for the SPFL. Shame, as he was outstanding in a couple of our biggest games last year. Elliot tracks back and is quick. Time for a re-think against the better SPFL teams. We should be playing fast players and looking to hit on the break. We're far to easy to break through otherwise.
  16. Due to change of plans, I need a ticket for JHS. Anyone got a spare?
  17. Beaten by a better organised and hungrier team on the park today. Beaten in the stands too by a vocal away support and a subdued Jags support (even before Aberdeen scored...). Back to earth with a bump. But, we're still good enough for this league and can give everyone a game on our day. Lessons to be learned all round.
  18. I'm in sunny Burntisland, just up the road. My son's and i regularly sport our Jags colours on our jaunts to Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy.
  19. I went to Jordanhill and, out of 50 boys in my year, there were 4 Jags fans, 1 celtic fan and the rest were either Sevco fans, gay, or both.
  20. Won't be going back to a Scotland game for a while after last night. Spent 45 minutes in poring rain queuing for pre-booked tickets. A porta-cabin with three windows for thousands of people collecting tickets was a joke. Hundreds missed the start of the game! Sat in the family section with my two sons who are regulars in the Firhill family section. People in our seats wouldn't move, everyone around screaming and swearing at us to sit down. Folk f'n and blinding the whole way through the game, arguments happening all over the place between fans when someone stood up, or people keep hitting people in front of them and more arguments. Percentage of morons at an all time high and that was in the family section!!!!! Won't be returning in a hurry!
  21. Brilliant result and well chuffed for Forbes getting the winner. Ross was MotM in a couple of our season-defining games last season. He's not had a start yet in the league this season. Gotta be frustrating sitting on the bench. So, well pleased for him and for the team as a whole - top stuff so far!!
