  1. Totally agree with Red Square!! August and September. Relaxed summer and early autumnal days. Good pitches. Ideal for playing and watching football. Your team trying to bed itself in and pick up consistent form. What do we get? Stop start, hardly two games in consecutive weeks. Week running up to Christmas. Busy and expensive family time and perhaps trying to finish at work for a holiday. Waterlogged and frozen pitches and supporters. Risk of injury. Difficult travel conditions. What do we get? Overload. Three games in a week. Scottish football does not compute.
  2. Did not like your list format, so put them all in the same sentence.
  3. Ian Mac suggested that Chris Erskine was a criminal for his miss against Rangers. Thought that was a bit harsh!
  4. ^^^ Inverurie Locos would be more local and more his level (crossing).
  5. Guiseley sound like Kingsley in Disguise, or Kingsley on Guy Fawkes Day.
  6. Darren Brady was instrumental in both Raith Rovers and Partick Thistle being relegated in the same season.
  7. Sounds more like Charles Coach than Charlie Commentator. Perhaps he could impart some more useful advice such as "Kick the ball between the goal posts, Ade!".
  8. Interesting to see that this thread is currently next to "Last Jag Standing" I prefer standing if the opportunity is there to do so (and I hope it is not part of a "Better Fan Syndrome"). I just feel more flexible and relaxed and generally involved in the game, and can perhaps see a bit better. But I will always aim for the back row if possible, so there is no one behind me to be inconvenienced and if that cannot be done I would never ever insist on standing if that would obstruct anyone else. Personal freedom should never extend itself into arrogant selfishness.
  9. I like the following line up, partly because I think it is the best combination of players for today and partly because, unless TJR or one of the other historians tells me otherwise, it must be the first time Thistle have taken to the field with a majority of players whose surname begins with a vowel. Scully Gordon Devine Lindsay Elliot Osman Barton Amoo Edwards Erskine Azeez
  10. Was sailing along at 5 from 7 but had to settle for 6 in the end.
  11. In that case we need to select Ryan Lochte as well as Ryan Edwards and Ryan Scully
  12. Great performance from Christie highlighted by an incredible double shuffle in the midfield which took out two of their players as Christie sailed by.
  13. I think that McInally is a right rather than a left back. In any case Booth had his best game of the season so far against Kilmarnock, so would be strange to drop him now.
  14. Karel Poborski would have scored! Apart from that supreme example, I am sure that I have seen more of that sort of chance missed than scored. Ade Azeez did well to get in front of the defender, but he was still under pressure from behind and did not have much time to choose his angle of elevation. He was within a whisker of getting this perfect. So often that type of shot ends up clearing the bar
  15. David Amoo has been the stand out player of the first half.
  16. Only half time but Ryan has made 2 excellent saves. The one from the overhead kick was world class. Took a very commanding catch under a lot of pressure as well and generally looked sharp and competent.
  17. For all that Ziggy did not have his best game yesterday, one thing you could not fault him for was stealing yards (or should we now say metres?) at defensive throw ins. The St Johnstone fans in the Main Stand were getting really wound up at the distance he managed to advance before releasing the ball at every throw in.
  18. Would agree with this. Dynamic fullback play was missing today. Either or both Lawless or Doolan should go to the bench. Amoo did not do too much wromg to lose his place and he would give us the width as well as having the habit of turning up in the right place to score.Edwards provides good energy as well. Azeez has improved his touch and link up play. Very surprised that he was subbed rather than Lawless or Doolan. I am sure that Archie's plans to introduce Barton into the action were scuppered by the enforced goalkeeping substitution.
  19. Rather harsh! Azeez and Erskine both playing really well and creating chances. Doolan and Lawless not quite got shooting boots on. Fullbacks both need to up their game. Still hopeful.
  20. The sending office was just the first part of the fun. I am struggling to remember the exact sequence of events and perhaps someone else can help me. As I recall it, having been sent off as a player, Rae tried to take his place in the technical area as manager, but was told by the referee to remove himself. He then continued to attempt to coach the team from a vantage point somewhere behind the dug out but the referee spotted him and as the referee came towards him, possibly intending to administer further punishment, Rae vaulted over a wall and disappeared from sight.
  21. I think that 140 is a very significant figure. It is the number of Dalmatians plus the number of steps.
  22. i agree wholeheartedly that Ziggy is an intelligent and articulate interviewee. He does come across as quite serious. How did he deal with the humour/banter of Off the Ball?
