  1. 3 points and results above us helped the cause slightly, I'll take it

    Wee Mo

I met him when he played with us and we talked for a bit, he was out with Kenny McDowel who also played with us and I knew him pretty well back then. Mo told me he would sign for either of the old firm in a heartbeat but laughed and said he didnt think Rangers would be too interested somehow! Things changed!
  4. I would be thrilled to see them relegated

    Chicago

I live just south of Chicago and should visit more. Be careful, tourist areas are as safe as anywhere but a lot of very dodgy parts of town, mostly on the South and West sides. Wrigley Field is worth a visit (Cubs baseball) with great bars all around including a Scottish bar I think called The Duke of Perth. The Rush/Division area on weekends is like Benidorm or something with lots of drunken women and bars open till about 4 or 5, worth seeing but with your girlfriend you may not quite enjoy it as much. Bears football tickets can be tough to buy but on the day you may get lucky and not ripped off too much if you buy outside from scalpers (touts). Taxis are everywhere but few drivers speak English and public transport is very good. If you get a chance I think the best music bar in America is The Hideout Bar, affiliated with Bloodshot Records and great live music. Its a bit off the beaten track though.
  6. For selfish reasons I am OK with it as I am home for that and want to give Thistle my money (though I know in the cup its shared).
  7. Could the same person maybe buy us a few players? And a new stand at the bing?
  8. Living in the u s and a I dont get to go anymore but it seemed that many Jags fans went everywhere just to win in some misery stakes, like if you didnt go you might miss some terrible happening and regret it. Similarly Thistle fans had the best tales of away games. You could memet a Jags fan in a pub and hear him talk about a 6 hour bus journey and getting there and catching food poisining on a dodgy pie before being batoned by cops as they lost to a last minute dodgy offside goal. On the bus home a brick comes through the window and splits his head open then he gets frostbite from the draught and loses a few fingers or a limb. The Jags fan next to him responds with "That's nothin, I remember the time...." Greatest team in the world and the greatest fans.
  9. Neil Lennon would keep us in the news and could be available. OK I am at the wind up.
  10. Journeyman English tennis player a few years ago called Richard Wire, both dick and wire having the same kind of meaning over the years.
  11. Years ago I met a Thomas Gunn, went by Tam, not Tommy.
  12. I would go with Rough although Alan Hansen could be argued. McQuade and Charnley for other reasons. I think Kenny Watson deserves some kind of mention too, great left foot if he had speed he would have been a star for Scotland for years (though probably would not have played for us).
  13. Just win, I am back home in Scotland Jan 7 and want to see the mighty Jags.
  14. If there are restrictions I'd guess it's probably more to do with us going up there than Motherwell, some of whose fans still point to trains when they see them going past. It had me smiling if not spitting out my beer.
  15. Or maybe it was Dannie???
  16. Danny Hatty (I think that was his name, no idea on the spelling) was the dj at Firhill early 70s and he played Whistling Jack Smith. I used to see him at oldies nights in dive bars around North Glasgow for years after, medallion man with very bad lines. Wonder what happened to him.
  17. I always liked the black ash pitches myself
  18. Local hero Zulu So I married an Axe murderer Planes trains and automobiles The Great Outdoors No surrender My blue heaven LA Story Breaking away The blues brothers Long good Friday Goodfellas
  19. T Rex should have made mine I think but too late.
  20. The Jam Crass Joy Division The Waterboys Jesus and Mary Chain Kinks The Clash Sensational Alex Harvey Band Madness Ian Dury and the Blockheads Chumbawumba Stone Roses
  21. My old man, who was a cream bun, would take me along to Firhill in the late 60s now and then when I was a nipper. First game I remember though was last game of the promotion season when I ran on the field with everyone at the end. No idea of opponents but I think we won 4-0.
  22. A lot of those kind of attempts on goal over the years
  23. He did so well taking it round the keeper as well
