  1. Just a wee message to let everyone that there will be a YES public meeting in Springburn Campus Kelvin College, G21 4TD on Thursday 24th of July (5 min walk from the train station). The speakers will include Jim Sillars, myself and another speaker which has yet to be finalised. So if you're undecided please come along and hear some of the arguments as to why we should be independent. Even if you plan on voting no, you are still more than welcome to come and challenge the arguments made and listen to some different view points. And if you are voting yes then these meetings are also a great way to hear some of the arguments which will enable you to speak more confidently to other undecideds. Doors open at 6:30pm and the meeting starts at 7:00pm. Should be a good night. Cheers. https://www.facebook.com/events/1452416101674663/
  2. I can understand why DU fans won't have been impressed with him. Even during his time at thistle he could go 89 minutes contributing hee haw, but in the 90th minute turn into messi and score an absolute screamer. (even his goal against st. mirren at tannadice was very well taken) Erskine is definitely a confidence player who only grows when the crowd is behind him. Like i said, he can stumble over his own feet and make slack passes but he can also pull some amount of magic out the bag that can completely change a game. That was recognized by the Thistle fans last season and he only grew with the support. I also think that at thistle he has the advantage of playing with lads that he's played with for years. Hopefully he slips right back into place in the team and can continue on the road to becoming a jags legend.
  3. I see where you're coming from, but surely, if anything, this actually shows thistle to have been extremely reasonable and negotiated in a respectable manner. So considering that we're not the only club arguing with DU about compensation, surely, this would go in our favour?
  4. Ha! That's a good yin. Good replacement.
  5. Sexist and homophobic? You seem a happy chappy. Just you sing away till your wee hearts content then.
  6. Well at least your sons comment had something to do with football. However, I think there's bit of difference between shouting "you kick like a girl" and chanting she's as "tight as the paper on the wall" and "i'd love to f*cking ride her"
  7. There were also black people in the 60's, does that warrant racist chants? Society changes, as does what is considered acceptable or offensive, we should keep up.
  8. Aye exactly, it's a "fitba match" ....point out what this song has to do with football? I don't accept that such degrading song is "part and parcel" of the game, maybe in the 70's aye, but not now? Not when there's young lassies and kids coming to watch their team.
  9. Well actually, sexism is against the law. However, that's not my point. My point is that, if anything, it's just common decency not to sing such derogatory chants at a football match, whether the police get involved or not, there is no place or argument for it.
  10. The point isn't whether the polis would step in or not, the point is that it's a completely sexist and offensive song (especially for a club with a family atmosphere) with nothing to do with the football? You agree that it is "sexist" and "puerile"....so why sing it?
  11. To be honest, if in this instance you're accusing me of being PC, then I would rather be that than practise being a sexist bigot stuck in a time warp of the 70's.
  12. It’s refreshing that there are some people here willing to raise the fact that sometimes we are out of order. Some people clearly see Mary from Maryhill as being light hearted Glasgow banter for the boys but in truth it is 100% offensive. Why is it deemed to be okay to sing about woman in this manner? I’m sure if we were singing about Blacks in a similar derogatory way, people would want to lynch those responsible. Please don’t come back at this with the usual ‘PC brigade are up in arms again’ garbage. This song should be thrown out along with the one that started this thread.
  13. He's been injured for ages but Archie said he needed him on the team, that's why he's been pretty poor for the last wee while.
  14. Where's manpreet when ye need him?!
  15. Looking at the pictures and videos on Facebook just now. It's disgraceful?! Apparently there was real trouble outside the star aswell?
  16. was brilliant when the S&G bus passed the morton bus on the way back, priceless! what a night but? 4 hours of standing on a chair singing yer heart out with fellow jags. Can't say I get to do that all too often. Thanks again.
  17. I'm not naming any player in particular. I'm just wanting to make the point that the amount that this squad has came through this season is unreal? Firstly, McNamoney leaving, and Archibald having to step up, having no previous experience and going from player along with these guys to boss, and not only continuing our good results but improving them?! Also losing scott Fox could have really have damaged us, but Smith (although not great in his first game) really stepped up to the mark, to the point where I didn't really notice foxy was gone, but also being able to achieve such an impressive streak of results considering the pressure and intensity of the build up of games in hand is incredible?! This team has came through so much this season, and to (nearly) have the title in our hands deserves all the credit possible. So, without mentioning any player in particular, I think this squad deserves all the praise possible. Fantastic season to be a jag!
  18. Whilst I appreciate it would do the team good to get support, I think they'll understand why fans don't want to pay a penny towards dundee united, especially if its going to contribute to paying for Casalinuovo never mind the 80K we're owed.
  19. That would be perfect! Would show the real team spirit you get with this team just now. Like when we scored first against morton at Cappielow and they all ran straight to archie to celebrate.
  20. Would love archie to lift it. He was captain and to take over mid season must have been a really big challenge, jumping from playing with these guys to being their boss. And to actually improve our results, especially considering the intesity of the past few weeks with the number of games weve been playing is incredible!
  21. It might be better if you didn't read between the lines and just read what I said? The flag was irrelevant as it would have been for a flag of any other club or nation. As for image, sorry but I do care how others view my club since rightly or wrongly people do make associations. There is nothing wrong with a tri colour flag nor a union jack but do you think the thistle fans would have been comfortable with them so evidently displayed just because a few OF fans decided to come along for the day? To be honest, this issue is finished for me, I was just making a point and now that the disappointment of yesterday has well and truly sunk in, I'm looking forward to us all pulling together to hammer that mob on Wednesday!
  22. I thought the flag was bang out! Very good if spurs fans have travelled up to see the game and support us, but supporting doesn't involve putting up a flag for a completely irrelevant team on top of an England flag when it's scottish clubs playing. If they wanted to support us they could have put up a thistle one. It nearly put me off enjoying the pre match atmosphere and it won't have looked good for us on the telly.
  23. I really hope he doesn't come. It'll just take away and distract us from the game. If he comes i imagine more time will be spent singing abuse and songs at him, rather than singing and gettin mehind the team.
