  1. Confession time. I did not read this article. I still haven't. Maybe if I had stumbled across it on the top shelf the headline may have induced me to read it. Maybe I was still smarting after Andy Murray's defeat (oops, sorry , not football). But, come on! Do we honestly want the world to think we are cretins? Doesn't Ghandi play for Dukla Pumpherston......
  2. Why hate Hansen because he earns more than us? Does he set wage levels? Sorry, do not send me home by limo? Market forces at work here. Even in the BBC. Does anyone think Andy Gray would have got his job at Sky if AH could have been lured from the BBC? Look at the competition from BTS recently. How much are they paying? Only criticism I have of AH was his "we" when discussing England at some world cup or other. I think he lost friends on both sides of the border there, but he is still one of the better pundits.
  3. From what I see above how can this be a "great article"? We hate the blue and green not the pope nor the queen. Headline inaccurate.
  4. I know Hansen earned a good deal as a footballer, but nothing like the money he would have if he was a generation later. I see no problem with him taking all he could get from the BBC. How much is Gary Neville getting at Sky? So long as they do a decent job and pay their taxes, why should we judge him? IMO he is one of the better analysts. I wonder what he would make of the present Jags team - you don't win anything with kids. I suspect he could tear our defence apart but I would rather not know.
  5. Agree. My seat at Firhill allows me stereophonic access to the best unrecognised coaches in the SPL (or whatever). Whilst we can all hear them, unfortunately the players can't. So it is their fate to yell ceaseless approbation to our 'under-achieving' side. Favourites are "disgraceful" and "shocking" along with "call yourself a Premiership player" and other helpful insights. By the way, I do not include our favourite referee baiter, although his sole ambition in life is to berate linesmen. At least he is amusing.
  6. Has anyone else noticed that really tall fast strikers mostly play in England or move to Spain for £100,000,000? Lets have faith in our guys to play like a team and find a way, like today,,,ya beautayyyyy. Just noticed that rhymes......
  7. It's odd that we are discussing young players not getting chances at Celtic or Liverpool when getting them on loan would set back the development of our own youngsters. We seem to have done quite well this last year or so with them. Also, am I alone in thinking that Dools does far far more than scoring goals? IMO he gets his head on more balls than his height would suggest and winning a throw or corner can be as good as an assist. He ties up far more defenders than Baird can.
  8. Henhouse manure. Inverglum PS My 3 yr old GD calls Thistle "Party, I like parties."
  9. Does it also say "Doohlan". BBC England misspelled 2 of the scorers in the Ross County, as they said, 1-4 defeat. Bizarrely, they only spelled Kallum Higginbotham correctly and he didn't score.... only he did. But that's another string.
  10. I've been bringing my two eldest grandchildren for a few years now just to watch them sit on their hands, despite the state of play. Gratifying that my 16 year old grandson actually stood and clapped last week. IMHO this is praise indeed for the present level of entertainment on offer. That's what we pay for, that's what we want. Just imagine having to moan about the cost of flights to Kazakhstan, or wanting a striker for £40 m.? By the way, why could Sportscene not show extended highlights of Friday's match. 3 minutes as usual.
  11. You will find the radio (in English) will be out of sync with the telly. So you may know what happens before you see it or vice-versa. Sometimes the Gaelic commentary makes more sense!!
  12. Me too. At my time of life I may have to lie down in a darkened room....or take up origami. M'on the Jags
  13. I'm going to defend Virgin Media. All sports channels available and by far the fastest broadband in UK. Pity the fool who lives outside the network. Or cannae afford it, sorry guys. BT Vision yahoo. We should get at least 10 live Jags games a season.
  14. Point I was making was that money has been spent. Hopefully the team were first priority. But I agree that if there is any doubt about the state of the main stand it needs attention. i do not subscribe to the opinion that away fans should take what they get. It's like our house - the bogs should at least have paper and soap for visitors.
  15. I am only making my second ever post here so bear with me. Re "what have the board ever done for us theme" which has taken over this topic, no one seems to remember the re-laid pitch which must have cost a bob or two? Good enough to play well on. The new dug-outs? Incidentally did anyone else spot the old ones dumped unceremoniously on the South Terracing. Are we saving them for a rainy day? Could we house under16 Jambos in them? Lastly, I now have my season ticket plastic thingy - hope the gate opens/turns.
  16. I was involved in one failure at Parkhead where we had booked online and self-printed "tickets" with bar codes. Only some didn't work! Son-in-law and grandson got through, leaving grandad and other grandson high and dry. Eventually we got in 10 minutes late but had to walk all the way round the stadium to the ticket office and back. Nightmare scenario - what if the wee boys had gone through first then neither adult could follow..... So you are right, a cheap system would cause a train crash. (Just so you don't think I am a closet OF, my son-in-law is English, a Fulham supporter, and wanted his son to experience a 70,000 crowd; without doing a whole season at Firhill. )
  17. Let's hope we all come to Firhill to vocally support the Jags, not to denegrate the other team's beliefs, although the much derided "banter" is part of the game. I used to bring a son to the game now a grandson and granddaughter, with more to follow. So should I teach them all the words to Mary fae Maryhill now or when they are of an age to appreciate the deep historical and cultural issues it raises? ....My daughters-in-law would kill me.
  18. Hello. I am new to this, or any, Forum so bear with me. The whole point of this song as said in the beginning, was to show our disdain for bigotry, particularly that of the OF. Why then do we need to be derogatory of Pope or Queen? Surely we only need to reverse the sentiment to annoy as much but avoid the vague arm of the law. "God bless" anyone? Having put that into words I am already thinking of throwing up....
