  1. Beat me to it. Away top, long sleeved. Must must have.
  2. Ack, ye can't have everything I suppose!
  3. Berwick just seemed a bit scrappy for us and pulled us down to their level. Let's see how we fare next week. Disappointing, but not the end of the world ...yet.
  4. 6 individuals and even then I'd dispute some of their credentials for brotherly love - Malcolm X is famed for the expression 'By any means necessary', which has gone on to become the slogan to justify violence against repression. JFK ordered the (arguably immoral) Bay Of Pigs invasion of Cuba - but the Bible is chock full of tribal violence like this, often ordered directly by God. Jesus Christ: “Do not think that I came to bring peace on Earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.” Even if the sword is just a metaphor, enough people throughout history have waged war on the back of religion, the Church included. And all are guilty of jumping to wild conclusions in terms of religious faith. Faith without proof is really just jumping to conclusions. Organised Religion is just a lot of people agreeing to all jump to the same conclusion, but the numbers involved don't make that conclusion any less wild than the delusions of one madman. Better just to accept that people are human with all the foibles and frailties that brings, rather than hold them up as Saints. That my friend, is perhaps why we are all Thistle fans - As long as I see the team busting a gut, I can live with us losing. But in answer to the your original point, yes it's pretty disgusting that Celtic advertise in a Church rag, but they are both businesses with bills to pay and are both looking to the same market for the money.
  5. Guilty as charged. But then again, how unusual is it to see someone of faith jump to wild conclusions which they stick to well ...religiously, and get very aggressive with everyone about it? Just saying...
  6. Was I belittling it? To be honest, I don't really believe that opinions of faith deserve any more respect than opinions which aren't faith based - less if I'm honest, but that wasn't my point. My point was that he was stating that he considered 16th Century Politics to be old fashioned but somehow couldn't apply the same rationale to the much older New Testament. I'm aware that 'the faith' itself will transcend beyond historical interpretations and it is simply the interpretation rather than the faith itself which is considered by believers to be old fashioned. In that respect, count me guilty of a bit of goading. However, RH did bring up his faith, I didn't. And when someone brings up faith then it's fair game to challenge their beliefs in the same way that I would challenge someone's political convictions. Did I deserve that tirade of abuse? Probably, but not for the reasons the OP thinks...
  7. Do Celtic fans also massively over react and jump down each other's throats because they failed to understand the conversation? I don't think anyone actually disagrees with the jist of what you're saying, but you also have to allow for people to discuss what you actually said. Nobody here is advocating the stuff you're accusing folk of, and some of it was quite offensive. You even called me a student at one point. You just need to take a wee chillax and read what people are saying.
  8. Sorry, but you brought it up in your original post...
  9. If you read what I had written, you would know that I was referring to The New Testament being considerably older than 16th Century politics, and simply questioning why you thought the ideas of that era a bit old hat but not the much much much older ideas of The New Testament which you say you subscribe to as a Christian. It just seems a little hypocritical to call yourself a Christian and then describe anything else as outdated. Even 16th Century politics, which you could say was relatively modern times by comparison. Sorry you missed my point. Jeezo. I see why you call yourself Hulk. Have you tried Kalms , they might help.
  10. Not one to quibble, but the 16th Century is positively modern by comparison to the ideas you otherwise claim to uphold which are older by a margin of 1500 years+, and incredibly, that's just the 'New' Testament at that. Isn't that just a little silly...
  11. Where is Ronnie anyway?
  12. Boy No.2. His brother will be 4 in Sept. He'll be home in about half an hour to start flinging his weight about!

  14. I was discussing this very subject with my old House chum Farquhar the other day, over a particularly fine vintage I must say. We concluded that there is no perceptible stereotype whatsoever and that we truly are all very much 'salt of the earth' types, as they say.

  16. No pies left when I got to the front of the queue. To be honest, that's probably for the best.
  17. Of course, you could keep it all...
  18. No answers I'm afraid, but the bit in bold hits the nail on the head. It worries me when appointments like this are made without any real notice, never mind fanfare. I'm not aware of shareholders being informed about these appointments. The cross pollination between the two companies seems almost beyond belief. And of course, there is the question on everyone's lips - are they 'Thistle minded'???
  19. Heard an investment guy on the radio saying that would earn 30K a day in interest.
  20. Have you seen the weather forecast?
  21. We're all hoping that there is a positive and inspiring initiative coming that will address the funding problems at the Club. But if I understand the OP correctly, he is simply concerned that things seem to be taking quite a bit of time. The new regime appears to be a bit behind schedule - remember how the new Board (and the question of a fan's rep) was to be all dealt with by December last year? I think one thing that's colouring the new regime here is, as the OP suggests, lengthy delays. If those delays are because they have been taking the time to really listen to the fans and get the detail and planning right then that will all be for the good. But if it's just more of the same, then that will be worrying. We wait with bated breath.
  22. You're doing nature and nurture there. Fruit and veg is actually pretty expensive. It's much easier and cheaper to do the old burger beans n' chips for the weans than it is to cook them a healthy 'alternative'. I work in a hospital and I despair at the food served up to patients. I despair at the food served up in the canteen. I despair that the obligatory healthy alternative they serve is as unappealing as it is - it's clearly a chore to the chefs to come up with these things and they obviously don't eat it themselves. Saying that, what the NHS has as a budget to feed a person per day - you wouldn't believe how small it is, and good food is expensive. However good diet habits needed be so out of reach, and you're right, it will take a generation to change them.
  23. So not Word like what Cameo meant?
