  1. I am not saying things are perfect, however my original post was in response to a post which said the club were shambolic off the park, which when you have supported Thistle as long as I have, couldn't be further from the truth. Also we do have the Weirs supporting us, we should embrace that situation, rather than articulating that we would be in shit if we didn't have them, that applys in every walk of life, I.e the Lab party would be in shit if the didn't have Corbyn, but they do..
  2. A bit shambolic off the pitch, can't believe anyone thinks that. If this is based on us only securing a 1 year sponsorship deal on what may be as good or if not better than the last deal, it's a pretty pathetic description of PTFC at the moment. We are probably in the best position we have ever been off the pitch, No or very little debt A youth academy growing in stature An investor (Weirs) who support the club under the radar A new state of the art Training Academy Aye symbolic right enough???
  3. He has not gone yet but Archie saying on Clyde that it looks imminent, and that he is glad LL waited for a Championship club said he was better than Oxford. AA also said that he would rather he left now in order to give us time to get a replacement in. As I said not away yet but AA all but confirmed he was away
  4. Alan Nixon on Twitter, a very reliable journo, saying that Thistle & Oxford have agreed a fee for Lindsay, apparently just up to Liam to decide now,.
  5. Selkirk must be Development squad, we play Livingston on 15th July in Betfred Cup
  6. If we keep Lindsay and managed to get Keown would it be worth only signing 1 other player on a higher wage, I.e 2/3 salaries combined if it was the quality of someone like Andreau? Do we have enough cover elsewhere to do this, just a thought
  7. It was another boot in the nuts yesterday, the only thing IMO which Archie did wrong was not bring the subs on earlier. Half an hour into the game I said to my mate that there was no way we could keep up that intensity for the full game, therefore a couple of changes after 60 or 70 minutes would have helped. We need to bring in another couple of quality players in the close season because Miller showed yesterday that having a player who is a cut above the rest can earn you valuable points, additionally we need a digger in midfield, someone like Draper at ICT or MCKinnon ( if he wasn't such a tube) from Accies, you get the drift though, someone to annoy and harass the opposition particularly in the closing stages of games.
  8. I think this is the first time I can remember approaching close season with the view that we don't need to sign many new players. I also think that for the first time we will be an attractive proposition for a lot more players than ever before. That being said we will still have one of the lowest wage budgets in the league, however I still think we are capable of signing a couple of decent additions to the squad. Looking at some of the available Scottish players , Josh Meekings at ICT is available, although that's dependent on what happens with Lindsay and Keown, if any of those are not here I think Meekings would be a decent replacement. Another player I have liked the look of is Jordan Jones at Killie, I am not sure what his situation is or if he is a loanee, but his wing play is excellent and something which we need. All in all looking forward to what transfer magic Archie does over the next few months.
  9. Excellent idea I am sure most decent folk will contribute
  10. With Top 6 sorted I am sure that Archie and Shaggy will already be planning on New recruits for next season. What are folks thoughts on, assuming we only lose Keown back to Reading and re-sign Welsh and Elliott, where do we need to strengthen? My thoughts would be 1 striker, 1 wide player and 1 CB (hopefully Keown)
  11. Good stuff Lindau enjoy watching Jeff Stelling informing you Dools has scored his 103rd goal for the Jags.. enjoy
  12. I think the OP should stay in the house because any Jags fan who can afford to buy a ticket for the Jags section, wouldn't have a dilemma and would be politely telling his Sevco ST friend to stick his offer where the Sun don't Shine because he is going with his Thistle mates to sit in the party end of the ground. FFS totally pointless thread, stay in the hoose Lindau
  13. Just woke up with a glorious hangover this morning, not even a banging sore head or dehydration can take the smile off my face. I've already started looking at what permutations we need to happen for us to finish 4th....
  14. Now that the excitement of Saturday and Dools wonderful display is ebbing a wee bit, I thought it was time to give e some overdue praise to the management team and the Board. There have been a couple of sticky spells during Archies tenure where the Board could have knee jerked and let him and Shaggy go, they didn't, they supported them and gave them the time they needed to become an excellent management team performing way above expectations. I say that as a fan who has watched the Jags home and away for over 50 years, and this team is one of the best we have had. Many other Chairman have sacked a manager and lived to regret it, i.e. St Mirren I have said many times that the biggest assets we have are Archie and Shaggy, they have recruited well on a tight budget and created a really great team spirit (you only needed to see the team's collective reaction at the end of the game on Sat for proof of that) and work ethic. They have delivered this in a measured under the radar manner, never courting controversy, never blaming referees or bad pitches, just getting on with it. We are lucky to have them and hopefully they are with us for years to come, however continued progress with us will only generate interest from bigger clubs, that is inevitable. I just hope that by the time they move on to bigger things Lord Doolan is ready to take over.
  15. Got to go for it tomorrow, Archie saying out with the long-term injuries he has a full squad to choose from mine would be; 3-5-2 Cerny Keown Devine Lindsay Dumbaya Edwards Osman Barton Booth Erskine Doolan Subs. Ridgers Elliott Lawless Amoo Azeez McArthy Nisbet
  16. If people actually calm down and understand that before yesterday it was important that we didn't lose and we didn't. We didn't capitulate after we went 1-0 up, we didn't sit back and try to soak up pressure, we were comfortable until Cerny's uncharacteristic error. If you look at the fixtures we are well placed to secure top 6, match Killies results and we will finish top 6. Dundee and County have too much to do, we are IMO 1 win away from top 6 and an absolutely outstanding season. Some people on here, many who clearly don't manage to away games seem happy to wallow in any setback we have, thankfully we have a management team and a group of players who have a much more positive mindset
  17. He talks shite most of the time and I for one am not going to change my opinion because he made a complimentary comment about us. He also said in the press today that ICT deserved a point yesterday.....I rest my case
  18. Killie 4 games after us are ICT a Rangers h Celtic a and Hearts h. Therefore I think it's important we don't lose next week and if we can match Killies results I think that would be enough for top 6. If your of the opinion that Dundee are still in the top 6 mix, their next 5 are, Celtic h Aberdeen h County a Hearts a and Hamilton h. So I think making sure we don't lose at Killie is vital. After that we have a 2 week break which I think will help our current injury problems. We are in the best position we have ever been in to get into top 6, it's in our own hands which is all we can ask for.
  19. I wasn't trying to make excuses just stating a fact. I agree they are professional athletes and should be able to deal with 2 games per week, however you can't discount the fact that in any sport particularly contact sports that a) an additional days recovery and being able to add fresh competitors must give you an advantage.
  20. I also think we need to take into account that Aberdeen had an additional day of recovery and in their game v Accies they were able to rest Stockley and Hayes with Stockley in particular being a real threat on Sunday. We went with same team as Wednesday and I think it showed as the game went on.
  21. I also think that we should be enquiring about keeping Keown permanently. He is a no nonsense CB who gives 100% and is reliable. He is young and clearly got a big future
  22. Lost just 6 goals in last 13 games, superb defence, but we are defending all over the park, even though we are not going into games to park the bus.
  23. If we win our 3 home games v ICT, County and Well, we will have 41points and IMO guaranteed top 6.
