  1. The Chesterfield FC fans aren't surprised at his latest antics - Spireites Forum A potpourri of some choice comments from the Chesterfield fans here - Boy were we warned. But by far my favourite puff piece to revisit following Coco's appointment is here - so many cringeworthy J-Low quotes to choose from. Coco the Clown is a freeloading charlatan and needs to go after we win / stay up this Saturday. Archie despite his faults had heart and loved our club. The sense of disconnect now between the club and the fans is palpable.
  2. The only reason Clownwell employed this "technique" is so that he has a ready made excuse if things don't go well on Saturday. He's passing the buck, it's that simple.
  3. Can we not just get the players to choose the team every week and cut out the middle man(agement)? We could spend the money on vegan sausage rolls and a new suit for Kingsley. Heck, why not just get Kingsley to manage the team? It might even sell more season tickets, who knows?
  4. Many years ago, for a school project, we wrote letters to a number of football clubs asking for their views on our project. From all the different clubs we wrote to, we only got one reply, a hand signed letter from Billy McNeil who was the Celtic manager at the time. A true legend who will be sadly missed.
  5. If anyone buys these, please please please can you sell me a home and / or away top with a Kingsley sponsor logo for a 5-7 year old? Would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
  6. If we lose today, I believe that the Get Rid of Caldwell floodgates will fully open. I was almost ready to give him a chance but the second half of the Ross County game changed that and last week was diabolical. Add in this weeks wee jolly to Tenerife, I wouldn't want to be in his shoes if we get substantially gubbed by that mob again. A convincing (any) win is the only acceptable result for me today.
  7. I met Ryan once and spoke with him for a bit. He couldn't have been nicer, was really friendly and happy to sign an autograph for my son. I thought he was good player for us too and was sad to see him go. Seem to remember him scoring for us during his last ever game in a Thistle jersey. I have no inside information but from reading interviews after he left Thistle I suspected he may have had some health issues. For all of these reasons I would cut him a lot of slack for any difficulties he had during his time with us and wish him happiness and health for the future.
  8. I remember it well AJ, we spoke just minutes before Livi scored in the play off final. Will try to pick a better game to say hello next time!
  9. Thank you for letting me take part Auld Jag and I will always be happy to support you in any future endeavours to remember Robert. Good luck to everyone still in the competition! Can see this running for some time.
  10. Hi AJ, thank you for setting this up and for inviting us all to take part. It's a nice way to remember Robert. Dundee United to beat Thistle 3-2 is my prediction. Good luck all!
  11. No more Monday La Liga games, says Spanish FA president Luis Rubiales Spanish fans telling their FA where to stick Monday night games and getting listened to. Imagine listening to what fans want, crazy!
  12. I understand and accept club most likely had no say in the decision. Just really disappointed that the Saturday match day cup experience (described perfectly by Partick the Dog) is being taken away from us. We've not had much to get excited about of late and a Saturday game would have been great for everyone, especially families with younger kids.
  13. Was really looking forward to a Saturday afternoon cup game. Monday night at five past 7? Rushing up after work with no proper chance to eat or drink anything to sit in a freezing cold stadium or sit at home relaxing watching it for free. Hmm, I wonder what people will choose. At least the club have got the TV money, obviously more important that us mere fans.
  14. A well reasoned and honest blog by Matt Greer - "Partick Thistle Identity Crisis" - https://purefitbaw.com/2019/01/19/partick-thistles-identity-crisis/
  15. Remember this video update from the chairman? - https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/update-from-the-chairman/ Watched it again this morning and nearly choked on my cornflakes. Sadly, our family's protest is not to spend another penny at the club until Clownwell has gone. It's sad to see long standing senior fans on here saying they won't be renewing their season tickets next season after many years of supporting the Jags. We struggled to find the £800 for our four season books this year, it won't be a struggle in May this year though. It's so frustrating I want to support the club financially but just can't with J-Lo and Cuddles the Clown tearing it apart.
  16. A now somewhat ironic official Thistle tweet, given the background picture...
  17. It will be interesting to see how many Jags fans will still be advocating giving Clownwell more time / the next 3 games / letting his new team gel / staying positive etc ... come 4.50pm next Saturday.
  18. According to GC, it was a relief when Wigan were relegated - "We tried everything to stay up, but the reality was that it was going to be extremely difficult. It was almost a relief when we did get relegated, because then we could really start to think about the next season. " (interview here ) GC commenting on his time at Chesterfield - " Very early on at Chesterfield, it felt like I was caught in a negative cycle that I couldn’t get out of ." --- Comments from the Chesterfield fans forum, summarised here, tell us everything we need to know. Some examples - " Feel sorry for the (Jags) fans, an awful, awful excuse of a manager. " "Partick thistle are third bottom. Lump on them being relegated." "One of the worst managers Town have had with some shocking player recruitment. Good luck to Partick Thistle, they'll need it." "Gary Caldwell terrible Manager. Actually should never work in a Football again." "As for Caldwell, what a chancer. Ten years ago I watched the Jags for the only time and the crowd turned on their manager in style with 'Campbell, Get Tae F**k' chanted over and over. It might not be long before Caldwell gets the same." "Spent some time with an ex Town player in the week who said how bad Caldwell was cold with players and disconnected with the people around the club completely. Was very very disliked at Wigan by his fellow team mates." "Maybe we can have a pre season double header against them next season, playing for the 'Victims of Caldwell' Trophy." "... he's now talking about the January window. Stand by for a bunch of kids and wasters on their way down." --- Chesterfield Director Ashley Carson - "Gary has worked very hard during his time at the club, but we find ourselves in a lowly position after providing him with substantial backing in the transfer market. After making a very poor start to the season, we feel that now is the time to appoint a new manager to bring about a change in fortunes." (from here) --- "Insisting the Firhill board were 'blown away' by Caldwell during the interview process, Thistle chair Jacqui Low is convinced the club have landed the man to take them back to the top flight. 'The appointment of Gary comes at the end of a rigorous selection process, which we believe has resulted in the best candidate for the job being named as our new manager,' Low said. 'Gary is a driven individual with a clear vision and plan to succeed - a new face our rivals may not expect and will not be prepared for. The board also wanted to bring in someone the players would respect for his achievements. With his track record both as a player and as a manager, we believe Gary is that man. 'We were blown away by Gary's interview preparation and, in the space of a week, he had done an analysis of each player, identified a training schedule to deal with the fitness levels and pulled together a vision of how to get Thistle playing well enough to secure promotion. 'Put simply, he plans to build a strong defence that allows us to then push forward and play attacking football. Gary's proposals were detailed and realistic. The high degree of clarity and organisation with which Gary shared his views was a significant factor in him being chosen as the preferred candidate.' (from here) --- We are sleepwalking into back to back relegations leaving this charlatan in charge. I will never forget the day of our last 2 in a row relegation it was horrific. The blame for our current horror show imo lies firmly with J-Lo - everything points to her falling for his smooth talking guffery and now she is backing her blue eyed boy (with the clubs cash) to the bitter end purely to save face and because she still believes. Well I don't Jacqui and neither does anyone else. Everything about Caldwell is wrong and the evidence against him is stacking up. How many warnings do we need? The latest rumour about Erkskine leaving (if it comes true) will be the final straw for me. Caldwell needs to go and if J-Lo doesn't have the insight to see this and get rid now, then she needs to go too.
