  1. Three home games out of five - can`t really complain about that!
  2. Dick Staite later became rector of Beeslack Community High School in Penicuik and was knighted in the 2005 New Year honours list for his services to education!
  3. Fantastic forum - please, please don`t close it!
  4. Apart from Coulston that was the team that won the League Cup and Gibson was the sub for Glavin at Hampden so eleven out of the twelve legends were playing. Just shows the immense contribution Frank made to the team.
  5. Donnie McKinnon without a doubt. Could have gone with his twin brother Ronnie to a certain other club as a youngster but had already agreed to join the Jags and wouldn`t go back on his word. Served the club faithfully for many years as player and as physio. His testimonial game against Man Utd on 5th November 1973 was no less than he deserved. On a personal note as I`ve mentioned before his mother came from my village in Lewis and my boyhood hero always took time to write me letters and send souvenirs some of which I still have nearly 50 years on. A living legend!
  6. If you`re right that would be Ray Stewart who also played for St Johnstone and Stirling Albion and then was manager for short spells at Livingston,Stirling Albion and Forfar.
  7. Co-latha-breith sona dhut a Sheonaidh! Happy birthday to you Johnny!
  8. The great Lambini, arguably our best ever manager, left us twice and came back twice to great success! :clapping:
  9. Classic Donnie story from the Isle of Lewis. Donnie`s mother was from Carloway and both he and Ronnie donned their shirt a few times back in the day. Shawbost is the next village and the games in those days were vintage derbies! This is from a former Carloway FC player posted today on their Facebook page in tribute to the birthday brothers. "My favourite Donnie McKinnon story was when he refereed a Carloway v Shawbost game. I guess it would have been around 1962. We ( Carloway) were attacking and one of our guys was pulled down by the Shawbost centre half. Donnie McKinnon was so engrossed in the game he immediately shouted "penalty ref" and then realised he himself was the referee. Those of us who were near the incident burst out laughing including some of the Shawbost players. Can't remember if we scored from the penalty or not but certainly recall the incident clearly. He was a class guy as was brother Ronnie."
  10. As I posted elsewhere, a very happy 75th birthday to the MacKinnon twins!
  11. Wishing my boyhood hero Donnie MacKinnon (and his twin brother Ronnie) a very happy 75th birthday today.
  12. I think I should know but haven`t a clue so who is he?
  13. I saw a fair bit of Vigurs when he was with County. Blows hot and cold -sometimes brilliant, other times terrible - shades of a few others we`ve had in days gone by!
  14. As you can see he`s already been mentioned at least twice!
  15. Twin brothers Donnie and Ronnie McKinnon in action. Their mum came from my home village of Carloway in Lewis
  16. Just arrived home in Dornoch after a great day! :clapping:
  17. Bha mi smaoineachadh gum b`e sibhse athair ceart gu leòr. Tha mi toilichte chluinntinn gu bheil e dèanamh cho math san oilthaigh. Saoilidh mi gur dòcha gun robh mi fhèin `s sibh fhèin ann an deasbad beag air an rèidio bho chionn bliadhna neo dha mu bhith teagasg creidimh `s na sgoiltean ach ma se sibhse a bh`ann `s math gu bheil sinn air an aona ràmh a thaobh nan Cluarain co-dhiù! Thòisich mise gan leantainn o chionn leth cheud bliadhna a chionns gur ann as an aona bhaile rium fhèin ann an Leòdhas a bha màthair Dhonaidh MhicFhionghainn. Bha h`uile duin` eile a dh`aithnichinn a`toirt taic dha chàraid Raghnall a bha na shàr-chluicheadair aig buidheann eile à Glaschu nach eil idir ann an diugh!
  18. Bhitheadh e glè mhath `ur mic a choinneachadh .Chan e sibhse athair Ruairidh Alasdair an e? Ma se, bha mi nam bhreithimh aig co-fharpais Mòid ann am Peairt ann an 2004 san robh esan a gabhail compàirt `s bha e cho math s `s gu bheil cumhn` agam air fhathast! Bi mi ga chluinntinn gu math tric air Spòrs na Seachdain -ach dh`fhaodainn a bhith ceàrr `s dòcha nach e ur mac a th`ann idir!
  19. Bhitheadh sin glè mhath ach tha mise nise fuireachd ann an Dòrnach `s mar sin cha bhi mi faighinn gu geamaichean nan Cluarain nas fhaid` air falbh na Inbhir Pheofarain `s Inbhirnis.
  20. Is Donnie McKinnon in the Hall of Fame yet? If not he most certainly should be!
  21. That is 100% defo NOT Dave McKinnon - it`s Donnie McKinnon!!!
