  1. At least if Dunfermline were to bring more than 500, it would create a bit of good will among the players, we would then be trying to sign lol.
  2. From what I can see from scotrail's website, there are two trains with connections back to Glasgow. The 21.43 will be a rush to get to and the 22.03 gets me into Glasgow too late for my connecting bus and train. Maybe I'm mistaken but that's the way it looks liike to me. Thanks, Kenny. I will be in touch.
  3. Is the EEOS still going and does it still do a bus to the games? Reason I am asking is, I will be in Edinburgh before the Raith Rovers game on the 12th March and public transport is not an option from what I can see.
  4. Rubbish. My in-laws live in Islay. Attending a game for them would include a very costly 10-hour round-trip. Yet they follow Thistle just as passionately as when they lived in Glasgow and they loved the Nomads Show for the time it was there and were really sad to see it go.
  5. My mate supports QotS and he came along yesterday as their game got called off. Last time, he came to Firhill was when we played them and we sat in the JHS. He said that he was impressed how the atmosphere had changed between now and then with the North Stand making the difference. Thank you and well done to everybody associated with One Thistle. Keep it up guys!
  6. Along with starting a chant of "We will follow Thistle over land and sea"...
  7. Just phoned Ian and it turns out he didn't receive the email as according to him, "the club can't afford dots in the email addresses" lol. Robert Reid will phone me back on Thursday for it to be set up.
  8. They've not just had a hour. Emailed them ages ago so I think it is poor not to get a reply so close to Christmas, I have been considering getting him something else, but decided to give it another shot.
  9. I agree with The Mighty Quinn. The way the glorious game is constructed, major game changing decisions are in the hands of three men supervising 22 and you would be off your nut, if you didn't take advantage of that. The competition is fierce and if you get the upper hand by tricking the ref then well done. I don't want to go all high and mighty morally. I cheer any Thistle goal regardless of how it came about.
  10. Thanks for your help. I've send an email to Ian Maxwell now and if that doesn't get a reply, I'll give them a call. It would be great if this option was a bit more advertised as I'm sure there's a good number of Nomads, who would sign up to such a service.
  11. I'm looking to give my father-in-law a subscription for the programme as a Christmas present. He moved to Islay a few years ago and he doesn't get to Firhill very often. I thought a programme would improve his matchday experience a bit, but after emailing the club, I am yet to have a reply. I have been told Robert Reid is in charge of programme subscriptions, but after looking on the official site, I can't seem to find an email address for him.
  12. Hmm the suggestion that 54 clubs could and should be playing in nationwide leagues is a bit far fetched. I think we should have regionalisation enter below two top divisions of 16/18 teams. A North and a South league consisting of 12 teams each playing home and away. Top 6 of North and South will then join for a further 11 games and likewise with the buttom six. So basically, 2 1/2 nationwide leagues and full regionalisation below that based on the junior structure of North, East and West along with the ******* 'senior' league that is South of Scotland League.
  13. I have been looking into a system, where level 1-3 includes senior and some top non-senior clubs, level 4-6 includes rest of non-senior clubs plus junior clubs and best of amateur clubs and level 7 and below is strictly amateur clubs. It will of course include the SFA taking responsibility for Scottish football as a whole, therefore totally pie in the sky stuff, but hey ho, can always dream eh. Level 1: Division A - 18 teams, 36 games, two up/down, 3rd bottom play-off with Div B no. 3 (Current SPL teams plus top Division 1 teams) Level 2: Division B - 18 teams, 36 games, two up/down, No. 3 play-off with Div A 3rd bottom (Current bottom Division 1 teams, Division 2 teams and top Division 3 teams) Level 3: Division C North - 12 teams, 22 games (Rest of division 3 teams plus top Highland League teams) Division C South - 12 teams, 22 games (Rest of division 3 teams plus top East of Scotland League teams) Top 6 in Division C North & South join, 12 teams, 11 games, two up Bottom 6 in Division C North & South join, 12 teams, 11 games, four down Level 4: Division D North, 16 teams, 30 games, 0-4 up, 0-4 down (Non-league senior teams plus top junior teams) Division D South, 16 teams, 30 games, 0-4 up, 0-4 down (Non-league senior teams plus top junior teams) Level 5: Division D1 North-West, 16 teams, 30 games (Junior teams) Division D1 North-East, 16 teams, 30 games (Junior teams) Division D1 South-West, 16 teams, 30 games (Junior teams) Division D1 South-East, 16 teams, 30 games (Junior teams) Level 6: Further regionalisation including junior teams and possibility for amateur teams to enter. Level 7: Strictly amateur
  14. I was in the Main Stand supporting a boy with a disability and he absolutely loved the game and I didn't notice any problems. Instead I was encouraged by the way catering came over to offer pies and bovrils for half-time, which they duly provided. Well done and very disability friendly service.
  15. Our back-to-back promotions got me hooked while still in Denmark and I was a regular in the F5 brigade on the old ptfc.net (What ever happened to Lianne, who ran that? ). I remember arriving in Glasgow late august 2006 and one of the first things I did was to visit Firhill and my first impression was of how run down it looked and the big amount of litter in the streets. I also remember going to some Jags Trust event that produced some dodgy karaoke, but I remember it being a good night nonetheless. My first game at Firhill was a less than memorable 5-1 defeat to St. Johnstone and I really questioned what I had let myself in for and the following big defeat to Gretna didn't help either! But fortunes turned and the abomination that was Dick Campbell got sacked and here we are top of the league six years later with me still in Glasgow. Proud to be a jags fan!
  16. Don't know if he visits the forum anymore, but I sometimes see the occasional Thistle related status updates from him so still has heart in the right place.
  17. Did anybody else notice the alba reporter interviewing billy brown calling balatoni balotelli?
  18. I think that is the wrong way round. Bear in mind, lower division clubs tend to have poorer facilities and games are more likely to be called off during the winter season creating a massive backlog of games.
  19. I went along to Dumfries with my mate, who supports Queen of the South and because of all the times, I've had him sit in the Jackie Husband Stand, he wanted us to sit with the Queens support. Really had to bite my tongue at times not to join in the chants of "We want six!".
  20. Probably the most sane thing, you have posted on here, sigesige. I agree we should have two top leagues of 16 clubs playing home and away (30 games), then a split to end up with 37 games. Two up/down and play-off between third bottom in Div A and third top in Div B. Two relegation spots in Div B. I don't see the point in having another fully nationwide division below that. A North and a South league of 12 clubs each, 22 games and then join the top halves together for 11 games with two promoted. Do the same for the bottom halves and four clubs finishing bottom enter play-off against the top two in Div D North (16 clubs) and Div D South (16 clubs) with games arranged to be geographically close. Below that regional leagues (North-West, North-East, South-West and South-East).
  21. After the amazing atmosphere created from the North Stand at Falkirk game, I decided to make the move from the JHS for yesterday's game and went along with a work mate, who used to go regularly, but lost interest during the Dick Campbell era. I don't blame him! I'm glad to report the interest is back and he couldn't believe the change in atmosphere at Firhill. There were very few negatives and they mirror previous comments about the catering. There was no brown sauce and the staff seemed not to care less, when asked. They also ran out of hot water during half time... Plenty of positives to outweigh it though.
  22. The main reason stopping people from taking up cycling is because there are no cycling facilities in place and the roads are simply too dangerous. One of the many answers would be to have designated cycling lanes and traffic legislation aimed for the benefit of the most vulnerable.
  23. If the politicians got their act together and tried to create bike-friendly streets like the ones in Denmark and Holland, there would be less of an issue and a lot more people would start to see cycling as a realistic way for commuting to and from work. That said, some cyclists really don't do themselves any favours by skipping red lights and cycling on the pavement.
