  1. I think you need to remember that at the start of the 2012/2013 season he was still just 19. Hardly unexpected that a player still in his teens hadn't had too much of an extended run in the team prior to that especially since he had an extended period on loan at Ayr United. Both McCall and McNamara rated him very highly. Never any chance of him being freed.
  2. I think it's 15 penalties Hearts have had this season is it not?
  3. Not heard a MoM announcement met with such a resounding cheer as last night's. Christie IMO is the most under rated, by us fans at least, player in the squad. He offers a lot in a variety of roles. Is he contracted for next season? Very much hope so.
  4. If I'm being honest them claiming to be the same club (I'd probably do the same if it happened to us) doesn't annoy me anywhere near as much as the claim they were demoted to League Twi does. No you weren't. You applied to join the SFL, as it was then, and were granted admission at that level.
  5. Did Airdrie fans make the same kind of fuss or did they just accept that Airdrie United was a different club than Airdrieonians? To be fair there was a much clearer difference between the two in that instance. I always made the distinction between the old Airdrieonians and Airdrie United in the programme and did so without so much as a second thought. I'm glad I was never in the position of having to do the same with the old and new rangers. Like the Livi progamme editor I would probably have been sacked and force into hiding especially when my address in the east end of Glasgow was discovered :-)
  6. I'm thinking more likely a reserve game than a friendly fixture. Certainly looks like Andy Gibson but I'm wondering if it might not be a young Derek Lyle . Next to him looks vaguely like Tommy Callaghan and the player making the tackle Gavin Duncan? That's just picking names that tie in the strip (97/98?) which I think would rule out Andy Gibson.
  7. In the current football media in Scotland there are a hell of a lot more McConalogues than Doolans though the latter does exist in small numbers. A seat in press boxes of grounds in Scotland can be a real eye opener. A couple of examples from recent years include one hack spending 90 minutes with his back to the game asking what was going on and another hack not being able to tell the difference between Conrad Balatoni and Isaac Osbourne.
  8. He started against Airdrie and was one of the few that offered any kind of threat on the first half. Was hooked after about an hour and replaced by one of Mixu's new signings. United certainly were much more dangerous, in a kind of in ineffectual way, the longer the game went on but doubt that was really down to any personnel changes and more Airdrie not being able to play the whole game at a decent tempo. Wow. Long answer.
  9. Great idea. With a team from the Highland League already admitted to the tournament it brings closer my dream of a Barry v Keith match. :-)
  10. Continuing with the John Lennon theme how about? Number 9 Number 9 Number 9 That's just for students of side 4 of The Beatles (aka as The White Album).
  11. I really can't see Aberdeen offering the kind of fee in January that would make it worth our while selling him when they can get him for free at the season's end unless others are also bidding and they are really keen on him. What did we knock back for O'Donnell last January? £90K? Personally I would be looking for around double that before I would consider punting him this month and only then if the deal is done now. The less time we have to find a replacement then the higher the fee required.
  12. Would doubt very much that the SPFL would have insisted on a 3pm kick-off for Hamilton v Inverness rather the two teams would have agreed to switch and had their request to do so approved. Odd call for Hamilton. Any Inverness fan travelling to that game is pretty much having to take time off to go whether it is a 3pm or 7:45pm kick-off. At least this way they get up the road at a reasonable time. They don't get a split of the gate so matters little to Inverness how small the crowd is. The home support, I would imagine, will be reduced though. A sub 1,000 crowd very likely.
  13. More than happy to make a donation towards a Jags fans' purchase of the medal. Please keep me posted.
  14. It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Brown last night. Brown was Chair/Vice Chair/Board Member for much of my time with the Club. He, among others, played a huge role in 1997 through 'Save the Jags', in ensuring that there is a Partick Thistle Football Club here today. This, therefore, is a sad day for the Club but much more importantly a horribly sad day for the McMaster family, many of whom also served the club in various capacities. Much love to them all.
  15. I'll settle for a Thistle manager being as 'unlucky' as Alan Archibald. Unlucky to take us to promotion. Unlucky to keep us in the top flight, on a limited budget, twice. Every job he has asked to do as Thistle manager he has done. Unlucky.
  16. Not poor. Trolling. It's what he does.
  17. I'm not one to defend LSR but you are asking where someone is. You disappeared from the forum for months towards the end of last season. Good to know you are well.
  18. Who is it that is compartmentalising matches on that basis? I'm aware of it happening on here and other social media sites but in the dressing room? That we were rotten against Celtic and even more so against Hearts doesn't mean that the points were chucked away in advance. I don't have an issue in adopting a system and game plan for specific matches that maximises the chances of taking something from a specific game. We will have a different approach to playing Hearts away than Kilmarnock at home. The problem comes when the players don't perform to their potential within the system adopted. We could play well and still lose to Hearts but when you play badly, as we did yesterday, you get the kind of insipid performance that we got at Tynecastle.
  19. Can't help with the programmes but The Glasgow Herald reported a 4-1 loss for Thistle. https://news.google....tpage&hl=en Two penalties from Harper and goals from Borthwick and Caven. Andy Roxburgh for Thistle. You probably knew all that already. Edited to add: Beaten to it by TJR
  20. We play with a lone striker. That isn't going to be the same player week in week out. At times in previous seasons Doolan has almost had to carry the burden of a lone striker on his own. Hence the deployment of Stevenson in that role on occasion. Hopefully a fit Pogba will share the burden for the whole season. Doolan had nothing to prove least of all to the manager who knows what an asset we have in him.
  21. Poor first half, excellent second. Thought we played some excellent stuff second half. Major pluses: Cerny is a big improvement on Fox. Lindsay looks a star in the making. Just needs to work on his distribution. He has the rest. Welsh is like a new signing and a good one. Bit more composure we could have won the game but Inverness will point to the two Cerny saves and that chance injury time.
  22. Ross, have a Like for the Stereophonics comment. :-)
  23. Hi Colin, Thanks for providing an answer to A question but not THE question I asked. Why would it be 'bizarre' that a Thistle fan wouldn't know how much it costs the Club to have the NS open? Happy trolling. Tom
  24. That still doesn't remotely come close to explaining why it is 'bizarre' that a Thistle fan wouldn't know how much it costs the club to,open the NS. I find it more bizarre that you would think that this is the place to find an answer to that question.
  25. Bizarre why? I've just been to Ladbrookes but I don't know how much it costs them to have the shop open every day. I then went into Farmfoods and I don't know how much it costs to keep that store open either. Not much I suspect as it is a shitehole.
