Scottish Football is just pish. I'd happily see it banished in favour of a UK wide setup with regionalisation.

Oh of course, the 40k which we owed Forfar (and eventually paid back) is comparable to the seven figure sums of money these clubs were spunking on players and had/have no intentions of ever paying back the mountains of debt run up as a result!

We ran up debt making the stadium an all seater white elephant to comply with the then rules, I don't remember us ever throwing silly money around like Dunfermline paying Stevie Crawford 5k a week, Dundee bringing in boatloads of foreigners on daft wages or throwing money at players like the Livingston franchise.

Any club who has a long history of financial mismanagement and attaining success off the back of it is fair game for going out of business, IMO. And **** the fans, you never hear a peep when money that clubs don't have is being thrown at players to achieve success. Don't think I'll suddenly start feeling sorry for them tbh now they're skint. We've grubbed it in the lower leagues for years watching endless amounts of shite because we never went down the road of clubs like Dunfermline and its been pretty shite. High time these clubs suffer.

I've never understood why we can't drink bottles in grounds here. I was at the Reebok in Bolton earlier in the year and they have vending machines and all sorts of different options on the concourses. Are we that stuck in the past that anyone with a bottle of fanta is going to fire it on the pitch or at opposing fans? Nonsense law.

I don't think the stats are readily available, but in my experience, judging by most of the Thistle fans I know, I could count the number on one hand who are from within one of the areas surrounding Firhill or within short walking distance.

I think its time to return to the team that done the business the first few games, unless of course Bannigan is out. I've not been impressed with Forbes at all barring a couple of set pieces against Morton. I seen a post on here saying he was excellent last week, but really its easy to say everybody was excellent when we hammered a duff team who were out of their depth against us. Shuggy has had a few weeks out to recharge the batteries and should replace him IMO. Don't think Craig should retain his place either. He has some good games and some really quiet ones. The high balls didn't help at all, but Dods owned him all day and he couldn't shake him off or create things himself when he had the ball. Doolan is far more consistent and just a better player in general with a fantastic first touch and he brings others into play. Welsh and Lawless had poor games, but they've had runs of good form prior so I'm willing to count it as an off day. Not impressed by Elliot either when he came on, I've still got my doubts about him. Paton had one bad moment when he lost his runner in the second half and missed a tackle completely, but otherwise was excellent. The back four were solid too. I noticed players slipping all over the shop and Balatoni's lone "error" came when he slipped and missed the ball completely but we recovered to deal with the danger in the end.

Hopefully they go tits up. One of a few clubs who were successful at our expense for many years off the back of money they never had. No sympathy at all, intact i'll enjoy any demise.

This game is going to be a pure cringefest. Daft wee boys singing "we hate airdrie" and "section b **** **** ****".

I think hes been a good signing and he was terrific first half v Morton last week, felt he was very quiet yesterday aside from the goal though.

Went a few times with my mate to watch the Eagles at the Centrum in Prestwick and once at Braehead and I could never take to it. Felt it was far too much of a plastic manufactured atmosphere.

What sort of numbers for the final are we expecting? Loads of exiles and fans who rarely get the chance to go attending? I'd surprised if we had more than 5k, I hope I'm proven mightily wrong. We've always been told there is a strong dormant support, we'll see I suppose.

Very good turnout given the game was on tv and sandwiched between two Scotland away games.
