  1. As said elsewhere Will, all fine and good getting compensation. The issue is whether or not it will be used to hire another manager.
  2. Given the compensation question seems to have induced screaming abdabs elsewhere on the forum, I'm intrigue to know how you know what the club's arrangements with Jackie were, Jaggernaut.
  3. I was thinking more of someone from outside the rather less than inspiring list we've seen so far. I'd had to see Alan thrown into the meat grinder.
  4. Love it or leave it - oh dear.
  5. None of those choices inspire me, frankly. I have to say though, the thought of Billy Dodds as Thistle manager today is the one moment where my dislike of a person outweighs my affection for the club.
  6. Ooookay, we'll say he went for £25,000. My thought would not be about the size of the compensation fee but whether or not any of it would be used to hire another manager or pay off the many and varied bills that have been around since time immemorial.
  7. They say. Word I'm hearing is that United wouldn't spill for the £100,000 Falkirk wanted to let Pressley go. Follow the bouncing ball.
  8. Great moment for the lads, sadly overshadowed by another matter.
  9. We seem to land a decent manager once every 10 years - god help us if the latest one has just left.
  10. Shame he can't serve up a decent pie. Joking apart, I hope he's working his backside off finding a replacement that can lead the team to a cup win and promotion.
  11. If true, so long and thanks for all the fish, Jackie. Probably not the easiest decision to make but, from a Jags fan's perspective, I can't wish a Dundee United manager well. Hey ho.
  12. That'll be the moaning section - you should have heard them when Mark Twaddle played for Thistle. If the club wants to encourage all the boisterous folk to go to the North Stand, the moaning section could surely be accommodated on the Bing. The one you see from the M8 as you head to Ingliston. In the meantime, anyone on the forum want to take up the cudgel for those of us who just want to sit in the JH with the kids, a few friends, a decent cup of coffee and a pie? That seems to be your 80 in the 80/20 ratio. Erm ... cup final tickets? When.
  13. Fact of the matter is that when replacing managers you can never tell what you're going to get. 'Experience' hasn't really served Thistle well since John left. Last season under Jackie was pretty dire for the most part - this season has been superb. New (young) manager or old head? That's assuming he's moving, of course.
  14. Another train wreck in prospect. Another season of one up, one down then they get to tinker and introduce a ridiculous format - all for a TV contract. Sad. Anyhoo, apropos nothing ... http://www.parliament.uk/edm/2012-13/913
  15. The thought of this fills me with complete indifference. The only upside I can see is a single governing body for the leagues that might be dragged, screaming and kicking, into greater change.
  16. Rumour mill says Steve Kean is manager from England being interviewed for Dundee United job.
  17. Ah dear, the spirit of British comedy is undiminished.
  18. That's what the papers and web have been saying. Curious choice of the two, wouldn't you say? What's the betting they'll hire someone and then kick them to the kerb at the summer?
  19. Sad times. We are seeing fewer and fewer of our club's more senior fans. That, like it or not, is life. It'd be nice if folk who know them could sit such fans down in front of a cheap and cheerful video camera and get them talking about the Jags games and the characters they've seen. There's an oral history that needs to be documented before it, too, passes from this life.
  20. Not that that'd both me one way or the other, but I'd like to suggest a campaign to 'out' one Joseph Dredd Esq, a judge of Mega City 1, as a Partick Thistle fan. Please spread the message through all social media: 'JUDGE DREDD - PARTICK THISTLE FAN'. I thank you. http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/shortcuts/2013/jan/27/judge-dredd-gay-comic-book
  21. Umm ... given the shocking state of affairs at Valencia it might be Jags hand-me-downs. Another fur coat and nae knickers football club. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jan/21/valencia-cf-debt-city-takeover
