  1. I would hope that we would get told if Archibald is staying or going within the next day or 2.Even if he is staying I would expect an announcement. Also on another point, some fans on this forum continued to defend Archibald all season and said he would keep us up. Since Sunday I don't recall seeing any of them giving their view if they think he should still be in charge next season. I would be interested to know what they think now.
  2. I know we have to watch the money ,but the difference in prize money in the leagues just shows how costly relegation is going to be.And that is not taking into account the loss in other revenue streams.
  3. In the good old days when people wanted to heat their house up they burned an item called coal for heat.To get rid of the smoke that was caused by burning the coal houses had things called chimneys or as some called them lums. Any way when Thistle were behind at Firhill the houses close by lums would emit smoke and make it extremely foggy and the game would need to be cancelled.Just like the fog machine we used at Cowdenbeath in 2013.
  4. We will get smoke from the Firhill lum when a decision is made.
  5. Archibald has said the players who still have contracts have a relegation clause to protect the club.I would imagine that would mean less wages or free to go.
  6. I will also be renewing my season ticket.Although I had been to games before season 1968/69 was my first full season supporting Thistle so 50 years next season.Relegation although disappointing will not stop me and I hope the majority of us going back to Firhill.
  7. Some excellent posts on here both for Archie staying or going.I just hope the board don't take to long in making their decision,Morton are also looking for a manager and Ross at St.Mirren doesn't seem to know if he will be in Paisley or England next season. If we are looking to replace Archibald we don't want to be beaten to our managerial target by some other team and if we are sticking with the current managerial team we should be giving them as much time as possible for them to get a good squad together. Of course the decision might already have been made and as usual we fans will be the last to know.
  8. Agree with this.I am in no way an Archie can do no wrong person, but when I see fans talking about Kenny Miller as a player manager and also Duffy,if that is the best we can do let Archibald prove he has learned lessons like he said a few weeks ago and also see if he can win us promotion for a second time.It is taking a chance but not as big a chance if we decide we are going to let somebody who is coming to the end of his playing career find out if he is any good as a manager or not.
  9. Plenty of new faces in the 2019 calendar.
  10. Don't want to depress everybody but the best thing to happen would be for us to only spend a couple of seasons at the most in the championship and then back up to the premier with a competitive team and good manager.
  11. McCall has said Thistle should stick with Archibald and he would not replace Archibald if Thistle sacked him.
  12. Reading these posts I feel there has been good reasons for both Archibald staying and going,is part of the problem the uncertainty of who we would get if he did go ?
  13. A rchibald said yesterday that the players still with contracts have clauses in them to protect the club.I think a lot of players with contracts will also be going. On the bright side seen Doolan on tv saying he wants Archibald to stay,so hopefully that means Doolan will be staying.
  14. Laukat the quotes below are reasonable answers to your question.
  15. Agree.Who is the manager that springs to your mind? Agree, but as has already been said the new season starts in 8 weeks time.We cant afford to hang about. No matter who the manager is they will need to build a squad of players if not from scratch not far from it.I would keep Archibald in charge but only if he thinks he can get us challenging for the title next season, unlike others on here I don't think we should be settling for 6th position.Love or hate the premier league the longer any team is out of it the harder it is to get back in.
  16. Cerny handed his gloves and top to some off the crowd, does that mean that's him off?
  17. You are of course correct we will not know if the decisions are right until we are well into the season. But if we do have a new manager will it be a young up and coming manager somebody suggested Goodwin or will it be a tried and tested one like Duffy. Will we be going with a young squad with some old heads for experience.I don't think you will see many of the current Thistle squad play again for us.
  18. I know from your posts that you watch the development team, how many if any do you think would be ready to play in the championship for Thistle.
  19. There was a number of fans at the front of the John Lambie stand telling Archie where to go and it wasn't to go and prepare the team for next season.
  20. When we got promotion in 2013 I am sure that most of us wondered how long we could stay in the top league for. As we watched so called bigger clubs drop down to the championship and we managed to survive I am sure that most of us hoped that we could emulate St.Johnstone and become an established top flight club.I am sure that our top 6 finish had a fair amount of us thinking that we had done it and from now on it would be just a matter of would we finish in the top 6 or just outside it.Now 12 months after that top 6 we have been relegated and it hurts me to say it but we deserve to go down.Yes if we picked up an extra point or 2 we would have finished above Hamilton, but the truth is we had a number of chances to save our top flight status and we couldn't do it.We were beaten in both legs of the play off by a team who only got promoted to the championship last season and who had based their budget on finishing eighth in the championship.Since the 2 leagues of 18 were changed in the seventies , anytime Thistle has been relegated from the top league it has taken us 10years,6years and 9years to get back to the premier league. The decisions that are made in the coming week have to be the right ones or we could find ourselves once again waiting a decade or longer before we see top flight football back again.
  21. As usual when a team gets relegated the majority of the players want to leave the sinking ship as if they had nothing to do with it.As I have said in the past players, managers, directors and chairman come and go but us Thistle fans will remain.
  22. Always the same for these sort of games, fans come that don't most other weeks.Really surprised by Livingston support is their average not about 1000? Lets hope by the end of next season we have similar crowds because we are going for the title.
  23. It will probably be a very interesting close season with all the comings and goings.
  24. There were a lot of very angry fans at the front of the John Lambie stand shouting for Archie to f--k off.I would also predict there will be a total clear out. What sort of team we will have next season is very hard to say.
  25. Out of our team today I would not be surprised if only Doolan and Erskine was still with us next season.
