After a poor start Arbroath have won their last 3 league games, so won't be an easy game, but one we should be looking to take all 3 points from.
Apart from bringing Milne back in i would keep the starting line up the same as last week.
I feel that Brian Graham deserves a special mention. Might not have been his best game, but he did get that early goal that gave us something to hold onto and meant Ayr had to come at us which they did but thankfully we held on in the first half and blew them away in the second half.
In his post match interview BBG said that he had lost his mother in law last Sunday and it was a difficult time for the Graham family and he dedicated his goal to his mother in law, pure class from him.
Over my many years of supporting Thistle i have seen us dominate games and end up losing. It was good to see us tonight riding out a bit of a storm from Ayr after we scored, then coming out in the second half and scoring some really good goals and ending up comfortable winners.
Great result. Well done to the management team, players and our fans who sang all night in horrendous weather.
I stay in Renfrew about a mile from Braehead so i could go and watch the hockey. I am not far from Renfrew juniors and about 4 miles from St. Mirren. After supporting Thistle for nigh on 60 years i could not have the same passion or enthusiasm to go to any of the aforementioned as i have for supporting Thistle.
So for me i would be an armchair supporter.
Dowds looked a bit like a super sub when he came on as a sub and scored on a few occasions, had a really good goals to minutes on the park ratio at one point. I think it was at the start of this year he got a head knock and never did anything since. Good luck to him as long as it doesn't affect us in any way.
When Doolan came in last season we had a number of clean sheets, so far this season we have had none. The reason imo and has already been said by some on this forum has been our failure to get a Docherty type player. Some on this forum did not rate him and thought we would not miss him. Imo now that he is no longer with Thistle we are now seeing what he brought to the team. Holt is also a big miss for us.
I do understand that because of how our finances were dealt with by our previous regime that from this season we have had to cut our cloth accordingly and that it would be extremely difficult if not impossible to replace the players we have lost with a like for like replacement.
You are correct about Sneddon saves, don't remember their 2 chances. But apart from that we dominated the second half, hitting the woodwork, having one cleared of the line and missed a few good chances. Any way it's all about opinions.
I know it is as on old saying, but on another day we would have won that game. Played well, but missed some good chances and hit the woodwork twice. Plenty of effort from both sides and apart from the result it was a good watch.
Gave some players a chance to get minutes on the park and hopefully help us for the league games to come.
Stanway again had a very good game, not sure what sort of contract he is on but if his current form continues we should make sure he is on at least a 2 year contract.
