  1. Bingo Harrywragg! A large Red Herring flag proudly flying over Firhill will remind us all of the sheer stupidity of this sorry episode.
  2. I, like most people I suspect, have no idea what is going on. However true fan ownership means having control over all the Club's decisions. That cannot happen if fans' share ownership falls below 25% of voting (ordinary) shares, since minority shareholders can then veto crucial decisions.
  3. First of all let's be quite clear that Gerry Britton is an administrator and is not responsible for the decisions that have affected the financial plight of the Club. That responsiblilty lies fair and square with the Board. It would be very helpful to the discussion and future actions if a detailed cash flow statement that covered the last 3 years could be calculated and made available to the fans. Perhaps the previous Board operated on the understanding that they had access to additional funding (perhaps from the Weir family). Who knows? It would also be helpful if a projected 1 year cash flow could be published that included capital items such as maintenance and repair. The discussion on the future of the Club is hampered by a lack of information, and unless that is addressed, I suspect that fans will be reluctant to respond for additional help.
  4. What you say is true Lenziejag, but the other players you mentioned each made a contribution, whereas I, like some others on here, struggle to identify much of a contribution from Bannigan. I know it's a bit unfair to single out players for criticism, but he is one paced and risk averse, and that does not fit into the style of play that got us to Sunday. That I think explains why so many question Doolan's decision to bring him on.
  5. The police advised the ref to avoid the Thistle end - presumably on public safety grounds.
  6. Run out of likes, but agree entirely. Doubt if Bannigan will be here next season. - The Club stood by him for a very lengthy spell when he was injured, but he adds nothing and hopefully with Milne back, the left side can be re-jigged, and Bannigan can use his talents elsewhere.
  7. How can anyone claim that promotion would have been a bad thing, and that we are somehow better off in the Championship next season! That seems to me like some sort of psychological tic. They fret that finances are weak but seem to forget or ignore the extra income that promotion would have brought, with costs still under our control. Doolan has done a remarkable job, but you have to give huge credit to Malky Mackay. They pressed high in the pitch and our defence were often forced to punt it upfield. They also marked Tiffony, Lawless and Fitzpatrick much more closely than in the first leg. I thought that the goal would settle our nerves, but we managed our worst performance for a long time. Loooking back at the season, we seemed either to have won very easily or lost very easily, but with the apparent inabilty to win tight matches. Let's hope that the young supporters return next season and that we can build a good young side by improving our scouting system, learn some lessons from yesterday, and make the most of Kris Doolan's management skills.
  8. I thought it was a penalty. RC player's left foot was nowhere near the ball.
  9. Hopefully that goal will settle players' nerves. Everything a bit rushed, with too many punts upfield.
  10. I see your logic, but my concern about Bannigan is that he slows the game down with too many side or backward passes. He is also prone to needless fouls, and that would allow RC to punt balls to their big men. Slowing the game down, as he did when he came on last Thursday, would suit RC, who will be without Edwards their main pace man.
  11. Fantastic first half, with everyone playing a blinder. Second half I thought we tired and made some uncharacteristic mistakes, but County defended really well. As others have said, they will have to come at us on Sunday, and without Edwards, who I thought was the main threat, they will lack pace. 3 goals would have seemed more than one extra over the 2 we scored, but like many I would have settled for the 2 at 8 pm last night.
  12. Best response to an interviewer's post match idiotic question? Ron Atkinson's answer after being beaten in a midweek cup tie "On another night it could have been our day"
  13. The commentary improves beyond measure if you watch the match without sound.
  14. Just accept that life is imperfect, shrug your shoulders and wait for things to balance out.
  15. Matches not shown live on BBC. Anyone know what channel has them?
  16. Was a red card without doubt except to the disappointed BBC, and Muirhead was shown a yellow for the same incident but not mentioned by the BBC. There were several other Ayr fouls well off the ball early in the game that went unpunished. Great performance all round, including that of the subs. Nothing to fear from the finals, especially if we get a bit more clinical with our finishing - can't see any of our possible opponents being as leaky in defence as Ayr or QP.
  17. Sounds like an unwanted regression to the McCall era. Ayr have to go for it, which plays into the fast counter-attacking style we have been so successful with lately, and which has got us into this position. The midfield have recently shown that they fight for every ball, and have the ability to break quickly - ideal for tonight. Playing an unfit Bannigan would slow the pace and be a mistake. Same team tonight please Mr Doolan.
  18. Another fantastic performance, and a wee bit unfair to praise individual players in what was a great team effort. The big differences from the McCall era are the speed of play, work rate and motivation. Time and again the Ayr players were beaten for speed, and the midfield fought tooth and nail as per Lambie's teams. The BBC stats showed we had less possession than Ayr but more shots on target, which if true, simply confirms the effectiveness of Doolan's management.
  19. Can't make Firhill tonight so hoping for better luck than last Friday, when there was a power cut at 7.30 pm in Bettyhill where we were on holiday. No power for several hours, so I was reduced to trying to get regular updates on the car radio with no BBC Scotland reception. Did not get the final score until well into Saturday. Fingers crossed for another strong performance tonight, especially early on from defence and midfield.
  20. I would have liked to have seen QP promoted instead of Dundee. QP had a fantastic season up until a few weeks ago, and Owen Coyle has done a terrific job. He presumably thinks he has taken them as far as they could go, and Jaggy's suggestion of hime being Dundee bound may true.
  21. He undoubtedly has a good eye for players, but I think the way he was sacked might prove an obstacle. McCall will obviously be looking for something more permanent and lucrative, but maybe as a stopgap, your suggestion might be of benefit to both parties.
