  1. We certainly lost it in midfield. Osman was anonymous, and the others didn't seem to have the energy. Today, lawless got pushed around too much. Apart from his goal, Higgy did nothing. Too many players under par.
  2. Who would you have played ?
  3. Is it at all possible that Stevenson is helping to make space for the other midfielders that Doolan wasn't able to do
  4. Did McGowan get booked or anything. He definitely moved towards Fox and raised his hand first. Didn't connect with his head mind you, but he instigated it.
  5. With that in mind, Archie needs to have a severe word with Bannigan - another needless yellow for him vs County
  6. The 2 performances that surprised me were MacMillans and Lawless. MacMillan looked really fit and seemed to have a fair turn of pace. Lawless seems to have learned how not to get pushed off the ball so easily.
  7. Erty, I am pretty sure that was the firs time they have played together - but I agree with you, there were a couple of times that we could easily have been punished by County due to their misunderstanding. however, I am sure that will get rectified once they have trained and played.
  8. That is more in line with the real state of affairs. Only, I wouldn't include Osbourne as he was out for 1/2 the season and although you say Buaben wasn't a direct replacement, I don't think we would have brought him in if Osbourne hadn't got injured in that ridiculous St J game that should never have started.
  9. Aye, but we have Stevenson and Osman. Don't get me wrong, I think we still need to replace Mair, ATS and Taylor, but some are getting it all out of proportion.
  10. The implication seemed to be that we had lost 5 but only brought in 2. However, we didn't have Scully as he was already out at Dunfermline - so that's 4 out and 2 in. McAleer wasn't in the 1st team. So that a 3 out and 2 in. Get my drift now.
  11. However, Scully was at Dunfermline last year and McAleer wasn't near the 1st team. There's a lot if spin going on.
  12. Well last season Buaben replaced Osborne and this season Osman has replaced Buaben - so no loss of personnel there. In my view there 3 to replace from last season Mair,ATS and Taylor.
  13. Pretty sure that if I was a board member and irrespective of what I did I still got stick from fans, I would just say to myself "stuff them"
  14. Just because you have more money doesn't mean it is enough for the players that are available. I could counter with my opinion regarding the players you have mentioned but that is all it is - my opinion. I don't get the derogatory use of the term trialist. I think it is a smart move to see if a player fits in rather than just signing and hoping for the best. Who have been the options at CB, LB and CF that we have missed in our price range
  15. You may be right that a mess has been made of it, but you can't judge until well into the season. Also there is no point in signing players if they aren't better than what we have already.
  16. What was the score at FT - anybody know ?
  17. It may be bad/naive management, but why is it the default position of many supporters. I think there are other possibilities like a problem with his visa, could be a personal problem
  18. How do we know if any of the players on trial will work out for us. Rewind to the tail end of div 1 season. McMillan and Dowie signed, but not to any huge fanfair. In fact I would say that it was a pretty underwhelming reaction from the fans. Dowie played a huge part in us getting promoted and McMillan is now pretty much 1st choice. On the other hand we were overjoyed when Erskine returned in Jan, but he didn't put in too many memorable performances.
  19. If we were playing European football, we would either have good enough players of would be a more attractive proposition for better players. I think that a lot of players will be thinking Thistle will be on the 2nd season slump and not willing to commit too early. Dundee have made a lot of signings but at what cost ?
  20. Glad you weren't involved when the Weir's were considering investing in Thistle Youth set up. Can't see anybody investing in something if there is no commitment!
  21. By this do you mean that they aren't good enough or that you don't Archie really wants to give youth a chance. If I remember correctly, when Bannigan first came on the scene, he played a couple of games at the start of the season and then a few at the end. Mind you he was only about 16 at the time.
  22. What is the difference in not being able to judge the trialist on half an hour but being impressed by Wilson who also played half an hour ?
