  1. "wasn't pished or anything" like you would have to be pished to say such a thing, either pished, certifiable, or perhaps both Totally agree that we are in crisis and that change has to come now. I would happily have either Jim Goodwin or Ian McCall as our manager. I wouldn't split too many hairs about it, just get one or the other of them hired, asap.
  2. I would be delighted to have Ian McCall as manager. He's a great manager
  3. Fair comment LIB. Let's be honest the longer the season goes on, the less the table lies and if we carry on in the same vein, the likelihood is that we're going down. I have nothing against Gary Caldwell, he may well be a decent enough chap. It's his record that's the problem, it's grim. Because of his dubious record, the alarm bells should have been ringing loud and clear, before a contract was typed up, never mind signed. Now we appear to be saddled with a lame duck manager with no get out clause. This was all very predictable. Therefore. I don't blame Gary Caldwell, I blame the people who appointed him. They should have seen this fiasco coming a mile off. It's a real mess.
  4. Who knows LIB, who knows what's gone on or what's going on? You outline some of the problems coursing through our club. Why didn't we actively go after and hunt down a suitable replacement before we dispensed with the services of our long term manager? Why did we rely only upon applications? Is it due to naivety or is it down to the self importance of those in charge, who wanted a sycophantic beauty pageant, with eager job applicants willing to dance to their tune? Like him or loathe him, Jim Goodwin is an ambitious young manager learning his trade. The Thistle job would be ideal for him as we are a club with massive unfulfilled potential and we don't sack (decent) managers at the drop of a hat. It's funny, when Jim was suggested for the Thistle job at the end of last season, some protested that he was thug, a pshycopath and generally unfit to hold the position of manager. Then, when looking for a new manager during October, many of these people now claimed Jim was not a big enough name, did not have the experience and was a manager of a small fry club below us in the table. Now some are saying; Jim is happy where he is, we can't possibly afford him and we are not a big enough club for him! One thing is for sure. If the people tasked with running our club, had half the determination, fight and ambition of Jim Goodwin, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in today.
  5. Very true Jaggy, good luck and Gary Caldwell don't keep close company with one another.
  6. Thank you very much Fawlty Towers, that means a lot to me coming from someone like yourself. Nevertheless, I wish it was the other way round and that I was wrong. The reason I was so pissed off about Gary Caldwell getting the job, is because I believe that Jim Goodwin is the man for the Job. Gary Caldwell doesn't seem to carry luck. I was at the game today, didn't think we were that bad. We lack something though, something you just can't define and until we get that certain something, that illusive special brew, we're never going to fulfill our potential to reach our destiny. Anyway; "Carborundum illegitimi perpetum" as they say.
  7. Gary Caldwell is well on target to get 3 different clubs relegated in 3 years. Whoever is responsible for giving him the job, should also be shown the door.
  8. The "cry babies" are turning on Caldwell.
  9. Please do not kill off our last hope. We need some sort of straw to clutch.
  10. I wouldn't be so sure Norge. Jim has been spotted at Forth Valley College attending the "Power Point for Pros" night classes
  11. Gary Caldwell has gotten worse results out of the same players as Archie. We should of hired Jim Goodwin.
  12. Fair cop Jag You didn't say any of those things, I was putting the words in your mouth! Think we will have to agree to disagree over the "knee jerk reaction".
  13. Jordanhill Jag is concerned that we may be getting ourselves roped into something that we cannot afford in the medium to long term. He is yet to hear cast iron assurances from anyone that this is categorically not the case.
  14. Big game against Morton. It's a six pointer. Morton are pretty rotten and they will be dragged into the relegation battle. We really have to win this game, a draw is 2 points lost. I don't care how we do it, as long as we grind it out, win the game and get 3 crucial points.
  15. Bearing in mind that Gary Caldwell was unemployed with his managerial career in tatters, the club were negotiating from a position of real strength. Surely there must have been a few get out clauses put in the contract?
  16. That's one crazy idea. Let's do it
  17. Jaf, You have faith in our board. You see them as decent, hardworking, competent, stand up people who are working solely for the best interests of Partick Thistle. If this belief gives you comfort; good luck to you. I however do not share your faith and see things as I see them. If something looks like shyte and smells like shyte, I am not going to eat it just to prove to myself that it is actually shyte. The board are cheapskates, probably one of the reasons Archie always struggled to get decent players. The board are cheapskates, so didn't want to sack Archie and Shaggy with a year on their contracts left. The support was getting angrier by the hour something had to give. The board thought it better to throw Archie and Shaggy to the wolves/out the balloon, throw them a bit of red meat/ballast overboard, in fact anything to get the fans of our backs. Hence - Knee jerk reaction. The board are cheapskates, you don't get a more damaged record than Gary Caldwell. If he was an LP he would be virtually unplayable. I bet his terms were very reasonable. "Knee jerk reaction" stays on my list along with everything else.
  18. I am not an expert on employment law, far from it. I just assumed that they had to go through the motions and offer the vacancy to all comers. However, under the circumstances, I would have expected the club to have approached and sounded out their preferred choice's well in advance. Hopefully the club were fully proactive in their search for our new manager and didn't rely solely upon various candidates forwarding their CV's directly to the club. More often than not you have to chase and hunt down the best people. You just can't rely on them to beating a pathway to your door.
  19. Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you and yours had a good day.
  20. Scotty, my mistake, you're right they didn't feed that exact line. https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/16971971.after-pain-of-alan-archibalds-exit-jacqui-low-enthused-by-candidates-who-want-to-get-partick-thistle-back-on-track/ But it was along those lines.
