  1. 24th April 1971 - Stranraer 3-0. My next door neighbour took me for the last game of the season. I can remember standing towards the back of the old North terrace and it was a pretty big crowd as we had wrapped up the league title the week before. I can't remember why, but 3-0 was significant as it ment we qualified for the Drybrough's Cup (or some other diddy competition). Some good games the following season
  2. It was a game that we dominated for these 7 seconds, then sat back to defend the lead for the remaining 5,423. Them were the days !
  3. Would Adrian Madaschi fit the bill ? I can't remember too many tears when he left, but has manage to forge a career in SerieB while still in the Socceroo's plans. Cost us a bloody fortune in the debacle over training fees. Langfield and Young are shoe-ins for this list.
  4. Very much so. He lives not far from me and is a genuine nice guy. Doesn't have a good word to say for Sir Alex though.
  5. Yeh, but Spain will have qualified before we play them, so by the same argument, when we go to Spain, Brown and Fletcher could run rings round Xavi and Iniesta
  6. Ever the optimist, I don't think that we are out of it yet. Assuming that Spain beat both us and the Czechs, I don't fancy their chances of going to Lithuania needing to get 3 points. 2 wins for us, starting tonight might well be enough. (Hey .... we are due a wee bit of luck after Saturday)
  7. Living down south, I am a bit remote from what is happening and have to rely on the official site and forums such as this to keep up to date with what is going on at Firhill. I have been trying to get my head round what has been going on here. Some guys we don't like very much wanted to change the club rules to give themselves more power. These guys may have conflicting interest as they have investments in the "propco" project. They were stopped by some guys we like even less who were probably looking after their own interests. The guys that we don't like very much have significant investments in Thistle and there is a fear that they may now ask for their money back, money that we just don't have. Is that a reasonable summary ?
  8. Is that like, "on average human beings have less than 2 legs ?"
  9. Not got a history of good luck against them, but this time I can see a hard fought 2-1 win
  10. Welcome to Firhill Stephen. You'll have to play well to take Paul's place in the team and I look forward to seeing how you get on.
  11. I think that all 6 nations will fancy their chances from this group.
  12. Can't argue much with that. Grehan on the bench instead of Fraser ?
  13. Those forwards include last years leading scorer in the league and possibly the best prospect we have had for a long time. Assuming Doolan and Stewart are the regular front 2 then we have plenty of cover up front. Now look at the defence. We don't even have untried youngsters as cover. For me, a central defender who can play right back is the priority and has been for some time.
  14. Would I be allowed to hack into anyone's mobile phone messages ?
  15. Is LLDDDLDDWLDDLLLLDLDLDD a A market town in West Wales b the chorus from a Rolf Harris song in the 1970's c the results of Rangers last 22 games in Europe
  16. Dundee with no debt have the best chance to assemble a title winning squad and unless they make a hellish start will have the clout to spend in January to win the league. Not fair, but that is where we are. Hamilton won't be far away and I see us in the next group, with Ross, Morton, Livingston and Raith. Falkirk could do just about anything and once Elvis is sacked will probably recover to midtable. I can't see anything other than QotS and Ayr for the bottom two. My prediction is a comfortable Jags 4th place
  17. If he can get to a game, can he play instead of thanking us ?
  18. Falkirk's Ryan Flynn looks to be on his way to Sheffield United. The Bairns are going to have very few senior players left by the start of the season.
  19. I suspect that the real question is "when does the Ignis sponsorship deal end" as we probably can't launch the new strips until MacB formally take over.
  20. Welcome to the land of Jaggyism, the promissed land where only the good will discover. Saddly atmosphere and Firhill are not words you normally find in the same sentence. For the last few years we have not been served up the sort of entertainment that is conducive to an electric atmosphere. That said, we have a new manager who appears to favour a more attacking style and some exciting young players who are going to have to quickly learn to cope with first team action. There is a general air of optimism around he club and if we can make a good start to the season then perhaps the long lost disciples may return Twinney mentioned Fox, Doolan and Erskine. I would add David Rowson to the list. Rowser may be in the twilight of his career and may be a connoisseur's player, but he always gives 110% and rarely has a bad game. I'll also mention Tommy Stewart who we signed at the tail end of last season and looks to have goals in his boots. Playing with Dools (Doolan) upfront I think there is genuine optimism that we have 2 strikers who can find the net on a regular basis. The real rivals are Clyde, Airdrie, Rangers and Celtic, but as they are all in different leagues there is not much chance of meeting any of them next season. Other than that, there are few teams that the true Jag likes, so pick any of 41 as our rivals You have become a disciple at just the right time and I hope your presence brings that bit of luck that can make the difference to Glasgow's finest.

    Puns

Harmless fun for me. I can see how they may annoy those who may want a more serious discussion, so I wouldn't object to a warning so that people know what they are getting into and it will allow them to cod off if they've haddock nuff of it. (Sorry)
  22. As long at the predominant colours of the strip as a whole are red and yellow, I don't care if it is stripes, hoops, plain, halfs, quarters, checkers, squiggles. I don't care if it is a v neck, round neck or collar. I don't care if it has trim hear there or anywhere. We are the "red'n'yellah army" and always will be the "red'n'yellah army"
  23. Is this thread a joke ? I don't get the Punchline
