  1. Looks like a 1970's reject with a sponsors logo added. Very disappointed if that is the new top. I'm sure that jagsman411971 is right though and we will get an "off the shelf" Puma design.
  2. Hmmmmmm ! 1. Stockport County (4.3 m) Edgeley Park 2. Manchester City (8.6 m) City of Manchester Stadium 3. Macclesfield Town (10.6 m) Moss Rose 4. Manchester United (10.7 m) Old Trafford 5. Oldham Athletic (11.7 m) Boundary Park 6. Bury (16.2 m) Gigg Lane 7. Rochdale (16.6 m) Spotland 8. Huddersfield Town (21.9 m) Galpharm Stadium 9. Sheffield Wednesday (23.2 m) Hillsborough 10. Bolton Wanderers (23.5 m) Reebok Stadium I wish non-league clubs were included so that Hyde Utd and Ashton Utd would bump the Manchester teams down. Stockport are about to vanish from that list
  3. Because they are a team with little or no debt and are well supported by fans who are motivated to earn money. Get over it and get on with Thistle. How do you know that Jackie was interested in Ryan ?
  4. I know it is more sexy to sign up a new forward, but have you had a look at our defence ? We currently have Lindsay, Archibald, Kinniburgh, Paton (who may or may not be fit for the start of the season) and Campbell (Really a midfielder). Apparently we also have Ketterer and Stephenson who I guess are U19s that I have never heard of. From last season's squad we have lost Boyle, MacNamara, Balatoni (may sign again), Robertson (not being talked about as signing) Do you really think that we can start the season with just 4 defenders and put priority into signing a 7th forward ? If so, I'm glad we have Jackie as manager and not you !
  5. Best wishes to him. I know he had a howler in a match against Dundee (Wikipedia says he played 10 times for us) but he is probably one of the best players we let slip through our net.
  6. A DJ for next season that will play that before the game. Would get some attmosphere in the JH going.
  7. Is Wilko the 3rd Jag to have played in an FA Cup final ? Hansen and MoJo are the only others that I can think of.
  8. No Rowser ? Maybe a deal is already on the table. Edit - Just read the article
  9. Ross Forsyth at Stirling anyone ?
  10. If Kenny has made it to Scunthorpe he has done remarkably well with his talent. He will be earning a pretty decent salary there, better than he could have done in the SPL.
  11. I am delighted with this appointment. Good luck Jackie, Sid and all at Firhill next season.
  12. What if they had been 0-1 ?
  13. HJ, I have to disagree. Attack wins matches, Defence wins titles. I would much rather see us signing some solid, experienced defenders who, with Fox behind them would give some of our midfielders the chance to get forward and support the front men. It may well be a buyers market, but we are skint and have to cut our cloth accordingly. We can't have both, and I would hate to get a top (for our level) striker who never sees the ball other than to kick off.
  14. No they couldn't. Being in administration results in a transfer embargo. The number 1 priority for the administrator is not to recover funds for the creditors. The number 1 priority is to maintain the business as a going concern. That is the law. Period. The law may be an ass, but getting rid of deadwood and maintaining as many valuable assets as he can is exactly what he should do. The penalties for a football club going into administration are handled by the SFA/SFL and can only be in the form of points penalties, fines or automatic relegation. The last of these would have been a farce in mid season and the 25 point penalty was fairly draconian and at the top end of most estimates. It should have resulted in relegation were it not for a great run that would have won them the league. You can't fault Dundee for playing the system, you can fault the system for allowing all of the players on trial.
  15. It might. Do you think that Wullie, Archie and Paul will save us from relegation ?
  16. Why ? By that argument, a garage in financial difficulties gets taken over by new owners. Does the garage have to sell off all of its tools and equipment before they can start operating again ? No one would buy the garage and their creditors would then get nothing. Edit to add - I'm not defending Dundee, just agreeing with the title of this thread.
  17. I have to say that I am more worried about our defence for next season than our attack. We have plenty of numbers up front, including one of the leagues leading scorers, but at the back, we have Archie, Wullie and Paul. I don't think that any of the youth team are ready to join the first team in defence and I doubt that Jackie will be a regular starter. We need a left back and a central defender minimum before we start looking at the front. Weatherston might be a good buy as he can play at the back as well as up front. As for the 4-3-3, it is exciting, but it hasn't been getting us the results. I know that we have injuries, but 1 win and 1 draw in 4 games along with 6 goals conceded is not promotion challenging form.
  18. The problem is that you are confusing the failings of the previous owners with the situation the current owners have. The previous owners may have ripped off suppliers, but legally, that has now been resolved. The current owners are allowed to make a fresh start, no debts and big crowds. Not fair I know, but that is how the system works.
  19. You are assuming that "as it sees fit" means a further penalty.
  20. Great news ! I noticed that Derek Young had been released by Aberdeen. I know he is probably on a bigger wadge than we could afford, but he must have some sort of link to Jackie and Sid so if there was a chance, wouldn't mind seeing him in a Thistle shirt again. Rowser the next priority though.
  21. Very disappointed to hear that McCall has gone and I guess that the full story will unfold over the next few days. Whatever people think of him, he is the first manager for years to come out of the shaddow of John Lambie. I wish him well in what he does, but he was not the best or the worst manager that we have had. I am very pleased that we are giving a rookie manager a chance. I don't know why Jackie rather than Maxie, Sid or even Archie, but I'm sure that the board know the potential of all the senior players and Jackie looked like the best bet. Of the experienced managers that might be interested, none fill me with any enthusiasm, so giving Jackie a chance to prove himself is probably a good thing. The only way we are going to get a really good manager is to get lucky with someone unproven, and Jackie is as good a bet as any. Good luck to Jackie and the Jags
  22. I thought exactly that earlier today
  23. Could be an ironic nickname. My dad was 6'4" and his nickname was "Tiny"
  24. Does it matter ? Game will be postponed anyway
