As has been stated he left for a bigger job any ambitious manager would've done the same He left us in a fantastic position with a great squad and I for one are grateful. If he is looking at signing out of contract players to improve his new side and by doing that he comes to thistle I really don't think we can complain, the players should be on longer contracts if we rated them that highly. We couldn't blame the players for leaving either, united would at least treble their wages and for such a short career then who could blame them, except those blinded by an idealistic love of the club

If a player under 23 leaves us as the contract is up I'm pretty sure we only get compensation if its to another Scottish team

Wee Ali Crawford from accies has impressed me hugely any time I've seen him (6 or 7 times) He is the guy who scored the screamer against us in the Friday night game last season... Very very skilfully and plays the game the right way which unfortunately for him when u include the fact he ain't a giant monster means he doesn't fit in with reid's style of play.... Would suit us and our style down to a tee... Smashing player

It's no bad... Despite living in Hamilton and dropping in for a pint or two after work every now and then it's torture to get in on thistle/airdrie/Motherwell days... They employ bouncers which they don't usually have who have no knowledge of the place. I got knocked back, stone cold, last season cause I never had accies colours on despite the fact I was meeting 6 accies mates inside and I showed my license which had my Hamilton address on (31 with grey hair so no age issue) I had no thistle colours on... Strange place on match days... For future reference I'd recommend the tap room if not in full head to toe colours (they just ask you to take off scarf otherwise) or bar west both just 2 mins walk from ground (across peacock cross feom each other) and never any bother in either

Can't believe people are praising Bannigan!?! What game were you at? Totally at fault for the first goal, mainly due to being so weak on the ball and then proceeded to give the ball away or run into someone with it every time he had it. I pointed it out to my brother at the time and we were amazed at how poor he was! Can remember only one good thing he did when he chased a lost cause and played it back to Boyle. Honestly though he looked like a lost wee boy... On the plus side we knocked the ball around extremely well for the first 50 mins untill the subs were made, which had to be done its a preseason friendly after all. On the negative side too many groans about us not playing the ball forward enough. Honestly don't know why some people go to watch football when they have a go at player for playing a simple ball sideways or back and retaining possession rather than try and force a pass that's not on just to play it forward... Worst example was 2nd half when we broke forward and Burns layed it off to a midfielder, not sure who, and by the time he recieved the pass Burns had ran about 5 yards offside. The stick the boy got for not playing MacBeth in was unreal, despite the fact he showed great awareness not to play the pass!!!! Unreal sometimes...

As posted before MacKay has indeed played at centre half most games since the arrival of Duburry (sp?) Think his football brain acts as a foil for the big mans physical attributes... Much like when I acted as the footballing ability throughout school football to get Mackay his professional contract! Ha Ha!
