  1. What's right? That the players have to provide their own lunches or the preparation area is allegedly dodgy?
  2. I feel that's a bit inappropriate of late. Granted we've not really been winning away from home but draws against Falkirk, Dunfermline & Queens and the Cup win against Stirling have all been decent showings. The defeat to an SPL side is our only loss in our last 6 matches. We were poor last night but the ref did cost us big time. We've a fair amount of away fixtures due (four in as many weeks), and I may have to eat my words come the middle of March, but our away form hasn't been abysmal since yon daft day at Forthbank in October.
  3. It's an incredible decision. I really thought there had to be something more to it. Clown of a ref
  4. I know he's expressed interest often enough but GDS just doesn't come across as crooked enough.
  5. Just to add my tuppence worth, going back over recent years we've rarely got a decent result in adverse weather conditions. We especially tend to play amateurish when there's a strong wind. I guess what happened tonight was the weather nullified whatever advantage we should have over Cowden. In their own way. and no doubt helped by the early one goal lead, they handled the conditions far better than us. I've no idea what substitutions were forced on us for health reasons or were tactical but I saw no improvement with Cairney for Hodge or with Erskine for Grehan. Donnelly for McGowan may have worked to benefit marginally. Of all the rather eccentric decisions from that ref tonight I thought the failure to apply the advantage rule with Doolan latish on was his crowning glory . The one player tonight that looked clued up on what was needed was Flannigan. He may play a little delicate for most of our liking but, if we overlook that, he at least plays with a bit of purpose. Just why he was taking corners from the right with the wind against us baffled me. I know Hodge was off the field but I'd have thought in Hodge's absence Boyle would be the obvious guy to take them.
  6. Not got a clue who's well or not. I suspect there'll be players fielded tonight that should probably have been rested and others not up to ninety minutes. I'd be surprised if Fox plays. Outfield players can be risked as they can easily be subbed but the last thing you want is to sub a goalie.
  7. I'd guess that's exactly why they might delay an inspection. From what I've seen of the forecast it's not too likely to freeze again once thawed.
  8. Bit of mixed opinions about the lad it seems Also some post mentioned that he was best at right back. edited to warn of fish puns towards the end of the thread
  9. Haud that result, courtesy Hearts website.... DOB: 15/08/89 Postion: Centre back or centre midfield Signed: Para Hills, Australia
  10. That's a weird one. It's not as if Balatoni is getting many outings these days either. Maybe Conrad's down with the flu or had a setback with his injury (he came thru the last reserve game fine). Robbo was excellent on Saturday considering he hadn't played for a good while. Do we really need another back line defender?
  11. McNamara & Donnelly turned down an offer from Stirling Albion. It's likely common knowledge within football circles that they're planning to go into management. They may well want to start at the bottom of the ladder so Clyde's not a bad bet. Duffy and Chico will no doubt have been sacked or jacked it in by the summer.
  12. I'd be surprised if the game will be on but he'd likely develop pneumonia if the weather stays the way it's been since last night.
  13. Try ex Chairman, ex Financial Director. As Marc Bolan used to say Di-di-di-di-di-di-di O dug a re dug n dug a re dug - re dug Di-di-di-di-di-di-di Na-na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na Dug a re dug n dug a re dug - re dug... O Debora, you look like a stallion O Debora, you look like a stallion
  14. Drug dealing outside primary schools, thieving from OAPs, mugging the blind and persistent standing. The lowest of the low
  15. Two full successful seasons in the SPL could be termed relatively dizzy heights. We'd have to go back to the likes of Albert Craig & Bobby Law to find the last Jags player that could claim to have had the same success with Thistle.
  16. Yes, I agree that's interesting. If Dundee ever decide to erect a statue outside their ground it shouldn't be for the likes of Billy Steel or Alan Gilzean. I'd suggest the Bennett fella should now be recognised as their greatest ever hero.
  17. Give in. What happened to Scott Fox?
  18. That's my view as well tho' uncharacteristically I would add that I don't think his first touch was too clever yesterday. Normally speaking bringing Sid on for a tiring player when you've a lead to protect is a no brainer.
  19. I can understand where you're coming from, NS. However I'm only talking about yesterday. I would still maintain that players of the experience of Archibald, Rowson, Robertson & Donnelly and supported by Paton, Boyle & Kinniburgh (three players that are hardly novices) should have had between them the collective nous to know how to have hung on to a 2 goal lead for little over 8 minutes. If you feel McCall was more to blame than the players on the pitch fair enough but I for one would disagree.
  20. I wonder if Jocky Scott has signed a contract at Forthbank?
  21. Great pics as always, CD . The photo of Erskine in the dug out brings it home just how much the bug must have affected us. Chris was one of the guys deemed well enough to start. I know that tiredness due to bug causing us to switch off late on is a kinda convenient excuse but there might just be some substance.
  22. Missed it yesterday as well and these highlights are rather inconclusive, but what exactly did Grehan do to get booked?
  23. I take by that you put the lion's share of the blame on McCall for us throwing away a two goal lead. Up till then I doubt there was much to complain about of either the players or manager. As posted elsewhere switching to 3-5-2 may have been an error as it invites the opposing team into attack. I thought at the time of the change it was to counteract the threat of Wetherston's pace particularly against Robertson. I'm not a great lover of our 3-5-2 as it usually negates our scoring chances but yesterday we scored after the change to set up. All this is a rather long winded way of saying that I believe the players more at fault for throwing away two late goals. There was a fair handful of very experienced players on at the end and I would've expected them to have handled things a lot better. Imo in this instance players far more culpable than manager.
