  1. What's it like outside the ground? Not an area that gets a lot of pedestrians use. Pavements etc could be a bit dodgy
  2. Wouldn't be that newsworthy a team winning any league 15pts behind the leaders with 21 games remaining. Even less remarkable in a ten team league where that team has still to play the leaders twice. But it certainly won't be our lot. If we end up closer to the top than the bottom and have a plus goal difference I'll be pleasantly surprised.
  3. Just a point, no doubt mentioned previously but worth repeating, had Dundee not been so profligate it could easily have been us in administration and being deducted points. I'm saying that as I believe no other club was prepared to fork out for Harkins. I'm far from certain where we would be now without that cash.
  4. Forecast for Falkirk tomorrow a high of -2C.
  5. Pitch Inspection at opening time tomorrow.
  6. Matches lost by having a thirty game league can easily be made up by having a sectional league cup (probably seeded and regionalised). The idea of having a "celtic" or cross border league cup should stand or fall on its own merit. Got to say I quite like the idea of playing clubs from outside Scotland on a competitive basis. If the Challenge Cup is to remain it would be beneficial to have some sort of carrot for winning it. Personally I think the Alba Cup should be open to Highland League, top Junior teams etc and only 2nd & 3rd div SFL clubs but that's another matter.
  7. He could I suppose have held us to his contract. I never thought the signing of Lovell was a bad move. The mistake came by extending his contract a second time (keeping him past the end of January). His second half at Airdrie was one of the best individual performances I saw last season. I think McCall had every right to expect a repetition of that form. When it was clear by January that wasn't going to happen he should have got shot of him. It's slightly ironic but if Lovell had been sent packing at New Year there'd have been a lot of angry punters.
  8. Thanks for update, Chicofan. The lad must clock up some mileage!
  9. That's a very valid point. As to a role for Liam, I tend to agree. It's fair to say he has assisted in a few goals but that was when he was scoring as well. I did think when he came on at E End Pk he made a difference by taking a bit of weight of the rest of the team (Erskine had done fine but is too prone to lose the ball). That's hardly a ringing endorsement of his value as we were content not to lose the match or at least happy with a goalless draw. Suspect Liam will be offered terms but they'll be more in line with the average wage at Firhill. I favour Archie over Robbo simply as left sided defenders are harder to replace. Rowson is another I'd keep on. I think he could always drop back into central defence as well. I'd see him as more than capable of playing the two roles McNamara has done this season. It's got to be said that, tho' just now is the ideal time to be arranging extensions to contract, we're clearly not in a financial position to do more than routine signings in that area. Getting the cash flow in order must take precedent.
  10. We've got to assume the £100K is now on the low side. I doubt the Club would have budgeted so low as to anticipate a 1500 crowd on a Saturday.
  11. What makes Pressley more of a clown is the fact that his side were by far the more negative team in the CIS tie a month or so earlier. Btw I see Paddy ain't too pleased
  12. How can anyone be charged with that brief come up with two ten club leagues? Who did he consult that could possibly be in favour of teams playing each other 4 times minimum? Don't bother answering I imagine we all know
  13. Don't want to prejudge but given speculation elsewhere.....
  14. Mentioned very briefly on STV. Breaking news about irregular betting on a sending off at last night's 'Well v Hearts game. Evidently large amounts placed on time of a sending off. Bets placed in Liverpool.
  15. I despise Dundee but Jackson has a point about being tried by those who benefit from their punishment. At the same time I also despise the idea that clubs with little or no ambition prop up the SFL with it's inane 3 x 10 club leagues and more significantly no demotion from the SFL. In other words the SFL are self serving, incompetent or imo both. The very fact that the SFL has no statutory and scaled penalty for entering administration, and the length of time in administration, shows the level of incompetence in that organistion. Whatever anyone feels about how Dundee have cheated doesn't take away from the fact they are getting judged and sentenced by incompetents. I can't fault Jackson for highlighting this.
  16. I'm unsure about linking kids and prize draws together. May come up against some reddish tape. Principle tho' is a good 'un
  17. I don't know anything about him but the usual question occurs. Would the lad uproot home and possibly give up a decent job outside football to come to us for what we'd likely offer? On that subject Rory McAllister at Brechin could arguably be the best striker in our division next season if his team get promoted.
  18. I'd but a bit surprised if -25pts is enough to relegate them. Ironically if their punishment was reduced to -15pts they might lose out on home crowds. The original punishment could see their Div 1 survival go close to the wire whereas a reduced penalty will probably see them safely remain in Div 1 but nowhere near challenging. the irony being that the former scenario will ensure larger crowds and thus more revenue.
  19. Wise decision. Just glare at that eejit and he'd be down on the deck claiming an assault.
  20. No problem with the ref last night. Maybe Willie K might have been unlucky to see yellow (thought the Pars player made too much of the challenge) but Thomson got most of the big decisions spot on.
  21. I've seen us play a lot worse and get three points. The main thing to take out the last couple of games is that extra bit of bottle we've shown. Good teams have been relegated from Div 1 for lacking the grit and determination. I'd rather we were examples of a poorer team with the backbone to stay up.
  22. Thoroughly deserved a draw tonight. In fact if the ball had run kinder we could have scraped a win. Bit of dig about the team these days. Thought Liam when he came on looked sharp.
