  1. Methinks if the game doesn't go ahead on Tuesday night there'll still be freezin' of the arse whenever the game gets played. If it's not the icy conditions that cause it to get called off it'll be flooding.
  2. Do you mean as in like a couple of your earlier posts this week?
  3. From a fitba-selfish point of view I'm glad it's off. The thawed out pitch would have taken a real battering.
  4. Ta btw Frank must be a serious contender for a place in anyone's best uncapped Scottish eleven. Off the top of my head we could nominate Davie McParland, Charnley and George Niven.
  5. Just took this random quote from 'Arry. That's like suggesting the RAC & AA have an institutionalised dislike of Germans for inventing the motor car as we know it. Maybe a country accredited for giving the game to the rest of the world shouldn't have adopted such a condescending attitude when declining to take part in the first three World Cups. Got a feeling that the FA have been playing catch up with FIFA ever since. BTW I keep hearing and reading England had the best technical bid. I take that to involve infrastructure. Undoubtedly got the stadia and probably training facilities etc but I'd certainly question transport. I know little about the transport system in Russia but doubt it can be as atrocious as UK road and rail networks, which in turn is light years behind that of Belgium/Netherlands. Maybe some of those FIFA wallahs decide to make their own way to inspect the various proposed venues?
  6. Can't say I've being paying much attention to all this but I could see England's grievance being more relevant if the voting had been closer.
  7. BJ, what was the nature of the injury that ended Frank's career?
  8. Well there's a Scottish election not far off. Don't think I'd be sounding too cynical to say a well signed petition may just attract a bit more political attention this time round.
  9. Excellent stuff but little wonder Raymond J. was soon shunted to the golf desk.
  10. Well played lads Results in so far are as follows.... in first place Incredible Adam Spark with 3 points in second Ember 2 points and a four way tie for third place with gianlucatoni, Earl of Hathaway, Wes & Stephen 1876 all on 1 point Still plenty to play for
  11. Dundee game also postponed. Must mean a worrying drop in income. I also hear Melville may have reneged on the last three of his promised £50K instalments. On the plus side for them they've got Sky money for a televised Cup game coming.
  12. The Bunnet calls for summer football HERE* *WARNING contains photo of Dick Campbell!!!
  13. Think I read somewhere that the SFL have made discretionary winter payments to all member clubs. Not the same thing of course as getting compo from the SFA or SPL. We've come off relatively well having two away games postponed.
  14. Can you imagine what the stushie would've been like if Celtic hadn't won that game and if TV replays had showed it was a penalty?
  15. Hardly surprising update from Pars website. Perhaps more surprising Jim Leishman delivers this update in prose.
  16. You know I've been thinking about that myself. I guess I'm just a creature of habit. You know the thing, go to France for my holidays same time every year, always drink in the same pub at the same times never changing my drinks, buy my food from the same shops, always get my car MoT tested in Dunfermline. I really should shake things up a bit, spice up my life . Mind you the other reason I take my car to Dunfermline is I live quite nearby and any necessary repairs will be under warranty at the garage there.
  17. I've been trying to get my car thru to Dunfermline for the last couple of days for an MoT and both days the garage has advised me not to risk it. The surrounding roads are very dodgy. Be quite surprised if the game goes ahead. Pars might not want to waste money on their ush if there's a likelihood of the polis calling it off.
  18. and an Amen, brother, from me. ( maybe I shouldn't have said "brother", ahem) One of the elements of paranoia that really gets me beelin' is when ugly sister A is playing against say Kilmarnock. Killie or whoever get a perfectly good goal disallowed. Ugly sister B somehow feels it's a decision gone against them and hey presto, it's paranoia alert time for them. Killie or whoever just accept the dodgy decision and more or less take it in their stride. Yet it's the team playing against ugly sister A that should be the ones that are paranoid. It need not of course be Killie. Could be any of 39 other clubs that just accept decisions are going to be weighted in favour of either of those two embarrassments to our nation. Now I'm sounding paranoid .
  19. Gotta feeling that the press/media will try and put some correlation between the Refs' dispute, Dallas resigning and now this. Naturally of course there's no relation re the timing of these three events .
  20. Wes, you accused a fellow poster on here as being "factually a bigot". Would it not be better to retract that? I can't see that in doing so would negate your argument in any way.
  21. I think the poster would have to expound on an alternative (eg his own religious views) to be considered a bigot. True, he's listed only negatives but that doesn't mean he wouldn't list negatives about other religions if relevant.
  22. If you stay quite a bit west of the M8 you might be quicker going out by Kirky and Kilsyth (you miss almost all the 40mph stuff on the A80/M80 doing that). Join the M80 then head towards Kincardine Bridge. If you're leaving it tight for time you'll end up parking maybe about 8-10 min walk to that duff stand. Think from leaving your home (assuming you're north or west of the city somewhere) to taking your seat you would have to allow at least 1hr 10min.
  23. I can't imagine any right minded Jags fan disagree with any of that. But why stop at the Grandad Slashers? I'd certainly add to the list the Baby Snatchers and THE
  24. Whether the Trust is a deid duck or a vibrant organisation wouldn't have made any difference to me. Road conditions last night were pretty appalling and as I would have had no alternative but to have driven I never gave attending the event much thought. Regardless of my opinion of the apparent current mismanagement of the Trust I don't feel it's correct procedure for fans in general to ignore such events for political reasons alone. All that does is starve the Club of funds (immediate or future ). But that's easier for me to say as I couldn't have attended.
  25. I mentioned this some time ago. Not only does the inane Challenge Cup cost clubs money when they're in it, a club can also lose money when they're out of it. In this case we're real losers. Three home ties, average crowd under 1500, reduced entry price. Even if we got a 60/40 split that can hardly leave a profit after stewarding, policing etc. I can't believe our share of the semi final TV money and gate would amount to much and obviously our travel costs would have to be offset against that. When you factor in what will undoubtedly be a considerable drop in gate money moving the Queens game to midweek you've got to query the purpose of the Challenge Cup.
