  1. month deal now confirmed. Well it is from the St Johnstone end.
  2. I'm saying nothing either but I think something similar happened to us a few years back in Fife.
  3. If this was horse racing there would be stewards inquiry. If it was snooker Barry Hearn would have aged 10 years overnight. Try explaining away how we just managed to score 2 goals against Liechtenstein and can score the same against Spain.
  4. I couldn't figure out if we were playing three at the back or a back four. Maxwell was either at left centreback or left back. Maxie is so fleet of foot it's difficult to tell . Certainly Erskine popped up at left back every so often. Don't remember any crunching tackles but he seemed to cover a lot of ground. When he scored his goal he cut in from the inside right channel!
  5. I wonder with Jamie Adams set to return from Dens if St J will maybe be less likely to offer Hardie a contract extension . No info about this, just me speculating.
  6. Talking about missing games, how many will be absent in our rearranged fixture with QoS? It's always the case that crowds are down for a midweek match. Also Queens usually bring a decent support on a Saturday but can't see many making the trip midweek in winter. That feckin' Challenge Cup You hardly make any money when you're in it. You even lose money when you're out of it
  7. the finest run club in Scotland or was it impending Armageddon?
  8. Was an incredible save . Not just getting to the ball but strong hands to push it safe. I guess most will only have seen McGeough, Burns, Bannigan & MacBeth from last season's under19s and perhaps, McGeough excluded, get the impression from what they've seen that the youngsters can play but are a wee bit light weight. Well Bannigan skinny tho' he is appears to be able to hold is own (or at least is heading that way) and Burns looks like he's bulked up a bit since the Spring. The likes of Lochhead & Campbell are hard nuts and Shaun Fraser, who's not that long turned 17, is not easily knocked off the ball. I echo what Tom said about the younger players looking "the real deal". Just hope the environment is right for a few of them to get playing in the first team soon.
  9. That's just where you're wrong. Carlyle's a regular at Firhill. I don't think for a moment I'm especially observant, rather I tend to turn up at Firhill a wee bit earlier than most, but I've see Robert on numerous occasions. Off the top of my head I saw him at the Berwick game dressed in drag selling 50/50 tickets. Was I the only one that spotted two Pee Tees at the Falkirk league cup tie? I know for certain for the Ayr game the man of many faces was in the director's box when just the two faces would've sufficed. Just who do you think was that aggressive wee polisman who cleared the Aitken Suite at 2.30 by cracking yon Magner's bottle on the counter?
  10. another in agreement with that. Also backs up what I said about Roberts yesterday. I remember him constantly talking Liam thru a game.
  11. Sad to hear but I'm sure Colin will be back. I believe the under 19s can field up to two overage players, which may be of help when the time comes. Don't think I'm exaggerating in saying that Colin's our most promising back row defender for some time.
  12. Agree, I'd even go further. If Dundee really want to play hardball I'd let them take any 2 players from us(Rowson excepted)for Harkins.
  13. Even when he wasn't scoring Roberts was constantly spurring on his fellow strikers. Was a far more valuable player than just for his goal tally.
  14. Anyone watch the game in a pub as the solitary Jags fan? Fairly embarrassing being constantly asked what the competition was and if it was a semi final why wasn't there a bigger crowd. As we were in the lead for most of the time I was talking up the game. Was telling all and sundry that the telly camera was sited in the stand where most of the fans were housed just seconds before the official attendance of 1307 was flashed up on the screen . Very small consolation I know but it really is a Mickey Mouse tournament.
  15. The lads that watched the game with me thought we were set out a bit negatively but when I explained our form this season they appreciated the thinking behind the formation. Compared to our previous form, six straight defeats against Div 1 opposition, a 2-0 away win and 2-2 draw at Dingwall is a vast improvement. I just hope McCall can sell the last two games as a positive to motivate the team rather than have them deflated about yesterday's outcome. Anyway I too thought we were a shade the poorer side over the ninety minutes but only marginally. Imo we were the better side in the extra time period. Jaggernaut, there's little point to your last paragraph. Whilst it's stating the obvious, there's countless ifs and buts that we can site that have cost or earned the team far more money. Turn it the other way around, nobody lauds Paul Ritchie, possibly one of the most hapless centre forwards we've ever had, or Sean Kilgannon, a player who could only dream of aspiring to mediocrity. But for these two scoring a couple of penalties a few years back we might be a part time outfit, at best unable to get out of the 2nd Division. There's plenty valid criticism that can be applied in general to Halliwell & Buchanan but putting a value on a couple of individual mistakes is unfair. Otherwise you should really look back and remember Mssrs Ritchie & Kilgannon with fond affection.
  16. I'd appreciate this post being considered in tandem with Steven H's (post 3). Do you believe that the Jags Trust should be the centre of and driving force behind most if not all Club fundraising? If yes how do you square it between handing proceeds of fundraising direct to the Club, which many JT members and those donating may wish, as opposed to withholding monies, say to purchase shares or perhaps for some ringfenced purpose, that other members and those donating might prefer?
  17. I'm sick to my back teeth of reading posts about what's wrong with the Jags Trust from folk that are either non or ex-members. If they were to break out and spend a tenner or fiver to join or re-join the Trust and then tell us what's wrong they might just find their opinions getting a bit more respect. After all it's only joining a feckin' fans association not enlisting in some sort of groundbreaking lifestyle change. As far as I'm aware the Jags Trust is the only non regionalised Jags fans association. If it's that unsuitable why not form another association? Evidently we've somewhere in the region of between 350-550 fans who're willing to join our only fans association. There's no other pressure group in Jaggydom so in effect all opposition to the way the Club has and is been run carries the weight of as low as 350 fans. Oh, that and a few sniping from outside.
  18. Think you need urgent treatment, mate. If you've been following the Jags since '72 and you're going to walk cos we got beaten on penalties away from home against a team further up the league than us then........ sorry I've run out of words. For a moment I thought yours was a serious post.
  19. If Dundee sell Harkins when in administration will we not get our full entitlement? It wouldn't be their money in the first place so surely would not come under the terms of their CVA. Plus they'd be incurring a football debt, which is frowned on by the authorities. I hope whoever the mystery person at our Club in charge of liaising with the SFA/SFL is on the ball.
  20. I've missed the last couple of games so not too sure of who should start. Of all the youngsters Jamie Campbell looks most like he could do a turn. I wouldn't necessarily start him but he could do some damage running at a tired defence especially with extra time a possibility.
  21. Thanks for the info and the good luck message. You might want to e mail this and any further info to Gerry Britton at [email protected]. Gerry oversees our youth development.
  22. Probably not but may well have been with us by now if Dundee had gone into admin a few months back. I'd imagine the guy is a fairly good assistant manager/coach. On another matter, and again there's no money to fund this, but I'd like to see Billy Dodds working with the forwards. Sad to say but it wouldn't require much dosh to have him come in a couple of training days. Probably suit him too as it wouldn't get in the way of his media work at the BBC. edit to add, I await a McKennan diatribe about ex fitba players spouting nonsense on the Beeb
