  1. In their eyes it was a job well done...they saved their only sponsorship deal. Admittedly they were happy to screw over the majority of their members but hey the ugly sisters are happy. The only change I can see coming is a strengthening of the power vested in the premier league at the expense of all other leagues
  2. Think the part time thing is a bit of a red herring here. While there is more risk for p/t players catching Covid if they are working outside football , if a regular testing regime was in place positive tests would be picked up and the players told to isolate. The potential risk is several players in the same team test positive and games need to be postponed. Think only Clyde had to postponed league game to date.
  3. Agree LIB. Can see another rerun of last season with it finishing in November. As to the league season. I wonder how much, if any lobbying was done by the SPFL about to restart the diddy leagues?
  4. His discipline was poor. He was always up in front of the beaks
  5. Geese a break from all these bad puns guys
  6. I'd imagine that there will be a campaign to encourage postal votes and IIRC there has been some discussions about holding the election over two days. With the correct protocols in place there's no reason the election in Scotland, or the local elections in England on the same day for that matter shouldn't go ahead.
  7. Yeah split it among the teams that have been playing.....in the premier and championship....feck the diddy teams
  8. Agree LIB. If we didn't know before we are basically irrelevant to the SPFL and I suspect the SFA. A reduction of senior clubs will suit both as there's fewer clubs to share whatever money comes in. If clubs can survive with no financial support from SFA/SPFL they will be fine but those in the middle will struggle.
  9. I wonder exactly how hard the SPFL/SFA lobbied for a return. SG 'So do you think the wee diddy clubs should restart?' SPFL 'No bothered as long as you let the big teams keep going'
  10. All about protecting the sky £££. I'm sure SPFL have been lobbying hard to keep going as they need the TV money to stop clubs going bust. When they mean protect their cartel and feck the 'wee diddy' clubs.
  11. TBH much as I'd like to be able to go to a game looking at the weather today (blowing a gale and can't make its mind up to rain or snow) the thought of a 100 mile round trip to firhill isn't exactly appealing regardless of the quality or otherwise on the pitch.
  12. Replacement for Ben Davies who is off to Liverpool?
  13. Feels to me that the SFA/SPFL are happy to say lower leagues can't restart because of Government restrictions. If lower league clubs are prepared to carry out tests as the Premier and Championship teams are doing why are they not allowed to resume? To me it makes no difference if a player is full time or part time if the testing regime is identical. It may be a part time player is more exposed to the virus through his other job. That leads to the potential risk that some part time teams may be unable to fulfill fixtures. If I remember correctly the SPFL said failing to complete the season could lead to sanctions. Bound to make shutting down the lower league seasons more attractive to some clubs....The cynic in me says the SPFL will be delighted if some clubs ask for the season to be declared null and void.
  14. Struggling to find any detail on the proposals. Assume testing will be the same as Premier and championship teams are doing but anyone got any info on date to restart training, possibility of extending the transfer window, when league and cup games will restart or extending the season beyond the beginning of May?
  15. No different than the Premier leagues in Scotland or England. All driven by the desire not to lose millions of pounds of TV money. First thought is 'we must play these games otherwise we lose TV money' 2nd thought 'what do we need to do to to get the games on?'
  16. Spot on 1976-77 season. The team photo was in Shoot! If I knew how to add a decent image of it.
  17. Raith Rovers due to Covid Dungee pitch is waterlogged
  18. As long as Doncaster keeps looking after the Premier league clubs the other leagues don't matter. A decision to null and void the Championship and below protects the Premier league cartel (and incidentally saves Brechin City from relegation to the Highland league (or Lowland league if they get their way) for the 2nd season in a row). ETA it would piss Hearts off mightily, one of the teams that had the balls to stand up to him last season
  19. Poor Sellik can't be punished, don't you know that they have been hit harder by Covid than any other club? It must be true, Lawell said so
  20. More and more it sounds that diddy clubs are no longer an irrelevance but are an irritation to Duncaster and his pals. Expect another breakaway league announced to 'protect' Scottish football by concentrating power and money amongst fewer clubs leaving other clubs to scrabble around for crumbs falling from their table.
  21. Any competent governing body would at the very least discussed the suspension of games and proposed a credible exit from the suspension, (completing an 18 game league followed by playoffs was mentioned elsewhere). Completing a 27 game programme and playoffs alongside Scottish Cup games by early/mid May seems at best extremely doubtful. Fortunately the SPFL only need concern themselves about fulfilling a 38 game Premier league season. On another note Lawell's apology for the Dubai jaunt appears to be purely aimed at the green hoards not the football authorities or SG.
