  1. So tell me. Last time I looked at the official club history I could`nt find it. Next to the player`s name, appearances and goals where does it mention character defects and previous convictions?
  2. Sorry, don`t buy it. Never met the guy on a social or professional level but the guy was an average goalkeeper at best. Might be the nicest chap in the world but the fact we`re still discussing him so many years after he left the club suggests to me he had his own little fan club and for reasons which have always escaped me. The fact that someone thinks he might be a club legend (see above) would seem to reinforce this. I feel as though I`ve kicked a puppy or something given your`re highlighted paragraph
  3. Don`t care what people do off the pitch. For me the only consideration is what the do or don`t do in a Thistle jersey. Anything else is a matter between them and the relevant authorities.
  4. Never understood the regard and affection this guy had at Firhill. I was and still am bemused by all this `king kenny` stuff for what was never more than a very average goalkeeper
  5. OK, I might have got that one a tad wrong.
  6. I`m a bit confused about what your point is. I send money to Firhill each month through the Centenary Fund and other contributions. What possible relevance does that have with spending time and money in actualy attending matches? Second point, don`t you see a hint of desperation in the contributions from posters such as yourself in trying to talk up the signing of an old man who has played only a couple of games in over a year. Tell me, is this an exciting signing for you? Is this really the best that we as a club can afford/expect? If we have as little money as people like yourself repeat ad nauseum then is the manager`s mate really the best person to spend it on? Could`nt we put his wages towards a real football player........one of those the manager says we won`t be signing Given my initial point you probably don`t read much past the opening line so I`ll remind you, read point 2.
  7. How many is `most` when our average attendance gets nearer to 2,000. I`d say given the fall in attendances that `most` don`t agree with your premise and have found better things to do on matchdays.
  8. Think I`m entitled to feel aggrieved about all the money I send them each month being wasted on signings like this though. And as for boyctt, never mentioned. What I did say was that I had better things to do with my time and money than watch a team and management seemingly happy to settle for mid table mediocrity. Given our current squad and our intended signings this to me is the only possible ambition the board have for the club.
  9. Even if McCann was on very little each week it`s still money that could be put towards the wage of a real player. One that was`nt his age, one that had`nt retired two years ago to concentrate on his media job, one that was`nt part of some old pals act and one that was`nt signed just to get the club`s name in the press. Seriously, have we fallen so much that we can even consider this nonsense?
  10. Whilst we`re asking questions here`s some.......between Partick Thistle and Ross County fans, who will be the more optimistic and excited about the coming season? When did Ross County fans start supporting a bigger club than us? (The bookies are fairly sure they`ll finish above us.) Will the signing of a couple of journeymen pros bankrupt the Dingwall club or is not a lot of money involved?
  11. Who mentioned `big` signings? One signing that most of us would agree would enhance the squad will do in the current climate. It`s a worse place out there for professional footballers (at our level) than it is for most and deals can be done. The important thing is employment. Everyone accepts we`re skint.....we`ve had this stuck down our throat for some time now, but surely our combined directorship can come up with the money for one player who might brighten up things a bit. In answer to your last point, for me it would be a striker but a big club (Ross County) beat us to McMenamin and he`d have been my choice. A serious question for you, how many extra season tickets will be sold on the basis of signings to date? (inc proposed signings).
  12. All good but tell me, what impact will the signing of a st Johnstone reserve full back and the possible signings of a Montrose player and/or a 36 year old (who has been in virtual retirement for some time) have on season ticket sales? Or do we only sell to the committed?
  13. It`s a point of view but I don`t see how a cycle of diminishing income can help with your wishes.
  14. The only announcement that disgruntled adults are looking for is that the club have signed players of sufficient quality to allow us to mount some sort of league challenge. If the club insist that this cannot be achieved because of financial restraints then they and those on the forum who defend this position cannot make serious comment on the level of season ticket sales or weekly attendances
  15. So don`t complain when season ticket sales continue to fall and our attendances stagnate. Realism is all very well but it`s not much of a sales pitch at a time of financial difficulties and ever increasing competition from other forms of entertainment.
  16. Do hope so. The place is a millstone round our neck. A nice well thought out modern stadium in the North of the city would do the club and the support the world of good. There is little real argument in favour of Firhill apart from sentiment and nostalgia.
  17. Typical of the man and his standards I`d have thought
  18. No thoughts about Davies, apparently his board are pretty poisonous, but anything that inconveniences the traitor McLeish is always worthy of celebration
  19. Can`t find the handiap list yet but I`ve a feeling that a wager on Ross County could be the bet of the pre season.
  20. You`re missing the point. Their role in the club`s downward slide and current financial plight are an entire irrelevance. The relevant point is that these characters were deemed as stewards of the club and given shares as such as a gesture to show that the club`s future was in safe hands. Everyone assumed that if and when they moved on the shares would be passed to the successors. Now that human nature and greed have made this impossible you are suggesting that we put an actual price on these shares (other than the nominal face value)thus opening a market for these creatures. This has nothing to do with blame for the past. As soon as the shares are restored to the club I`ll spend more than a few bob but until then not a penny.
  21. Understand where you`re coming from but disagree. Whilst those supposed guardians of the club hold onto the shares they were given as stewards, the club cannot realistically profit by a share issue or the sale of existing shares.
  22. It ends when season ticket sales and match day attendances increase to a level where the income is sufficient to sustain the club without further financial inmput. It ends when the board give the support something to look forward to other than `survival`. I take on board evrything that LIB says but irrespective of other factors one of the most important tasks for these directors should be to engender a sense of optimism. Our club have been talked down for so long that this is a difficult, almost impossible task. It`s easy for those on this forum to forget that the most important thing to bring supporters back to Firhill is an entertaining and successful product. Everything else (prices, facilities etc) whilst important are secondary to this. Most contributors on here will be at every game given geographical and financial restrictions but we are very much in a minority, a minority which gets smaller by the season.
  23. And yet some wonder why our attendances are in freefall.
  24. Hey, two wee lines appeared under the word pipe. How cool is that? Wonder if any other words get wee lines?
