  1. The chances of such a streak occurring at random are over 1 in 30,000.
  2. The BBC Scotland Sport website is dire as well. Currently eight of the top eleven Scottish football stories on their site are about either Hearts or Rangers. Open All Mics may have it's flaws but for me it's better than the alternatives so I'll stick with it.
  3. I suppose it doesn't count as a media interview but his half time interview at the Killie game was hilariously awful thanks to his one word passionless answers. A legitimate highlight of the season for me.
  4. I went up to Inverness last night to take in the game. St Mirren are truly awful, I feel ashamed having lost to them. ICT on the other hand looked very much like a team near the top of the league, great movement and passing although the static defending probably made them look a bit better than they were. I don't have too much fear in me for the next round though as their finishing was dreadful last night. A bit of a strange thing to say after watching them win 4-0 but it should have been six at the least.
  5. As things stand we'd qualify as the best third place team. Interesting to note that despite looking the toughest group on paper, Poland, Georgia and Gibraltar were all the lowest ranked teams in their pots whilst Ireland were the second lowest ranked team in their pot, so UEFA have it as the weakest group. Ranieri has Greece bottom of their group after losing 1-0 at home to the Faroes. Ten years ago Greece were champions of Europe and we were the team with horrid results against minnows. How things change.
  6. Ukraine is a big country, Lviv is fine. Not going would be like avoiding Edinburgh during the Northern Irish troubles.
  7. I don't expect to get anything from Aberdeen but I think we're in with a decent shout. They've scored one more and let in one less over the season so far. It took them an hour to find their feet against Ross County on Monday. After the break we should have Fraser and Higgy starting and it sounds as if Frans-Seaborne is starting to reap rewards. Aberdeen will be favourites but as a team you've got to go into every game with the attitude that you can win. All that is not to say that I don't think McDaid is worth a run out, more an (optimistic) appraisal of our chances against Aberdeen.
  8. "It was Thistle's third substitution, though, which paid off immediately in the 75th minute. Declan McDaid had just come on for Lawless and his first run down the right wing ended with a cross low cross into the Saints box. As the ball was played out to Elliot at the edge of the box he seemed to stumble before sending a low shot skimming under Kello's body for the all-important winning goal." Nice to see McDaid doing well.
  9. I've not seen enough games to comment, but we've got a zero goal difference, that was good enough for top six last season. Even with a loss today we're at a point a game which is good enough for survival. I don't think we're at the panic button stage quite yet. I know all teams have their injury problems but Higginbotham and Fraser have been big misses, if the problem is lethargy with the team, surely the return of those two to full fitness is a solution in the wings.
  10. Big trouble? There's another 78 points up for grabs after today.
  11. I agree with a lot of your points, especially that lack of people complaining about the quick second goal. However, statistically, the longer a game goes on the more likely a goal is to be scored. However, going by someone's earlier post (on another thread perhaps?) we've dropped 16 league points to second half injury time goals since regaining top flight status. That's 16.5% of all our points dropped in roughly 3.5% of the game time (going on 95min matches with 3.5min second half injury time). So 4.7 times more frequent than you would expect.
  12. It's been proven that in American Football it's best not to punt on a fourth down. Many top NFL coaches understand this and know going for the yards is the smart play in the long run but still punt. Why? Because they know that if it doesn't work out the fans will give them shit for it and call for their head. I'm not saying that's the case in this instance, but a lot of the time sticking by conventional wisdom is the best way to keep your job rather than sticking your neck out trying to do things differently.
  13. Exactly, if the appeal works then great. If it doesn't, then when Banzo does have to sit out Fraser and Welsh should be back. A smart move by the club.
  14. It is amazing. If you split the second half into nine five minute chunks, the first five minutes have the least goals scored. The 80-85 minute section is the most productive.
  15. It was quite relevant to the topic at hand, or were there simply not enough puns in it?
  16. Braehead's capacity for hockey is under 3000. Their average last season was 2509. I sincerely hope PTFC don't go down the route of British Ice Hockey. Braehead's losses are offset by Nottingham's profits as they both have the same owner (yup, two clubs in the same league owned by the same person). In fact Nottingham are about the only top tier team to avoid some sort of existential crisis in the last ten years. The finances and governance are truly appaling in British hockey.
  17. On the way to the Camanachd Cup Final on Saturday there were a fair few Motherwell fans on the train. One of them claimed to be McFadden's cousin and said he thought it was likely he'd sign with us. Not the most iron clad of sources but I thought I'd throw it in seeing we're on the subject. Interestingly he also said that Higgy didn't like Motherwell because after being promised he'd feature in every game was then dropped when McFadden signed a month later.
  18. You probably should have, they knocked Motherwell out of Europe last season then drew home and away with Swansea. They've a budget of $40m a season and are often the best supported club in Russia.
  19. I think that makes Archie the second longest serving manager in the Premiership.
  20. No, they were talent show winners on a downward spiral without any serious injuries.
  21. Whilst ITV went out of their way to refer to the Ivory Coast as Cote d'Ivoire, the Netherlands are frequently being referred to as Holland. An offence as egregious as saying "England" instead of "The UK".
  22. I've just crunched the numbers and we have the second least travelling in the Premiership this season before the split. Hamilton have the least.
  23. I thought he was the worst yet. He felt the need to remind us every five minutes that Ivory Coast is in Africa but I'm still waiting to hear which continent Japan is in.
  24. I've seen a few games over in Mexico and they use it there as well, Argentina too. Apparently it's set for use in the Champions' League next season.
