  1. I've got no idea how good the top of the first is this season but given our current form and the fact that being in the play offs means we have another 4 months of even worse form ahead I wouldn't want to be playing against any of them. Would be a good day out though
  2. Yes we do. They encourage hatred and division among people throughout the country. The city the vast majority of people on this forum live in would be a much better place without them. If the EDL or BNP were up on a tax case should people not be reminded what they stand for every single time the topic is discussed? Or would you say "we all know they have racists but do we need reminded every time any of them are mentioned?
  3. Fox SOD - Muirhead - Piccalo - ATS Fraser - Bannigan Lawless - Higginbotham Doolan - Taylor I'm not playing this Ozzy game, I've never thought Welsh was as good as everyone else does, Taylor leading the line and Doolan buzzing about him on either side,
  4. The second half yesterday goes beyond Osbourne/Welsh/Banngan not being there. When Doolan came on we were playing some sort of 7-1-2 at times with insane gaps between the back line (which Muirhead forgot he was not part of more and more in the second half) and whoever was kicking around 20 yards up the park. From about a minute after we got the third it was clear we needed to change tactics to stop the inevitable. We didn't do that.
  5. Elliot has never been up to it ability wise since he came here but he's managed to make a useful squad player of himself even in the SPL. Based on that and the way he was in the Star last season the guy is clearly a sound professional determined to make the most of his lack of natural ability with the ball. He deserves credit for that at least. I still think his directness and pace has a place coming off the bench, notably against Celtic at Firhill when he made some great runs inside with the ball as they tired.
  6. I wonder how much of his wages are being paid by Kenny Roger's Roasters via Vincent Tan (Out)? This guy isn't on the scrapheap at Cardiff and is some coup by County.
  7. Dropping a keeper takes balls. But Gallagher is a wise old head, a good goalie and I immeditately respect any keeper who takes pelters on the chin and gives a wee bit back which Gallagher has always done. As stated above it worked for Hart at Man City, Man Utd (De Gea), Arsenal (Sczesny) and Chelsea (Cech) have all dropped their main keepers for spells in recent seasons and they've all come back strongly. In fact you can't see any of them being replaced any time soon. I've convinced myself. Gallagher in.
  8. I missed all the games between Boxing Day and yesterday, surprised to see how the attitude towards SOD has changed in that short period, a lot of people on his back yesterday. I thought he played fairly well yesterday, I take it he was a mess in most/all of the last 3 games? Has there not always been chat of putting McMillan in as defensive midfielder allowing Aero and Gabby to work the back line? I'm sure he has played there a couple of times but could be wrong. Top of my drop list is Balatoni. I wouldn't start Elliot either. Jury out on playing Fox for me, dropping a keeper is a pretty bold move for any manager. Although history suggests he has the right attitude so maybe less of an issue with him.
  9. Balatoni is nowhere near good enough for the SPL. Picallo is improving but whoever partners Conrad needs to cover for his slowness, inability to read the game and his new found terribleness at headers. His miss with a free header was utterly criminal, it was right in front of me, he had acres of space, had the ball delivered exactly where he wanted it and anything on target was in the back of the net. Craigen isn't a defensive midfielder and neither is Muirhead so it's a bit harsh to have too much of a go at them for yesterday. Elliot does have a place as a sub but it seems daft not to fit Taylor, Doolan, Higginbotham and Lawless (who is finally becoming an SPL player) into the same side, particularly at home. As soon as we went 2 up we sat back and launched the ball forward allowing County to come onto us while gradually losing our shape more and more as the game went on. That was never going to work, you can't play the last 35 minutes like it's the last 5. Lyle Taylor gives me the belief we will finish above the play-offs. Just.
  10. We don't want to see Filip Kiss starting for County, their fans on P&B don't think he will as he only just arrived. This guy should be able to carve out a career at a half decent (English) Championship team from what I remember of his time at Cardiff. I'd be weary of him with Osbourne and co in there, let alone what we are likely to end up with tomorrow.
  11. McNamara has probably done Thistle his first good turn since he left by signing him on loan. We don't need Taylor and Farid and we sure as hell didn't want any of the teams in the bottom half of the table getting him until the end of the season.
  12. Very good point. With a full stadium every home game and a season ticket waiting list as long as Garscube Road there is asbolutely no reason for us to encourage supporters to go more often, credit to the club for putting them off.
  13. The new deal is "awright" for Thistle fans (still pish for Saints). Think before making announcements next time. Oh and every football fan commuting to work this morning who picked up a Metro will have thought "that's pretty decent" when reading the paragraph bigging up the Albion Rovers £1 deal. Where as Thistle fans think their own club are taking the piss and St Johnstone fans now have the perfect excuse not to bother with Firhill the next time, or the time after that, or the time...
  14. Who said anything about "over zealous"?
  15. They did that at Easter Road as well, loads down the front staring up, a big huddle of them in the corner to our left and a few dotted up the unused bit of the otherwise empty stand. It's needless, costly and ruins the atmosphere. Got to hope this smoke bomb craze never catches on with us otherwise we'll all be getting stopped and searched out our nut.
  16. The idea that Season Ticket holders should pay anything is absolute garbage. The idea that PATG fans (including away fans) need to pay £12 is absolute garbage. This isn't an issue that should be dividing the support. The real question is who is making all of these unprofessional decisions at the club, why are they being allowed to make unprofessional decisions on a regular basis and ultimately what is being done about it. If people insist on calling football a business then we are customers and the past 8 months at Firhill could be used by any other business as a guide of how not to do customer service. An embarassingly low crowd seems inevitable and frankly it's what the club deserve.
  17. This doesn't merit it's own thread but what was the police presence like in the away stand at Tynecastle? Easter Road had multiple times what you'd normally expect due to 'intelligence' and it was pretty shady in the first half, nobody likes to watch a game of football like that (in fairness they were sound as when asked what the deal was at half time).
  18. The split? Surely St Johnstone can't be expected to play a top 6 team once that's happened
  19. If we put the couple of hundred Saints in the JHS and close the Main Stand how much does it cost to have the floodlights on for 3 hours and a skeleton police/stewarding presence (lowest league gate of the season inevitable)? Almost every non ST holder who goes to that game is going to feel ripped off by the club, its the pay at the gate fans who we need to encourage to come back more often, maybe by a ST next season, etc. This won't help. And if it was an away game and the home team did this to us I wouldn't be going to the re-arranged game and the club in question would be moving right up my priority list of away games to miss in future.
  20. It's hardly the end of the world but it's just another sign of whoeever is in charge of this not having a clue about our support. When was the last time we took 400 to an away game on a weekend afternoon? How many Thistle fans have expressed here and elsewhere that the best thing about the SPL would be Edinburgh away games? When was the last time we played at Tynecastle and how many did we take? How many did we have at Easter Road a few weeks ago? Given the low number of tickets, the lack of public transport, the restricted view and who we were playing on the 1st was it not obvious this would be the big away crowd over the festive period?
  21. I can't go, really expect us to get our first home win of the season, The performance against ICT was a step up from the past couple of months.
  22. Bought a copy in the Star and was given issue 2 as a Christmas freebie. It's a bit mental and a bit retro but a good read, will buy again.
