Cappielow is the only ground in Scotland you can't get a pie...

Our regular goalkeeper and all of the defence except Sinclair have come in for some stick this season, but we have the second tightest defence in the league, conceding only one goal per league game on average. We have also only lost two league goals in the last five league matches, or 3 goals in seven games overall (and one of those was a corker). We must be doing something right...

I thought we done ok last night in really shocking conditions, although the lack of a cutting edge is very worrying. With a high wind and fast pitch, we should have been having a few pops from the edge of the box. On the whole, last night wasn't a night to judge any player in either team. Plus points - Fox has looked the Fox of old since he came back into the team; Paton did well in the holding role (and at CB on Saturday); the defence is looking tight; and Dools was quite sharp when he came on. Big Negative - we haven't scored a goal from open play in the last four league games, although we have only lost one goal (and that was a top strike). Only one defeat in the last seven and four on the road unbeaten...but we need to start turning some of these draws into wins.

I have read through the above points with an open mind, but I it is disappointing to see Jags fans having a go at the club and each other. Saturday was a dreadful result for us, of that there is no doubt...but we are starting to sound like a bunch of Rangers fans with our belief in a God given right to win ties like this. We should be hammering teams like Culter but football doesn't always work like that, it's what makes it a great sport. Bookies would hate it if it did. Let's face it, if Alcorcon can hammer Real Madrid over two legs or Exeter, when they were in the conference, can go to Old Trafford and get a replay, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that Culter could get a draw with Partick Thistle. As a Jags fan, every great moment is usually offset by about ten shockers! While we generally moan about it and have a good grumble, we are usually reasonable minded people, but there is some real bile flying about on this forum. The players didn't turn up on Saturday and fully deserve to be criticised, but some of us need to remember it's only a game! I for one applaud Culter - they fought hard and deserved their replay and I look forward to welcoming them to Firhll this Saturday. As for Thistle, if we beat Culter and win the next two matches (which knowing Thistle we could), all of a sudden most folk will be full of the joys of spring again. Come on folks, please, let's get behind the team!! Stephen

Dundee Fan's Tear Stained E-Mail To The Sfa
Stephen1876 replied to Tom Stronach's topic in Main Jags forum
Added to that: 1) A couple of years back, we were denied a stonewall penalty in injury time in a match they were winning 1-0 (Ryan Conroy was tripped in the box). 2) Last season, Willie Kinniburgh was sent off and a pen awarded even though the foul was outside the box and we had a covering player. 3) and of course diving Nicky... I am genuinely not sure of the penalty on Saturday but it also didn't all go our way. Rae should have walked for his slap on Erskine - it was gentle but you raise your hands and your off. Weston should also have walked for his revenge lunge on Elliot (although they should have had a free kick seconds earlier). I even used to respect Dundee as a well supported club but I now equally detest them! -
We must be the first team in history to play Spartans and Blyth Spartans in the same season. We should organise a friendly against Sparta Rotterdam

As much as I don't love them, Livi have also produced good youth players, they have just been so badly managed (at board level) that they haven't taken advantage of it. In the last five years, they have produced Dorrans, Snodgrass, McPake, Rat Boy, Dave MacKay and Andy Halliday...and they have a couple of promising players at the moment.

Confirmed on the OS

Can see what you are saying, but providing we beat Liechtenstein and lose to Spain, we will only have finished one point better off than we did in our last campaign, in a group which was at least of an equal standard.

Nothing of the sort - I was merely responding to your comment that he might not have had "any other offers", which is patently incorrect as he had a contract offer on the table from Thistle, so he had at least two offers. He may well have made the right move, I am just refuting the point that he had no choice And to answer your question, it would depend on the circumstances - sometimes it is better to stay and gamble that it will work out for you and sometimes it isn't. I have done this with a job before and it did work out for me, so it's not too radical a concept.

He was offered a deal with Thistle and, if he had taken the long-view, would have gotten another season of guarenteed first-team football under his belt, which would perhaps have encouraged some of the supposedly bigger clubs looking at him to take a risk and sign him.

Added to that, Tuffey has been dropped from the Northern Ireland squad in favour of unattached 42 year old Maik Taylor! He really is at a make or break stage in his career. He needs to tell Butcher that he needs games or is moving on. He could easily go from being a superb young prospect to a jobbing lower league keeper, which is a shame because he is very talented. I still can't understand why he went to ICT - Esson had just had a superb first season and was never going to lose his place unless he went downhill big style. As for Liam, I liked him at Firhill but I am not surprised he has not featured for Dunfermline - injury robbed him of a good career. Hopefully it comes good for Paddy but it's a long way back from not even being in the squad - he has done it once and hopefully he can do it again! The irony for us is that, in losing our best players, we have went on to sign better value / realise the value of their replacements - Saturday aside, I think Fox is a better all-round keeper than Tuffey, Doolan has easily replaced Liam and Sinclair could be the steal of the season! Johnny Lindsay looks solid too!

Also Graham Bayne, Ryan Conroy and Stevie Milne. But they have lost Higgins, Harkins and Forsyth. Taken with Griffiths, that's most of their goals. Make no mistake though, they will be up there!

And he could throw his £800 million fortune built from nothing back in their face. Like him or loathe him, he is first class businessman who has worked up from nothing to be a huge success across a wide range of industries. He was stitched up by the football mafia at Spurs and came back fighting. Give me a tough, straight speaking and astute Chairman like that any day!
-
I'm not sure he would give up his Rolls Royce Phantom for a Citroen C3!
-
We could even just approach his people and ask him along to Firhill for a game, it would be a good PR coup for the club! He may even become a Gold Centenary Fund Member

I have a horrible feeling it will be Clyde away!

We are seeded so please can we get an exciting away trip!

We finished 6th and got £3,750. Queens Park's small band of fans must drink some amount of Bru http://www.scottishfootballleague.com/news/article/irn-bru-sfl-end-of-season-awards-dinner-201011/ Great website the SFL have got

At the start of this season, I knew that we had less money and resources than other teams and I expected a tough year. My target was to finish 6th or 7th and see a few young players emerge. At 3.45 on 7th August 2010, I thought that objective was well and truly blown. Shocking defeats at Cowdenbeath and Stirling didn't help dispel my negative thoughts. But here we are in May 2011 with a 5th placed finished and 5 of our youth team on the pitch at the final whistle, coupled with another unused YOUNG sub on the bench. We also have the division's top scorer, the division's best keeper and some good players signed up for next year. Perhaps most importantly, we have taken many of our cost cutting measures this season and have started developing our own young team. Dundee, QoS, Falkirk etc will all have that reality to adapt to next season. A job well done I say - WELL DONE JAGS!

Big tough lad and all that but I genuinely had tears in both eyes today when Rowser skelped that shot into the top corner - no one could have scripted that! Rowser is turning into a real legend and has been a great player again this season. All the best getting through this hard time David and hope to see you in the red and yellow next year!

QoS are going down the tubes in every resepect

Here here, I've been calling for a British League Cup for years in place of the two independent league vups, but I understand the scepticism as I can't see it happening.

Also well done to the Raith fans - four separate folk said to me on the way back "Well done, you guys played well and fully deserved to win, good luck for the rest of the season". Good to see their fans being so gracious when we have just dealt their title hopes a blow. Good luck to them!
