  1. What’s the point in having an Academy then if we’re just developing other teams players, if we even did get promotion, the chances are the loanees won’t be there and we would have to rebuild again. The template for a successful Academy should be good coaching to ensure a pathway to the First Team . As a Club we have failed miserably with the Academy ,other teams like Hibs , Hearts , Motherwell , Hamilton etc have done well financially by developing players and selling them on. Are our coaches not good enough to do this ?
  2. Was at the game yesterday, biggest thing that McCall hasn’t addressed is the total lack of pace or creativity in the team . Unless that changes it’s going to be a long season
  3. Why should that make a difference whether we got a fee or not ( he was at Firhill for 10 years ) He’s been at QOS for roughly a season and is out of contract
  4. Totally sounds ridiculous as he was at Firhill since he was 8 yrs of age until he left for Norwich.
  5. Seemingly the searing pace of 38yr old Chris Burke is on his way to Firhill !
  6. Absolute nonsense, that’s why he’s back at Firhill with Archie as one of his coaches !
  7. What a lot of nonsense people talk in this forum , a football team is no different from any other business/ team and is made up of different characters . Stevie’s flaws have been well documented ( gambling ) but that shouldn’t lead to a character assassination against him. If Stevie Lawless gets the right players round about him and he replicates his Livi form with goals and assists, he’ll be a huge asset for us .
  8. Wow, if that’s the best you can come up with going back 13 yrs ago I rest my case . If by any small chance we had got promoted, we would have came straight back down again with the team we’ve got just now . IMO we shouldn’t have to be rebuilding year on year , McCalls’s signings just haven’t cut it , Blair Lyons , Conor Murray, Cammy Smith , McIvor etc We should be developing our own and building for the future, looks like McCall is going back down the Aaron Muirhead and Christie Elliott route yet again , these maybe only short term fixes but they won’t last in the long term for PTFC
  9. Still the case , the others can debate it I’m sure you could start the debate , probably start with all the young talent we’ve brought through over the last 2 and 1/2 years .
  10. I’m sure it must be costing us a fortune on the retail side , no real push to sell strips etc on Match Days . Ridiculous size of Club Shop with limited stock No idea how to run a commercial outlet and it’s obviously been passed on to Greaves Sports who quite rightly will be taking their cut and diminishing profits to PTFC
  11. Totally agree with you , no point in the Academy if we’re not going to utilise is properly. Not sure if McCall and his coaches are good enough to develop young talent? We’ve got to develop our Club , have some sort of foresight or template for the future. Is Ian McCall the right man for the job ? , debatable after the last 2 and 1/2 years . It doesn’t look as if the foundations are even there after that length of time and still spouting nonsense about us having the strongest midfield in the League.
  12. Think Sean’s contract was up and we didn’t offer him another one , he had been injured for a lot of the time and there was also some sort of blood disorder going on as well . Would take him back now though .
  13. Should McCall not know his preferred style of play 30 months down the line ? You’re absolutely right , I think McCall wasn’t even sure of his best team right up until the end of the season.

Not the only source , but teams like Motherwell have a plan to bring youth through and that’s conveyed to their management team and part of their remit . Your right in terms of terms it can’t just be that , teams like Motherwell have guys like Stephen O’Donnell to help nurture their young players coming through. When Jackie Mac was starting out , there was experienced pros as well , Steven Craig etc At this moment as a Club I’m not really sure what our plan actually is .

I don’t hate McCall , I just think at this moment we’re going nowhere under his tenure. He’s been here almost 3 years now , got us relegated ( rightly or wrongly) , got us promoted although apart from the last 10 or so games in that league it wasn’t great . Looking at that team since December it looks like there is going to be a rebuild again . If you can tell me what kind of team McCall is building I would be interested. Is it a team that play a pressing game , a team that plays on the counter - attack , a team that relies on pace to win games . What system do we play 3 - 5 - 2 or 4-4-1-1 After the amount of transfer windows Ian McCall has had since he started , IMO the stage we should be at is adding a couple of players to complete the jigsaw/ project If you’re honest we’re nowhere that just now .
  16. Agree with your views , but the most worrying thing we haven’t got any style of play . No pressing game as we haven’t got the players for that because they haven’t got the fitness to play that type of game . No wing backs to give us width and create . Only pace in the team is Tiffoney and very little goalscoring threat . Genuinely worried for our Club on and off the park.

He would never have played international football as a full back or went to Dundee United either.

Are you for real , do you think Pates would have got his move to Dundee United and became an international player if Jackie Mac and Sid hadn’t coached him to be a defensive midfielder.

Getting away from the original question, improvement in players , we should be making our young players from the Academy better by coaching them and giving them a pathway to the first team , signing journeymen pros like Cammy Smith or Robbie Crawford surely can’t be our future.

Think you’re being a bit economical with the truth here , Stephen Hendrie was already a million pound player before he came to Firhill when he went to West Ham from Hamilton and only got his chance recently when McCall had ran out of players . Tiffoney had already played Premier League with Livingston and I personally don’t think Zak Rudden had improved from the player I saw playing for Falkirk. You can look at McCall’s signings if you like , Blair Lyons , Connor Murray , Cammy Smith ,Jakubiak , Alegria etc I believe the only template for a Club of our size is to develop our own players and give them a pathway to the first team , that can only be done with good coaching . Re the pitch, it was a factor as was the recruitment in January, but we don’t play at Firhill every week and our form since December has been shocking ( relegation form ) Time for a full reset at Firhill.

And did McCall improve Paton , not a chance Jackie Mac turned him from an overweight average full back into a good holding midfield player .

Not sure about Rudden or the 34yr old Brian Graham. There was glaring obvious improvement to be had in Zak Rudden, had to get stronger to enable him to hold the ball up to play in other players, could have been coached to be able to header a ball . There is potential in Zak Rudden and we’ve definitely missed him since he left but I’m not sure there has been a lot of discernible improvement in Zak from the player who scored a lot of goals for Falkirk .

We shouldn’t be writing off a 21 yr old player , if McCall was anywhere near a good coach his mindset would be to improve players. Open question, if someone can tell me an improved player over the last few years that McCall has coached . Time for a change , if you think of the improvement and influence that Jackie Mac and Simon Donnelly had at our Club when they started ATS , SOD’s , Paul Paton etc . We need a manager/ coach of a similar standing to progress .
