  1. Bannigan will feature more as I doubt Shuggie and Rowson will be permanent fixtures.
  2. Was at the play-off game yesterday. Dumbarton VERY comfortable winners, but unless they strengthen quite a lot ahead of next season they're going to struggle. Airdrie made our defensive performance at Culter look like a masterclass.
  3. The second goal was disgustingly good. They should be taking a DNA sample for testing because no human could seriously do that.
  4. I predicted he'd be the league's top scorer at the start of the season
  5. Have to say Scotstoun is looking quite nice at the moment with the throw up stands "behind the goals" for the big 7s gathering at the weekend even if it is a wee bit lego-land. If it weren't for the needs re the running track during the year it would make a very nice stadium for a small but aspiring Glasgow team without a stadium to call their own making an ambitious foray into the SPL... here's looking at you RFC 2012...
  6. End of Season Review and THREE Manly J Panda interviews, with Milestone Captain Archibald, Hat-trick Hero Cairney and El Gaffer. http://jagscast.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/crowd-of-alan-archibald.html
  7. That second goal is breathtakingly arrogant. Laav it!
  8. I think he said in the Evening Times that he wasn't interested in moving to another SFL club this summer. Whilst that can be construed as "will stay with Thistle" it more likely suggests "going to an SPL team".
  9. 18th November 2006 at Firhill. As fas as I can see not a single hat-trick in any competitions or friendlies since until today.
  10. First Jags hat-trick since Mark Roberts scored a hat-trick when Dick Campbell was manager.
  11. You should know better Jim. I was playing to my Scottish social democratic/socialist audience
  12. Are you seriously suggesting that if Jackie doesn't get us promoted next season he should be sacked? I sometimes wonder what planet people are living on. We lost our sponsor mid-season and had to plug it with an emergency step-in job on most likely far inferior terms. We're losing the Warriors which will cost us £100k plus whatever the cost of looking after the pitch is. Our crowds are down on last season. Jackie is probably going to be given yet another budget cut deeper than those under Margaret Thatcher. If we're even challenging for the title next season it will be because other clubs are making similar cuts to us. And that won't be Jackie's fault.
  13. Good. Next priority has to be extending Cairney's contract if at all possible.
  14. Because we're financially screwed, there's nothing to be gained from disrupting things and for his first full season in management he's not done *that* badly. The Cups have been a disappointment, but not a sackable offence.
  15. I think we're fine with Jackie but people need a slight reality check. He's probably going to get his budget cut *again* next season with the Warriors off. That'll probably leave us to plug a £150-200k gap in terms of the lump payment and pitch maintenance to take over again.
  16. (Note of course that the new mic was only used for the pre-match chat, and not the McGuigan interview, which was done on a Blackberry...)
  17. The latest podcast is up including an exclusive interview with Mark McGuigan on a whole array of topics http://jagscast.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/waith-wovers.html
  18. We need more muscle in midfield. If Paton is not to be played as a rIght (wing) back he absolutely must be played in a more advanced role in midfield. He was poor at right centre-back. Balatoni was poor. O'Donnell didn't have a good game either. The right hand side was paralysed all game by those players having an off day. Bannigan was decent at left-wing back but I'd rather have him in a more advanced role when Sinclair gets back. The midfield is really missing Rowson and was just a bit empty without having enough presence to free up Cairney. Welsh didn't see much of the ball all in all and we only really looked promising when Cairney got involved. Erskine was quiet today which didn't help and once Doolan was off we didn't have anyone leading the charge up-front. McGuigan was okay but didn't have much by way of support or service and Elliot was pretty much anonymous all second half. Edit: Big Col - I know it's not mathematical yet, but for us to be in danger of the play-off spot, Raith Rovers would have to beat Falkirk, Queens and Morton while Ayr would have to beat Hamilton, Dundee and Falkirk AND we'd have to get a mere point from our remaining 3 games. We're safe.
  19. Indeed. Apologies. All the more reason for the Club to draw a line under this "not playing" nonsense. An agreement with the FA that should be terminated. They are a professional football club. Their obligations are to the integrity of the competitions they take part in, not to play whenever they say is convenient for them. Right. Great. There's these things called the Courts and Public Inquiries to serve justice. Not playing on the anniversary does nothing to "clear the name" of anyone who feels scorned by the press reporting of the Hillsborough disaster. It should have absolutely nothing to do with the families of some Liverpool fans from more than a generation ago when the English FA arranges its fixtures.
  20. I think they need to get over it. Was it a horrific tragedy? Yes. Did it cause considerable ongoing emotional pain among the Liverpool fraternity and their families? Yes. Should they be allowed to take steps to commemorate their loss (e.g. minute's silence/applause a wreath/symbolic presentation before the game and/or black armbands)? Yes. Should they be allowed to disrupt an organised fixture-list years after the event? No, absolutely not. Postponements to a conventional fixture-list are justified only where the pitch is unplayable/ground unsafe for fans or in very exceptional circumstances where a Club is hit by the trauma of the death or serious injury to a current player (e.g. a Muamba or Phil O'Donnell situation). If we were really pushing it if a player had strong links to a club who they ceased to play for a short while ago, it might be acceptable for a former club to reach a discretionary agreement with their opponents to postpone a game. But Hillsborough happened thirteen years ago, not last week. Let's get a sense of perspective here.
  21. Last chance to get your question in! Be quick about it.
  22. The Jagscast will be interviewing Mark McGuigan ahead of Saturday's game. Anyone got a question for the new-boy they're itching to get an answer to?
