  1. O'Reilly a doubt and no Chalmers apparently.
  2. The sting of Tuesday's loss has eased so decided to get myself down to Ayr. I'm hoping we can play a bit of football as well as the spirit and endeavour remaining at recent levels. If we can get our noses in front you just never know... C'mon the Jags
  3. So many weird takes on this board. I await... the impending end to discourse. So much discourse is empty rhetoric. Then, that is a football discussion board in a nutshell.
  4. A new Lambie McParlands track has dropped today. I like it, I like it a lot! https://thelambiemcparlands.bandcamp.com/track/king-of-the-garscube-road?fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAae03w3_gc8dow0BsH4mGrHQtC8C2wP7o6K0j5iUwdA2I5ifLCBOzc4afqfX2Q_aem_d7zwvrvLzACD0xMIZuYbVg
  5. 'I'm Peter Pan': Evergreen Graham feeling good about play-offs Brian Graham is eagerly anticipating Thistle's play-off campaign (Image: SNS) Brian Graham insists he has learned from Partick Thistle’s previous play-off pain as he urged the Jags to maintain their momentum heading into tonight’s quarter-final first leg at Firhill. Friday night’s 1-0 win away to Livingston secured a fourth successive top-four finish for the Maryhill club, who came within 20 minutes of sealing promotion to the Premiership two years ago in Dingwall before a late collapse saw Kris Doolan’s side miss out in heartbreaking fashion. Last season’s play-off run ended in Kirkcaldy at the semi-final stage as Raith Rovers triumphed on penalties, and Ayr United await this evening as Thistle aim to make it fourth time lucky. Graham – who is one half of the Jags’ interim management team alongside Mark Wilson – has been a pivotal figure at Firhill over the past few seasons, and his change in role has offered him a fresh perspective this time around. “You go back to the Ross County one - maybe should we have made a sub, should we have went to a back five, all these decisions,” Graham said of the lessons he has learned. “Obviously, I wasn't thinking as a manager then, or as a coach. I was thinking as a player. But now, the shoe’s on the other foot where you're thinking more about the full collective and you're not just thinking about your role on the pitch. “There's a few things I have picked up along the way and I'm looking forward to it. I'm really excited by the challenge. And so are the players, everybody's looking forward to it. You can see the real excitement. “You can see the crowd again. On Friday night, there was a real excitement with them because the belief within the crowd went a little bit after the Dunfermline draw. “But then they've come roaring back, and so have the players. So everyone's together and we're going to need that. We need everybody together to get success. It's as simple as that.” Two defeats and a draw to the Championship’s three lowest-placed sides had left some doubting whether or not Thistle would get into the play-offs whatsoever, but morale-boosting wins over Livingston and Falkirk – the top two teams in the division – has restored the feel-good factor to Firhill. Ayr were defeated 2-0 when the two sides last met back in March, and Graham believes his side have discovered that most precious of all qualities in sport: momentum. “It's massive,” Graham said. “Especially coming off the back of two great victories where you've got that belief and the camaraderie within the squad that everybody's ready to go. “We're just looking forward to it now. We want the game to start. I wish it was tonight. If I'm being honest, it doesn't matter that we played Friday. We're ready to go and we'll see what it brings come quarter to 10 tomorrow night when we see what the score is.” What’s also unclear is just who exactly will be available for selection. A few players came off with scrapes and bruises during Friday’s win at Almondvale, and winger Logan Chalmers is expected to miss out as he recovers from an injury sustained the previous week against Falkirk. Stuart Bannigan – who was sent off during the first half against Falkirk after serving a two-game ban and missed the trip to Livingston – is available once again, but Graham is keeping his cards close to his chest. “There's a few that are touch and go, that's for sure,” the 37-year-old teased. “We are low in numbers. Sean Kelly obviously took a bad hamstring injury [against Livingston]. “We've got a couple of other bumps and bruises. But we'll need to assess and see where we're at. We're 50-50 at the moment. But as you quite well know, I can't give you too much away because I don't want other people to know.” When asked if Bannigan’s disciplinary record was a concern, Graham replied: “No, Stuart Bannigan is Stuart Bannigan. He plays with his heart on his sleeve and he'll go on. I wouldn't want him any other way. That's just the way he is. “He's at an age now, you're not going to change that. He's an experienced player. He's been doing it for a number of years. So then to ask him to try and change his game at this late stage, it's nigh on impossible.” Graham’s primary concern is understandably ensuring that Thistle travel to Somerset Park for Friday night’s second leg with a lead to defend, but he also happens to be closing in on a personal milestone in Maryhill. The centre-forward is just two goals away from reaching a century in red-and-yellow, and he readily admits it seemed an unlikely prospect when he first signed for the club back in January 2020. It’s been an eventful time for the busiest man in Scottish football. “I think sometimes I need to pinch myself,” he said. “What's happened to me over the years at Partick Thistle, coming as a 32-year-old… if somebody was going to say to me that you were going to score near 100 goals, you were then going to go and manage the women's team, take the women's side to the first cup final, getting them to top six in the SWPL 1, to then take interim charge of the men's team, I would have probably laughed at you. “So there's a lot happened over the last number of years, but sometimes I think it was meant to be. My wife actually said that to me when I first joined the club. Once we went into the women's side and we started doing well with the women's side… “Yes, it was a massive pay cut to come back down the road [from Ross County], but it's not about money and that's what the wife said. It's not about money, but this looks like it was meant to be and hopefully it pans out that way.” A play-off run that ends in promotion would be the stuff of dreams for Graham. But don’t you dare call it a fairytale ending. “I've not changed anything,” Graham says of his sizable workload and advancing years. “I'm 38 this year in November and I keep telling you I'm Peter Pan. I'll keep going as if I'm Peter Pan and you just never know how long you can go.” There’s a twinkle in the player/manager’s eye. “I guess that's Peter Pan on the pitch - but I'm Captain Hook on the side!”
  6. They are only offering refundable hospitality tickets which seems a good idea on a business sense. I would ask why our business team aren't doing likewise?
  7. Not even a coloured circle, let alone a poll. Tinpot 😉😆
  8. Time for the Blair witch project 2...
  9. I feel we will go with the usual strategy seen under G & W, look to be competitive then try and break forward to snatch a goal them adjust again depending on how the opposition react. Livingston have had some great results recently and I will be in no doubt Martindale will have the pitch heavily watered come kick-off time. If we can stay organised and win the individual battles and keep things tight we can go at them second-half. I'm worried about the midfield though as despite his red card Banzo is still our best player in the #6 or deep lying role. Probably looking at Kyle Turner, Stanway and Bobby Biscuits doing his running thing in the middle of the park. Exclusive Prediction - Livingston 0 Partick Thistle 1 (Crawford)...
  10. Nothing directly beneficial for us diddy teams will ever be achieved thanks to the sellout to a 11/1 casting vote for reconstruction and other major changes. Suits 2 teams only and we know who they are...
  11. I thought the Drum was Drumchsoel?
  12. Goodbye season 2024/25, we hardly knew you...
  13. His family weren't abused but stopped going because of what was getting shouted at Kettlewell. Not pleasant but not unsurprising for a football manager when things aren't going well on the park, even when things are going well they get abuse hurled at them 🙄

    Doolan

A board member was very much involved in the signing of Megwa too...
  15. You obviously missed it 🙄
  16. Another social media disaster from the media officer.
  17. A few away supports have been in the JHS but not at the same time as they were in the main stand.
  18. Bannigan still suspended but Reid back available. Kelly and Lawless got 45 minutes vs Rangers B in midweek so we should have a better shape and a bit of depth on the bench.
  19. Easy money for Neil Lennon as is due a substantial bonus for Dunfermline's Championship survival.
