  1. So far, there doesn't seem to be all that much interest in tomorrow's match. I certainly wouldn't consider it a "crucial" game, though of course a win is good for confidence. Time to give a few of the less regular starters a start?
  2. It doesn't have to be a "need." For many (I think most), it's simply for the pleasure, adding to their enjoyment. The equivalent of somebody having a tea or coffee (or a couple of cups), but they prefer beer, or whatever other booze they prefer. It's the (proposed) denial of that pleasure which rankles.
  3. Same in Japan. Throughout the match te beer sellers walk up and down the steps in the stands, and you just have to call them or walk over to them to buy what you want.
  4. Thank you. So, it's the stadium.
  5. Looks like the two gentlemen in the background may have been enjoying rather too many Pilsners and Currywursts over the years.
  6. Excuse my jargonistic ignorance, but what's a "stadium footprint"?
  7. Ah, I remember the good old days of early morning departures for Aberdeen, with stops at Auchterarder (chips and carry-out) and maybe somewhere else nearer Aberdeen (chips and carry-out), and then staying on their for several hours after the game (purely for drinking), and not getting back to Drumchapel (on the Whiteinch bus) until nearly 2 am on Sunday morning.
  8. That sounds like a good idea. Or some variants thereof, such as one match at every stadium, or 10 or 12 vouchers for any away ground.
  9. I was surprised to see that those daft pitch invaders didn't get thrown out of the ground, or worse. Is this a newly accepted thing: pitch invasions when we score even in humdrum league matches? If not, then what's the excuse for it?
  10. I always enjoyed getting to wherever we were going (Airdrie and Greenock are exceptions) early, even mid-morning, then strolling around, taking in something that might be considered a visitor attraction (e.g., a gallery or museum, castle, mansion, garden), lunch, browsing around any shops..... and then on to the match. Actually got to see many places that I never would have visited if not for the Jags.
  11. Is that because they think it should be the Jim Oliver stand?
  12. Irrelevant drivel. I'm finished with this, but look forward to you replacing mouthing off on this forum with active campaigns to remove the people you don't want "anywhere near Firhill" (with names and precise resons) and the replacement of the Colin Weir Stand with the Jim Oliver Stand (with your reasons). I'll also look forward to seeing how many people share your views.
  13. Frankly, I'd be impressed, even astounded, if either of the rancid sisters had facilities for disabled people, with no season ticket. to turn up on the day at a match and be treated somehow better than at Firhill. I was labouring under the idea that PTFC did pretty well in providing "decent" (compared to non-disabled supporters) facilities for disabled supporters. Can you give examples of the "rancour" of disabled people who've turned up on matchday at Firhill only to be denied entry, which is where this topic started`?
  14. Seven goals scored in two games ain't bad at all.
  15. As usual, a few standard deviates at the edges.
  16. A Sporting Club honours Sporting Heroes : Whose rule is that? So for PTFC, why don't you expand your blacklist campaign to remove any non "sporting heroes" from being honoured in the Hall of Fame? What does it say to future generations of young Sports People Somehow, I don't think that future generations of young sports people are the main priority in your campaign against Colin Weir being honoured by having the Main Stand named after him. I certainly don't recall you being so passionate about young sports people in your many previous posts on many topics. Dont work hard - Dont be dedicated - just hope for a Roll over Week -and you will be honoured in the same manner as Club Legends ? That simply amplifies how nasty and stupid your "argument" comes across. You almost sound envious. Jim Oliver had put more money in than Colin Weir at the time of naming the stand - he would never in a Million Years look for a stand to be named after him ( despite the fact he actually built one ) So it's all about money? If somebody else came along and sank more money than Jim Oliver did into PTFC, would you then campaign for the removal of JO's name? And if so, why, because according to you he never had any interest in such an honour anyway!(I'm sure neither did CW.) Really, it's easy for you to cry "shameful," and some people whom you don't approve of should "never be anywhere near PTFC", but if you feel so strongly about such things, why not try to organize a protest against each of your beefs? Why not organize petitions to start a campaign for change? Name the people or the names you'd like to see gone, and state explicitly your reasons why. See how much support you get, or how much attention.
  17. To waken up to that result has made a most pleasant start to a beautiful Sunday morning!
  18. I think it would be disrespectful to both McParland and Weir to re-name the Main Stand. Disrespectful to McParland as it says "Sorry about the training complex; it was all b*shit. Thanks for everything. Listen, it's admittedly an afterthought, but we'll stick a sign with your name on the old stand, get rid of the name that's already there, and it'll be yours until it falls down (maybe not too long to wait for that). How's that?" Disrespectful to Weir as it says "Thanks for the Academy, the millions of quid that kept us going, and kick-starting fan ownership." In recognition, we named the Main Stand after you, but actually, according to some supporters, you just picked 6 numbers out of a hat. We've therefore decided that you don't deserve that stand, but we'll let you keep your name in front of Academy. How's that?
  19. Come on Partick Thistle, give us a goal Di did ilee i di di di di
  20. I'm definitely going to use that phrase somewhere, thank you!
  21. You might not mean it, but that comes across as a gratuitously nasty comment.
  22. Great! Looks like one of those attempts to orchestrate a song which usually fail. I'd have been going to matches then but have no recollection. I think most fans don't appreciate being handed out song sheets that they're invited/coaxed to follow.
  23. A couple of others: All we are saying..... Is give us a goal [RIP John Lennon]. Denis, Denis McQuade, everyone knows his name......
  24. And then there was: "We've got Bobby Bobby Bobby Lawrie on the wing, on the wing...."
  25. I remember it well: E for B and Jimmy Bone: and then 5 quick claps; clap clap clap clap clap clap clap. Unforgettable!
