Metz Vs Thistle *highlights*

Never seen footage of this game before, good to see after hearing so much about it for years. How many thistle fans were at the game? Would love to go to a thistle away game in europe!

Think it was reported that there was about 800 fans there. It was an experience never to be forgotten.

 

A lot of the French fans were waiting applauding outside the ground after the game. They were all wanting to shake the hands of the Thistle fans and hug us, it was very surreal. I came out and a guy handed me his infant son or daughter whilst he shook the hands of all the fans around us. The journey from the ground to the main square was astonishing with Jags fans on top of cars and vans of Metz fans who were all hanging out of their windows singing along, cheering and tooting their horns as we partied our way to the main square for a very, very drunken party with the players.

 

A once in a lifetime experience that sadly we'll probably never see again.

What a fantastic weekend it was.

 

My lad still has his Metz scarf hanging on his bedroom wall - and he's now 24!

 

Memories not to be forgotten include, some guy on the bus singing Elvis Costello's

"Good Year for the Roses" as the sun came up over the French countryside on the way

to the game (who was that guy?),

 

the Jags support being applauded towards the the end of the game by the French home support behind the goal,

 

the memory of the non stop Jags singing of Red n' Yella army,

 

and the 'parade' back to town with supporters waving Thistle flags while standing on the bumper of French motors, and of course,

 

the good nature of the French locals who made us all extremely welcome.
