Jaconelli's

Hopefully there's a perfectly good explanation for this and it's not the end of this institution. Jaconelli's should have Listed Building status and be taken under the guardianship of the National Trust or be a National Heritage site or whatever it is they do with places of great historical importance.

Jaconelli's is an integral part of the very fabric of Maryhill, and has provided a service to the Jags community since before I was born. In fact, it's as much a part of Firhill life as yer macaroon bars and Wrigley's spearmint chewing gum....uh oh.

Great post Blackpool Jags

And I thoroughly agree, it would be a tragedy if Jaconelli's was lost. But it has been closed all day today which is very unusual :(

I was chatting to a mate who knew the owners, dont think it was paying, only time it was paying was on match days, maybe new management may take over ?

Is this the chippy you're talking about?

In my younger days following the Jags (late 80s/early 90s)I used to go to Jaconelli's after almost every game (this habit stopped once the drink got involved in things!) and the shop was regularly queued out the door with football punters.

I walked past after the last game of last season against Raith Rovers, happened to notice that there was not one customer in the joint and thought back to the 'good old days'. If this was at all indicative of how business as a whole has been in recent times then I'm not surprised that it's struggling.

The Quality of the Chippy took a huge dive once it changed to Micha's or what ever it is now.
