Daily Record: Any Retraction Yet?

what an odd thread. this forum was crammed full of people who believed we had voted to admit a new club into the first division so reacting against a newspaper who reacted in exactly the same way is weird.

as a club we did nothing to address that belief at the time and in fact by doing nothing simply fuelled that belief. the evidence available to us as fans and to the record saw us all reaching the same conclusion. and lets be honest here, the most recent statment still doesn't say, in plain english. "we voted no".

a clarification from the record would be welcome and helpful in stating the club's actions in that meeting but we're kidding ourselves on if we think that we are anywhere on the record's list of people who really matter. its the club's responsibility to state clearly and without dubiety to the world how we voted. the lack of pushing of the record for a correction and the lack of a three line statement does nothing to challenge the opinions of those who are still wary of what we did.

Dave and Julie Ann are correct; it's not the clear and unequivocal statement we were calling for on Saturday.

If you were looking at that from the point of view of a communications professional then you could conclude that it is written that way for one of two reasons; either Maxi doesn't know which way DB actually voted or he does, but doesn't want to confirm it.

I see the Bairns Trust has pulled out of a meeting with the Falkirk board as the latter is being upfront about its vote, either.

Presumably the easiest way to clear this issue up is for Mr Beattie to give an unequivocal 'I voted NO' statement when he returns from Spain.

Then the Club can pursue a retraction from the Record.

And as we have a PR expert at the Club, presumably she can be drafting the statement ready for Beatties return?

Sounds all too simple, huh...
