Mcnamara Interview

Bringing this thread back because it should be quite obvious to everyone now that we have been well and truly played here. Reading the article again it's quite clear that this was no more than free advertising for Jackie.

Of course no laws have been broken and he was perfectly within his rights to do the interview, but I think it's a real lesson to the PR people at the club. Jackie was always looking to get away to bigger things as soon as possible. That's his right but we at PTFC need to look after ourselves first and foremost.

That's correct, tho' it was the subject matter that I was miffed about..

I don't really have any problem with managers or staff self promoting themselves. I do tho' strongly believe that all mention of salary & conditions, individual or global, should be strictly out of bounds.

Would have to agree with the above. Have been at hospitality package which was great, but the average wages the players also was mentioned. There are some things that should be less public.

Not sure if that's true but as I said on another thread from early Firhill has been crawling with representatives from other clubs. The media, old and new, has been awash with praise for our style of play.

The risk from JMcN's perspective is that if he stuck around until the end of the season he could end up finishing second to higher spending Morton, being runner-up to high flying QotS and being tagged with having an away record achilles heel.

He's also likely to have been made a very tempting offer by Thomson at a time in his career when his stock is high.

To be honest, that article probably did nothing more than add to a growing support for Jackie and our team. At the end of the day, Thistle have been noticed this season in the media whether or not Jackie has put himself or the team in the shop window.

Even all the OF supporting punters down my local have been keeping an eye on our results, trying to get a look at some of our players and actually discussing our form much more this season than ever before.
